Mail Setup Assistant
Need help setting up email accounts in Mac OS X? Simply provide us with your email address and we'll let you know exactly what you need to do.
Note: Your email address will be used to provide your Mail settings. Apple may
collect and use your domain address (i.e. yahoo.com, gmail.com, etc.) for purposes of improving
our products and services. Otherwise, your full email address will not be stored and will not
be used by Apple or shared with any other entities.
Go to Mail Setup Window
- Open Mail.
- Choose one of the following options.
Set Up Your Email Account
- Enter the settings on the right.
- Click Create.
- You should now be able to test your new account by sending an email to yourself.
- If it doesn't work, verify your account settings.
If you encounter any warning messages, please follow the instructions in those messages.

If you see the Outgoing Mail Server screen instead of this screen, click Next below to skip this step.

If you see the Account Summary screen instead of this screen, click Next below to skip this step.

- Click Create.
- You should now be able to test your new account by sending an email to yourself.
- If it doesn't work, verify your account settings.

Set Up Your Email Account
- Make sure you have filled your email settings "cheat sheet" with information from your hosting provider.
- Enter the settings from your "cheat sheet" by matching the numbers on the right.
- Click Create.

Verify Account Settings
- Choose Preferences... from the Mail menu.
- Click the Accounts icon in the toolbar at the top of the Mail Preferences window.
- In the Accounts list on the left of the Mail Preferences window, click the account you want to verify.
- Verify the account and incoming Mail Server settings on the right.

- Click the Outgoing Mail Server pop-up menu, and select Edit Server List...

- If the Server Name is incorrect, click in the Server Name box under Account Information and enter the correct server name.
