Switching to Mac: Real Stories

We’ve received hundreds of emails from people who have successfully switched from PCs to Macs. Executives. Parents. UNIX users. Students. Researchers. Retirees. Here are some of their true stories. We’ll continue to add letters during the coming weeks — we have many good stories to share with you.

Falling in Love

I have been a Mac owner for only 3 weeks now, and I have fallen in love! Your dedication, love and beauty you put into all your products is nothing short of amazing. The transition between the two platforms was flawless.
I own a 14 inch iBook and an iPod. Every time I look at them I just am amazed. They are works of art. Thank you for making just amazing breathtaking products. I didn’t think it was possible to fall in love with inanimate objects, but I did… Thank you.

Friendly UNIX

I recently bought my first Mac — an iBook 14”, and I love it. I do Web development, and have been using various Unices for about 10 years. I’ve always had to save half my hard drive so I could run Office and let my girlfriend browse the web and do her work.
I’d been eyeing OS X since it was announced, and I have to say that Apple has done a spectacular job creating what I never thought was possible… a UNIX that my girlfriend can use.

Something Different

The main factor in my choice to buy a Mac was OS X. I was so impressed. I would watch the videos on the Web site over and over again. I couldn’t get enough. So, I finally bought my Mac and haven’t turned back since.
And those iApps. WOW. Even my mother (a die hard Windows user) LOVES iTunes. It is by far the best jukebox player in the world. When she wants to burn a CD, she uses my Mac. It’s amazing those “other guys” still haven’t gotten it yet. I see Windows Media Player trying to copy the design, but have failed miserably. They don’t understand that simpler is better.
When I first got my iMac, that night I opened iMovie, and in about 5-10 minutes I had created an iMovie with titles, transitions and sound effects with the template video it comes with. It’s AMAZING how simple it is to use.
When I saw iPhoto I had to download it immediately. I don’t have a digital camera (yet), but it is coming in handy, because I’m taking scanned pictures of my brother’s wedding to produce a book for their first wedding anniversary. Because you have created such an amazing product, I do plan (in the near future) to buy a digital camera.
As a side note, because of OS X and the stability of the Mac, a friend of mine (a PC user) is currently waiting on his new iMac with the SuperDrive. He can’t wait, and I know his experience will be as good as mine has been.
