 Brand-name productsFrom Microsoft to Intuit, Symantec to AOL, Electronic Arts to Humongous, you’ll find products for Macintosh you recognise from vendors you already know on the PC. You can take the skills you’ve learned on the PC to the Mac. Many software packages, such as Microsoft Office, use the same exact file format on both Mac and PC. You can swap from machine to machine without a hitch. In fact, we opened the same file in both programs in most of the side-by-side comparisons on the right.  Use the best tool for the jobYou may need to run custom software that only works on a PC. That’s fine — do whatever you need to do to get your work done. Keep that old PC around and share files with the Mac, or use Virtual PC to run a Windows environment on your Mac. (despite what you may have heard, we’re pragmatic idealists). Some software from leading brands simply isn’t available for Mac. We’re not going to try and hide it.
