Apple Remote with iPod and iPhone

If you connect your iPod to a home stereo, powered speakers or TV set, the Apple Remote lets you experience your songs, slideshows and more from across the room. Plug your iPod into the Apple Universal Dock and choose a playlist, slideshow or video. Then sit back, relax and enjoy. Ready to move on to the next song? No need to get up. Just press the Next button on the Apple Remote. Getting a call on your iPhone? Press Pause, then pick up where you left off.

    Apple Remote with Mac

The Apple Remote gives you total command of your music, photos, videos and DVDs from anywhere in the room. Turn up the volume. Shuffle. Skip to the next chapter on your DVD. Play a slideshow, a home movie you made in iMovie, even a film trailer.

Keep in mind, Apple TV can only connect to one remote at a time. If you wish to play multiple player games, you’ll need an iOS device or controller.

      EXCELLENT!

Apple, this is AWESOME. The first remote was a TOTAL fail compared to this. This thing is the toughest, smallest piece of machinery THAT works. :P

Anyway works brilliantly now i can enjoy watching and listening to my music remotely, yes i know that you can do this with the iphone app it just looks so much better in front row, again 5 stars for apple.

      Apple Tv remote improvements

I found a flaw the first time I put it down. When I'm lying in bed and the room's dark and the remote is sitting somewhere in the folds of a blanket, it is hard to re-orient it in your hand. With its sensitivity, picking it up can actuate all sorts of undesired commands. There is no up down front back way to orient it. As I said I saw this 5 minutes after I hooked the thing up but after hearing that Jennifer Lawrence taped hers to a wooden spoon, I realized I wasn't alone and I placed a small piece of duct tape on the back bottom so there is tactile feedback. Apple could etch the edge of the thumb side so that every one can get the tactile feed back. I've been looking at remote design my entire life. If a remote is well designed, once someone gets familiar with a remote there is no need to look at the remote, people will shoot from the hip. Tim Cook call me. Oh and Jennifer? You can call too...

Better in many ways than the new Siri Remote.

But when you grab it from where you last put it down, the ultra-sensitive touch area starts sending all kinds of unwanted and disruptive commands as you struggle to get it properly positioned in-hand, forced to be impossibly delicate on precisely where you touch it as you struggle to do so. I am returning to this "old" remote with my new Apple TV as it does not have this major drawback. Only wish IT came with Siri.

I don't even understand a lot of the tech jargon peps talk about here. I;ve had this 2.5 years and there IS a battery low signal on the TV so I know i need a battery. i thought i'd just go buy one.
