Hey, these things happen. Since you take your iPod touch just about everywhere, you might leave it just about anywhere. No worries. Whether it’s at your friend’s house or in the hamper with yesterday’s jeans, chances are it won’t be lost for long.
Locate your iPod touch on a map.
Go to Settings on your iPod touch, tap iCloud, and enable Find My iPod touch.1 Then if you misplace it, you can sign in to icloud.com from any web browser on a Mac or PC. Or borrow your friend’s iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and use the Find My iPhone app. Find My iPod touch shows you the approximate location of your iPod touch on a map.2
Learn how to set up Find My iPod touch
Set a passcode lock remotely.
If you realize that you left your iPod touch in a public place, you may want to protect its contents until it’s safely back in your hands. Remotely set a four-digit passcode lock to prevent people from using your iPod touch, accessing your personal information, or tampering with your settings.
Protect your privacy with Remote Wipe.
Email, photos, addresses, phone numbers. Your iPod touch contains important and personal information — information you probably don’t want in the hands of a stranger. So if you lose your iPod touch and displaying a message on it hasn’t resulted in its safe return, you can initiate a remote wipe to restore it to its factory settings. If you eventually find your iPod touch, you can restore the data using your most recent backup from iCloud or iTunes.
