    Ultra-fast 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

With 802.11ac technology and a powerful beamforming antenna array, AirPort Extreme gives you up to 3x faster Wi-Fi and a stronger, clearer signal.1 And because it transmits at both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies at the same time, your wireless devices will automatically connect to the best available band for the fastest performance possible.

    image.alt.pdp-airport-design

    Designed with performance in mind.

With the antennas at the top of the elevated design, AirPort Extreme now has a higher platform for dispersing the signal. We also increased the number of antennas. There are now six of them — three for the 2.4GHz band and three for the 5GHz band. Together with 802.11ac technology, they let you connect faster, farther, and with more power than ever before.

Easy setup for iOS and OS X.

Connect your DSL or cable modem to AirPort Extreme and use the built-in setup assistant to create your new wireless network in just a few taps from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. If you’re using a Mac, use the built-in AirPort Utility. Setup is just as fast and just as easy.

Excellent range, superb speeds, quick and easy set up, looks great. Supports local loopback feature which I really needed, the old standard package router I used to use has nothing on this new AirPort Extreme. Looking forward to using 802.11ac devices with it. Highly recommended, overall a great buy.

double speed over older airport extreme

I was only able to get about 81 to 108 mbits/second from my corner of the house, but now it's 162 to 216. Meanwhile, in the room itself, computers there are getting 450 mbits/sec instead of 300. So even if you have old hardware there are benefits to speed and distance, as hoped and expected, but you never know.

Delighted so far, setup was straightforward, done in less than 10 minutes from opening the box. Gigabit ethernet is delivering the full bandwidth from my cable modem for the first time and the wireless coverage is uniformly excellent in my thick walled and three storey Victorian terrace, noticeably quicker for my n capable devices. I don't have any ac devices yet to test those even higher speeds. Wireless sharing of a Kodak printer also working as hoped. Happy to recommend - nice job Apple.

      Stupid!

The Product Information states "Any Wi-Fi device you have will work with AirPort Extreme". But this is misleading. The most popular broadband provider in the The Product Information states "Any Wi-Fi device you have will work with AirPort Extreme". But this is misleading. The most popular broadband provider in the UK is BT Internet. Users are supplied with a Home Hub router. The Airport Extreme cannot connect wirelessly with this router and as it does not have a modem of its own it cannot replace it. The solution is to connect the 2 devices with an Ethernet cable. What is stupid is that the Airport Extreme cannot be used as a WiFi Extender unless a second Apple router is purchased . This makes it pretty useless for home use because most home users do not have their homes wired up with Ethernet cable and do not need 3 routers.

God knows we pay enough for the service. However, recently the wifi has been very erratic with dropouts and really slow speeds. I just assumed that I needed to tweak channels and settings. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I did a bit of research and opted for the Airport extreme as we run loads of Apple products. Low and behold, as all the other reviews say, set up is so simple it took less than 5 minutes and my wifi speed is now a constant 37mbps. a good 50% better than anything the home hub 3 had ever given and so far no drop outs. Definitely worth every penny and stylish too.

      Replace BT HUB

Was have problems with poor signal strength, coverage and drop out with my BT 5 hub, I had tried everything to try and fix this replacing the face plate new pat Was have problems with poor signal strength, coverage and drop out with my BT 5 hub, I had tried everything to try and fix this replacing the face plate new patch leads etc still no improvements. Purchased this on Fri after checking it out on the online reviews as one of the top ten routers checked some issues with the online chat service to confirm this was the right item for me. It arrived the next day, took about 10 minutes to set up including installing my old BT DSL modem (the white box). Coverage is great, signal strength is improved and speed is slightly faster, but the main improvements is all my devices can be online at the same time including down loading with no issues. I have only set it up for the 2.4GHz wi-fi and this works great for my requirements. I am going to get an Apple Express next to extend the wi-fi signal to my garage and garden next.
