Redesigned. Rechargeable. Remarkable.

  • Overview

The Magic Keyboard combines a sleek new design with a built-in rechargeable battery and enhanced key features. With an improved scissor mechanism beneath each key for increased stability, as well as optimised key travel and a lower profile, the Magic Keyboard provides a remarkably comfortable and precise typing experience. It pairs automatically with your Mac, so you can get to work straight away. And the battery is incredibly long-lasting — it will power your keyboard for about a month or more between charges.

This new one is definitely a step backwards. The keys feel cheap and nasty and are very very noisy when you type. I record screencasts during which I'm often typing, and the noise is ruining my audio. Also the lower angle makes it more uncomfortable to type. Unfortunately this being apple you don't have much choice if you need a keyboard, but if you can find an alternative, buy it. There's no way this is worth the £79 I paid for it.

      Another solid Apple product

I have had this keyboard for a few days now, and I have found that I can type much faster on this keyboard because of the lower key travel. As most other review I have had this keyboard for a few days now, and I have found that I can type much faster on this keyboard because of the lower key travel. As most other reviews have said, this new version is louder to type. But I quite like the noise, each key makes a satisfying tap to compensate for the lower key travel. The lower key travel does make they keyboard much easier to use, and is defiantly an upgrade from my wired apple keyboard with the num pad. Although, the only thing I would want it to do is be able to act as a wired keyboard through the lightning cable, as at work we have really rubbish keyboards, but no bluetooth, therefore I'd love to be able to simply plug this keyboard into my work computer and continue to use it there. This is another great product from apple. Im not sure it's worth £79 however at least when you buy from apple you can rest assured that you are buying quality and that the product is designed by Jony Ive!

You can only connect to one device - there's no option to switch to, say, an iPad. 2. The keys are not backlit... therefore hard to use late at night in a dimly lit room. Why do I mention these as missing features? Because there is a 3rd party keyboard available, for the same price, and identical form factor, which has these two features. Shop around, and I'm sure you'll find it.

      The perfect keyboard

I definitely fall into the best-hardware-they've-ever-made camp on this one. It's a superb keyboard: precise, low travel (but enough), a delightful firm feeling to each key press, lightweight & robust enough to chuck it in a bag to use with an iPad, instant to pair, easy to charge – it even has a proper on/off switch… it's the gold standard of keyboards. Using the keyboard on my MacBook Air makes me very sad now – it just feels horrible & spongy in comparison. It makes me want a new Retina MacBook with the similar keyboard… maybe that was Apple's idea all along?

Unfortunately, after only a week, I have sudden onset carpel tunnel from the awful angle of this keyboard! Is barely elevates at all, and now my wrists really hurt! And the stupid thing is so new, there are no functional keyboard stands to try to resolve the problem. I am shocked that Apple put their name on something that is so terrible! Make a stand, now please!!!!!! I'm desperate!!!!!!!
