The cable I had with my iPhone 4, I had for 2 years with no problems at all. So I find it very strange that the lighting cord can stop working so easily. Even the cord for my first generation iPod touch which is 6 years old and it still works. Now I have to go buy another cord and spend more money to keep using my phone. I hope the issue gets fixed soon because I don't want to keep buying new lighting cords every 4 months.

All three have inexplicably stopped working. Each has gotten a short in the cord where it meets the lightning end though I've been careful to leave them straight, treat them gently (especially since the first failed). With my current cord, I have to hold the lightning end of the cord in a certain direction to get it to work. On top of that, when it happens to short out, it interferes with the electric current, disabling linked ports. i.e. when it shorts out in any of my computers' USB ports, the other ports become inactive as well (disabling my external hard drive and USB mouse); when it is plugged in a charger with multiple outputs, the other outputs become inactive as well. After buying several chargers, three iPods, three iPhones, and an iPad, I had amassed ten of the old 30-pin connectors. All ten work just as well as they did when I brought them home; I took it for granted that I never had an issue with any of them.

      Flimsy

Not up to usual Apple quality standards. Breaks down with normal use.

After it has had enough tension, it'll rip and ruin the inner wires. I've probably bought at least 5 of these in about a year. However, the 2 meter charger cable did last me significantly longer than the .5 meter. I recommend the 2.0 meter if you have issues with the charger cord being too short. Rather than buying $100 worth of cables in a year it's a lot better to buy one $30 and go through two of them. I truly hope Apple will make their cables knit with nylon, as my old nylon cable for my iPhone 5s lasted me well over a year before it took a hit and died out.

I stick with genuine Apple cables.

I've never had an issue with genuine Apple chargers and I know now not to bother with other brands. These are well-made and I love that this cable is .5m long. I leave these plugged into my iMac for synching/charging and they are long enough to easily plug into devices but short enough that there isn't a pile of wiring on my desk.
