Apple Accessories.

Redesigned. Rechargeable. Remarkable.

  • Overview

The Magic Keyboard combines a sleek new design with a built-in rechargeable battery and enhanced key features. With an improved scissor mechanism beneath each key for increased stability, as well as optimised key travel and a lower profile, the Magic Keyboard provides a remarkably comfortable and precise typing experience. It pairs automatically with your Mac, so you can get to work straight away. And the battery is incredibly long-lasting — it will power your keyboard for about a month or more between charges.

I even asked Apple Chat Support, but they didn't know either. Well, the verdict is in! Thankfully, it paired just fine with my Windows 7 Lenovo ThinkPad. Also, I really like the type feel. Hopefully, this review will be helpful for anyone who is on the fence and needs it for a work PC in addition to their Mac.

I use an iPad most of the time at work, and I'm very used to typing on a flat surface, and I wanted a keyboard that felt more like that. I was able to play around with the new Macbook in an Apple Store and fell in love with the keyboard, but I couldn't afford the price tag or the smaller screen size. This keyboard is exactly what I wanted to fill the gap. The smaller keys are not quite as flat as the Macbook, but they are still more stable and easier to push. My typing accuracy has increased tremendously since I purchased this keyboard. If you like big keys that make an audible click, this is not the keyboard to you. Having full size function keys is also very nice, and helps when I'm trying to pause iTunes. The new arrow keys are very different, and have required a little getting used to. I keep having to look down at them to make sure that my fingers are on the correct keys. I'm sure this will pass with time and more use. Overall, the Magic Keyboard is a great device if you are looking for a new keyboard for a desktop Mac, but may not be worth it if you are already completely satisfied with your current keyboard.

I had my doubts given how flat the keyboard and the keys are, but I'm finding that the Magic Keyboard is a nice upgrade to the original keyboard, which was great. You just have to learn to minimize your strokes and movements, so there is a bit of a learning curve. The action is very nice and the keys are very responsive. Excellent job, Apple. I think my productivity is going to improve with this new keyboard and the Magic Trackpad, which I also am digging!

My 12 year old daughter is using it with my old iMac and it suits her fine - for now. Even she says it'll be too small pretty soon. I understand saving materials, but there is such a thing as being too frugal. This keyboard is pretty unusable by most adults, or anyone with hands that aren't rather small. This design is a step backwards.

      Expensive, but great.

Small, epic battery, good-looking, and decent feel when typing. I'm not a great typist and I can hit about 70 wpm on this. Looks great in my office.

The fact it has a built-in battery you can charge using a Lightening cable is also great. However, being a software developer I move around the code quite a lot and I miss more accessible cursor keys, PgUp, PgDown - I know you can use Fn Up/Down but it's not the same. I also need to trim nails very short otherwise it is difficult for me to type. I wish there was the full layout model available with the new butterfly keys, but with num pad and normal cursor keys.

The basic functions of the keyboard work - I am typing this on my Magic Keyboard on a Windows 10 machine. There are a few caveats: 1. The function keys work as function keys - no volume control, no brightness adjustment, etc. 2. The "fn" key simply does not work - which is very problematic as you can't ctrl-alt-delete on Windows with this keyboard (delete for Windows is actually is fn-delete on this keyboard). I even installed the Bootcamp driver for a previous Apple keyboard (AppleKeyboardInstaller64) which did nothing. So yes, it works somewhat.
