How can I use a wireless network?
WiFi AirPort, Apple’s implementation of the 802.11b (WiFi) standard, makes it easy to use the Internet without any cables. You can put your Mac anywhere in the house and keep the floor free of tripping hazards. But you can also use AirPort networks around the country with your iBook or PowerBook.

Each AirPort Base Station can support up to 50 Mac and PC users. AirPort complies with the IEEE 802.11b industry standard to allow for interoperability with other 802.11-compliant products.

If you’re running a network of PC users, all you need is one AirPort-enabled Apple computer (iBook, PowerBook, iMac or Power Mac G4) to set up your base of wireless operations. The AirPort Base Station comes with a handy 10/100BASE-T Ethernet connector that can act as the hub of your cross-platform universe.
