Services for learning.

Apple Learning Services are a series of network-based services focused on enhancing learning. They consist of standards-based software and hardware solutions, accessible by both Macs and PCs, that reside in your existing infrastructure. They enable management of the learning workflow; assessment of student achievement; ad hoc communication and collaboration among educators, students and parents; and sharing and management of educational content.

Typically, learning services include:

Instructional management.
The Apple Instructional Management Solution (AIMS) is at the core of our learning services offerings. It enables teachers to manage instructional workflow, easily and in a fraction of the time it would take to do so manually. For example, teachers can transmit assignments, tests and quizzes digitally to an entire class, to groups within a class or to individual learners in need of special attention. Those instructional materials are easily accessed by students and returned to the teacher for comments or assessment. This provides immediate feedback on student performance, so that instruction can be better aligned to each student’s needs.

Digital repository.
Think of a digital repository as an instantly accessible library of instructional resources. These instructional resources are categorized and organised, which makes digital assets easy to search and retrieve, for both teachers and students. Digital repository services are built into AIMS and can also be purchased as a stand-alone service. With a digital repository, teachers and students always have the content they need for teaching and learning — exactly when they need it.

Communication and collaboration.
With little or no administrative overhead, communication and collaboration services enable the creation of learning communities — teachers and students engaged in conversation or groups of students collaborating on an assignment. Other learning communities may extend beyond the classroom by electronically bringing in outside experts or engaging parents and the community at large. Essential communication and collaboration services are built into AIMS and can be augmented with the Apple iChat Server, the Apple Video Streaming Solution and the Apple Podcasting Server, among others. The more students communicate and collaborate with their teachers and peers, the more they are engaged — and the more they learn.
