Adobe Acrobat Reader is free software that lets you view and print Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files on all major computer platforms, as well as fill in and submit Adobe PDF forms online. Adobe PDF is a universal file format that preserves all the fonts, formatting, graphics and colour of any source document, regardless of the application and platform used to create it. Adobe PDF files are compact and can be shared, viewed, navigated and printed exactly as intended by anyone with Adobe Acrobat Reader software.

Mac OS X uses the PDF format as its native graphics subsystem. So it’s easy to create PDF documents. You can save the current document as a PDF as an output option from the print dialogue in every application.
