Easy Setup and Great Sound Quality!

    • Written by from Monterey

I mainly got this to hear audiobooks and podcasts. I opened the box and it paired immediately with my iPhone 5. The sound quality is really clear. The battery seems to last a long time. Now I can hear audiobooks while driving or at my desk at work...with no wires! Easily 5 stars!

straight talk and listen function is fine on this device. however, the siri function is clunky to downright difficult and i have not been able to get my distinctive rings only the plantronic ring. i usually only answered my phone based on the distinctive ring with a jabra set i had. now i have to pull my phone out of my pocket to see who's calling before i answer. annoying.

    Works with iPhone 6

    • Written by from Algonquin

Purchased the iPhone 6 and this device sync with the new phone. If you purchased the Plantronics A170 new and have not paired it with a previous phone, it will be discoverable right away. If you were like me and upgraded from a iPhone 5S to the new iPhone 6 it will not be discoverable when headset is on and the bluetooth is enabled on the phone. You must treat it as a new device and hold the answer / disconnect button until it flashes red / white. You will then be able to see it available to pair with your new phone. Works great with the iPhone 6!!!

This is a small simple delight. Great sound. Easy to use. Low cost. Recommend all round. (PS had another product prior and reception was so poor but this one is a delight)

Answer via button press on headset diverts call to phone

    • Written by from WERRI BEACH

I'm not sure if this behavour can be changed but it is really annoying. I prefer to answer by pressing the button as the voice recognition simply doesn't very well. Consequently i press the button on the headset to answer. Unfortunately for some stupid reason, when i do this rather than sending th audio to the headset, it sends the audio to the phone meaning one must have their iphone within reach to divert the audio back to the headset.

Perhaps there is a setting i am unaware of that can change this senseless behavor but i am yet to find it.

Audio is ok. breaks up if it is in in your pants pockets on the opposide side of you body.

I loved my headset. You get different sizes to fit in your ear. A choice in or over your ear or both...it lets you know when your battery is running low. I think it is very good for the price .. I had mine for nearly 1 yr until I forgot it in my pocket and it was washed and I never bothered to use it again. :( I couldn't do without it ... :(. Overall, I would highly recommend it. Very reliable!!!!! GIVE IT A TRY FOR YOURSELF PEEPS!!!!!!!!!

    A170 Plantronics

    • Written by from Dunedin

Expected the sound to be crisp, and almost natural according to some of the reviews, but my brother indicated he could tell right off that I was on a bluetooth device. Though it was fairly good, the sound was a tad robotic.

The sound level button was also an issue. Leaving it around the middle level, it sounded OK, but once you cranked it up, the crackle in the ear piece was very noticeable and I immediately turned it down a bit.

It's very light, some what un-noticeable with it on. Did not hurt my ears on bit for the short time I talk (About 20/25 minutes or so). I would recommend this product, but will continue to look around for something more natural in sound quality for both ends.

    Best bluetooth we ever owned

    • Written by from Baltimore

I bought two for our iPhones 4.

I wear mine all day and for the first time I have no ear discomfort. As far as conversation quality goes; I use it with the top down driving off the highway and no one is the wiser.

The bells and whistles are great. I stream music while I walk and little beats whisper into my head. The range is good too, for those times when I am charging my iphone and walk away from my desk.

My Mrs. has given nothing but compliments on the A170. We are very satisfied with this accessory to our iPhones 4.

    Excellent Bluetooth headset

    • Written by from COLUMBUS

For me, this Bluetooth headset works great. The pairing was very easy to do. I like that I can also listen to my Podcasts via the headset. Listening to music via this headset would be odd though since it is only mono sound (for obvious reason), but it worked fine.

As with some of the reviewers, the volume control could be better executed. Just note that the headset has its volume control and then on the iPhone there is volume control, so if the volume is too loud or too quiet, check that both device (the headset and the iPhone) volumes are adjusted accordingly.

    I highly recommend this headset.

You can get the M165 if you don't need the car charger that comes with this A170.

Works until it buzzes in your ear

    • Written by from Coventry

I need to go to my iphone and change the call source to iphone and then back to the A170 which works sometimes. I have never had a headset that worked so poorly. I have had $20 units and whole the sound quality was not so great they worked.. This thing while the quality is great it malfunctions consistently!! I wish I had saved the documentation so I could send it back!!

    Almost Great except for Siri

    • Written by from Upper Arlington

As long as you don't expect to use SiRi, this headphone is pretty good.

I have four of these and a M165, which is the same model in a different cover,

It is light, long battery, very clear audio in your ear and physically very durable.

Noise canceling is minor—it does some, but not a lot.

The microphone quality is acceptable but not superior according to all people that I have ever spoken with.

Siri is a different matter though. Here is the problem; Siri doesn’t know when you are done speaking when using this headset. You can manually complete the Siri request by pressing the soft button (looks like a microphone) on the iPhone or you can wait two full minutes for it to time-out.

This problem exhibits about 95% of the time.

If your environment is perfectly quiet it will never know when you are finished talking. If you are in a slightly noisy environment it will complete more often than not. If you are in a very noisy environment, Siri will usually just plain not understand you.

Love this headset, but I am a heavy Siri user and this headset is a pain.

    Works with Siri

    • Written by from Mount Airy

Great sound quality and very comfortable. The selling point for me was being able to access Siri without picking up my phone. Push and hold for 2 seconds and she picks right up. Being able to answer or ignore with voice command is also a nice feature. So far I love it.

Almost 1 year of using it daily out of any technical problem, congratulations to the manufacturer,
droping his attention that a wall charger 110 - 240 V 50-60 Hz is needed to reach the perfection
of that mono bluetooth headset, go ahead

IT WORKS WITH MY IPHONE5!!! Based on that alone iI give it 4 stars. I'll have to save the 5th star if it keeps working and once I figure out other features. Right now I'm happy to be able to multitask and not be stuck holding my phone.

I just bought this product and so far it is awesome! It displays battery life on your Iphone and it tells you how many hours of talk time you have left. You can also listen to music or Netflix through it. Its charger lets you charge both the device and your Iphone. I found it also has connectivity with Mac which is even better. Bluetooth devices usually feel uncomfortable for me but this one doesn't. I highly recommend this product, I haven't found anything wrong with it so far.
