|eMac Service: Frequently Asked Questions|
can I tell if my eMac needs service?
Visit our eMac support site for helpful troubleshooting information. If you have reviewed the articles on the website, and you're still not sure whether your eMac requires service, you can take your eMac to your local Apple Authorized Service Provider ("AASP") or Apple retail store for diagnosis.
Note: Diagnostic fees may apply for issues not covered under warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan (APP).
How long is my eMac covered by Apple's warranty?
Your eMac is covered by Apple's One-Year Limited Warranty. Warranty service for eligible repairs is available at no charge for twelve months from the date of original retail purchase ("date of purchase").
How can I tell if my eMac is in-warranty?
Your eMac is covered by Apple's One-Year Limited Warranty for one year from its date of purchase. Apple may need to examine your proof of purchase document to verify your eMac warranty status.
How much will my in-warranty service be?
Warranty service for eligible repairs is available at no charge for twelve months from the date of purchase. However, you will be responsible for all expenses incurred in transporting the eMac to Apple, an AASP or Apple retail store.
How do I get my eMac serviced?
Apple may provide service for your eMac, using one of the following options:
Don't rely on it being preserved. Many repairs require Apple to replace or reformat the hard disk, which will result in the loss of your data. Please make sure you back up your data on a regular basis to minimize your data loss. Apple and its AASPs are not responsible for any damage to or loss of any programs, data, or other information stored on your eMac while performing service.
How long will my eMac service take?
Service times often depend on the nature of the issue and the availability of service parts at the service location. Be sure to ask how long service will take when you deliver your eMac for service.
What is the status of my eMac service request?
For service facilitated through Apple, you can check the status of your eMac service at any time by accessing our easy service status website.
I extend service coverage on my eMac beyond the warranty?
The AppleCare Protection Plan for eMac extends hardware repair service and technical support coverage to three years from the eMac's date of purchase. AppleCare Protection Plan for eMac must be purchased while the eMac is covered under Apple's One-Year Limited Warranty.
My eMac warranty has expired. What are my service options?
If your warranty has expired, you still have access to all available service options, but you will be responsible for the cost of service, including parts, labor, shipping (if any) and applicable taxes. AppleCare or your local AASP or Apple retail store representative will provide you with an estimate of service costs before receiving your authorization to perform service.
One of my eMac accessories isnt working. Can I order a replacement?
Most accessories that shipped with your computer can be replaced. If you need additional assistance, please contact your local AASP, Apple retail store or contact Apple. A technical support agent can help you diagnose the failure and order a replacement part, if necessary.
What kind of activities are excluded from my warranty coverage?
Apples One-Year Limited Warranty for emac excludes coverage for damage resulting from a number of events, including accident, liquid spill or submersion, unauthorized service and unauthorized modifications. If damage is outside the scope of warranty coverage, service may be available through a local AASP or an Apple retail store, but all service charges will be your responsibility. In such an event, you will be asked to approve the estimated charges and accept the terms and conditions for service before authorizing the repair. If the repair is performed at an Apple retail store Apple's Repair Terms and Conditions will govern service. Repair service for a eMac that has experienced catastrophic damage, for example extensive liquid damage or a severe impact that results in the product being disassembled into multiple pieces, is generally not available and not eligible for service.
Does Apple warrant my eMac service?
For eMacs under Apple's One-Year Limited Warranty, Apple warrants against defects that arise from service performed for 90 days from the date of service or for the remaining period of the warranty, whichever provides longer coverage for you. For eMacs not under Apple's One-Year Limited Warranty, Apple warrants against defects that arise from service performed for 90 days from the date of service.
