Linking to iTunes
Can I put affiliate links on my social profile?
Yes, you can place affiliate links on your social profiles (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, etc). But you cannot use your social profile page to apply to the affiliate program. Currently, we require for the application that you have a website or blog URL. Or, as a developer you can provide a link to your app on the App Store.
How do links work?
An affiliate-encoded link to the iTunes store will launch the iTunes software on a Mac or PC. The same link on a website or in an app on an iOS device will take the user out of your app and into the iTunes store. If a visitor to your website does not yet have iTunes installed on a PC, the link redirects their browser to a website where the user can download iTunes for free.
How do I create links?
Create links using our Link Maker tool, Widget Builder tool, or simply add your Affiliate ID to the end of an iTunes, App Store or iBooks Store URL. Learn more by reading about basic affiliate linking.
What does the “at” value in my link mean?
The “at” value is your Affiliate ID. Just add this to the end of any iTunes, App Store or iBooks Store URL to be eligible for commissions. For example, the link below is to the Singapore store (sg): https://itunes.apple.com/sg/artist/bruno-mars/id278873078?at=12345
What does the “ct” value in my link mean?
The “ct” value is campaign text that you can optionally add to any link in order to track sales from a specific marketing campaign. Later you can see in the reporting dashboard all clicks and sales related to the campaign text you added to your links. For example, the link below is to the Singapore store (sg): https://itunes.apple.com/sg/artist/bruno-mars/id278873078?at=12345&ct=email
What is the easiest way to create just a few affiliate links?
The easiest way to create affiliate links is to simply add your Affiliate ID to the end of any iTunes Store, App Store or iBooks Store URL. Our Link Maker tool can also be used to find and link to affiliate-encoded iTunes links. Look for the Link Maker tool in your PHG account dashboard.
How can I create links in bulk?
iTunes offers advanced linking tools for finding more than just a couple links. The Search and Lookup API are the best tool for finding links and meta data about iTunes content in a programmatic way. Our Enterprise Partner Feed (EPF) is appropriate for affiliates who need to create their own database of iTunes content metadata. As we do not offer support or file management for EPF, we only recommend this option for affiliates who are able to independently manage the file produced by EPF. Further information can be found on the Affiliate resource website.
How do I link to the iTunes top content from my website?
iTunes provides different RSS feeds for the top content in each of the stores. Using our RSS Feed Generator, you can easily create feeds for displaying top albums, top apps, top books and more.
Do you have other creative assets?
Yes, we have an easy to use Widget Builder that allows you to create an affiliate encoded search box or to feature an album, a playlist or a favourite app or book. Our Banner Builder tool allows you to create banner for for almost everything on the store.
How much commission will I earn?
As an affiliate, you can earn a commission on revenue generated by encoded links. Commissions are eligible on sales for up to 24 hours after a user clicks on your link.
How do I know how much money I’ve earned?
You can run reports on sales, commissions, clicks and conversion rates through your affiliate account dashboard.
Can I choose what currency I would like to be paid in?
Yes, you can select a preferred currency by signing in to your affiliate account. If you choose a currency other than that of your country of residence, minimum payment thresholds may be higher before a payment can be made.
How long will it take to be paid?
In order to receive a payment, you must provide us with your bank information. Please provide your banking information, select a preferred currency and set a minimum payment threshold by signing in to your affiliate account. You are eligible to receive commissions through direct deposit after you have reached our program minimum payment threshold. Payment thresholds vary by country or currency and can be seen in your account settings. Affiliate payments are available 90 days after the date of sale, assuming your payment threshold has been met.
Why don’t I see my sales and commissions?
As an affiliate, you earn commissions on sales generated only on the iTunes Store for which you have encoded links. There is a delay between the time the sale is made and when the sale shows up in the reporting interface. Allow one to two weeks; the delay varies by country.
Can I earn commission from sales on the Apple Online Store?
Links to the Apple Online Store products do not earn commissions on the iTunes affiliate program. iTunes gift cards sold on the Apple Online Store are not eligible for affiliate commission. Links to iTunes Gifts on the desktop or within iOS, however, are eligible for affiliate commission.
