Bought the BookBook about a year ago, cost me over $100.00 as I live in Canada. I was a little shocked at the cost but thought it'd be a quality product. Was I mistaken, Canadian money doesn't fit in it, so you have to fold it which makes impractical to carry money in. The spine discoloured and looks terrible. The credit card slots on the interior have all stretched so you can't put cards in them as will just slip out. Lost my drivers licence and health card today. So today is the garbage day for my BookBook just where it belongs. Worst $100 I've spent.

Useful case, looks good but weak around the rear facing camera

    • Written by from Henley On Thames

I've had this case for probably 18 months now (or rather, I've had _these_ cases). Thankfully there's a 12 month warranty on the case because if, like me, you need to take the phone out of the case to fit it on a charging dock, or put it in a different case (for fitting on a bicycle for example) you'll find the corner of the case near the rear camera is weak. The plastic frame the holds the phone and the leather case become detached. I got mine replaced under warranty but the replacement has already started to go after 6 months or so.

I notice that the versions of the case for the 6/6 Plus have a different design around the rear facing camera, so Twelve South are presumably aware of the issue.

    Book Book for 6+

    • Written by from Abilene

I have been using Book Books for years, and have always loved them. I just moved up to iphone6+, and I like the Book Book again, but there is one feature I absolutely loathe about the 6+ case. I can not stand the removable part of the case. My phone is always sliding out of the little grommets that should hold it securely in. I am seriously thinking about removing my phone and attempting to glue the removable case onto the little pegs that should be holding it on. Has anyone else found this sliding feature to be a nuisance? All in all, its a nice case, and I still would recommend it.

    Beauty and function

    • Written by from COBBLE HILL

Love this new case for my iPhone 6plus. I had something similar for my iPhone 4S but this is much nicer. The phone is secure to the leather cover but is easy to remove when needed. Some sort of method of holding it closed would be nice. Due to my previous experience with wallets, I placed an elastic ribbon around the wallet side of the case (vertically) and sewed it in place at the bottom. It looks like a ribbon bookmark but holds my cards in place. I just slip the elastic off the top of wallet side to remove whichever card I need. I also like the that the card slots actually fit my driver's license.

All in all I'm very please with this purchase and am sure that it will outlast my iPhone!

    great customere service and product

    • Written by from Freeland

All I can say is WOW. I dropped my Iphone 6 plus and it was in the brown book book. It landed on the corner. No damage to the my new (1 month) phone. but the inner plastic case of the book book broke off. great! Now I need to buy a new case. Hopefully they will sell me the inner plastic case; these were my thoughts. NO they did not sell me the inner case, but they did send me a new one for FREE in the mail within 3 days. WOW. Not only is the feature a great feature but make the case repairable. their customer service is fantastic. This is my second one. the first was a for a Iphone 5.
I find the case perfect: will it ever replace my wallet, no. But for those times when I do not want to carry, or cant, my wallet, it is perfect. like biking or going to the gym. I can carry my dl, cash, membership card and all the music I will need in one easy place. IMHO it is the best looking case.

    Great concept but poor utility.

    • Written by from Kanata

I have had my case for two year and durability is excellent. I love the idea of it but find its utility wanting. You need to be a true minimalist to get by with drivers licence and two card slot and a $20, Lets not forget the swipe cards, health card, Auto Insurance, ownership and registration. Maybe someday these will be on your phone. In the meantime: overloaded wallet. It's awkward to text and talk with one hand. Case gets in the way. I try it for a while then switch back to seperateminimalist wallet and minimalist iPhone case.

    Best, Don

    Looks great but...

    • Written by from Cary

First off this is a beautiful case and people will notice it (if you're into that sort of thing). I've gotten many compliments. Its got mega cool factor. Many people actually mistook it for a Bible ; ) The leather wears very nicely in that it looks like a very well-read book over time. This adds to the visual intrigue. I was a bit surprised how quickly the book became worn though. What you see at the 12 South website will last for approximately 3 months before the case becomes fully worn in. I like the worn look and the case has miraculously held together for the 12 months I've had it. No tears and the stitching is solid.

Caveats... The slots for credit cards become stretched over time & no longer hold credit cards securely. The canvas or cowhide that holds the CC's stretches with the more cards you add. I've stuffed mine plenty. On a occasion I have picked up the case upside down and had more than a few CC's go flying onto the floor. This is the biggest issue for me because I have to be conscious about how I handle the case. A few users have mentioned that a clip to keep the case closed would be helpful. I'm not certain of this. Coming from a guys perspective this would make it appear more like a "man-purse" which I'm not into. Also, I've had cards fall out of the case when the fold was closed and in my hand.

Despite the shortcomings I still love it. Ultimately its not a perfect case, but darn this thing looks and feels good.

Loved loved the idea of a book book for my iPhone 5s, after
Purchasing (which 60 bucks for a phone case is absurd) the left portion of
The case which holds the credit cards actually made an impression on the glass
Of the phone causing a permanent scratch. Twelve South also replaced the case for
Me after the right plastic piece holding the phone cracked and now since its 1.5 years
Old the stitching fell away exposing the cardboard which keeps the leather stiff.
It's too bad it fell apart as I have book book for my Mac and have not one complaint.
    I give it 2 stars

attractive and nice, but doesn't close

    • Written by from Berkeley

This is a very attractive case, which is why I bought it. The leather feels very nice in my hand.

The major issue with this case is that it doesn't close--there's no closure or clasp on it at all. Which means that the display always shows, and, it just has a not-closed look to it, all the time--not something you want to hold your money and credit cards in, along with your iPhone. I used two hair bands to hold it closed--one along the spine, one attached to that to loop around it, and that helps, but I don't understand why they did not include some sort of clasp/closure.

Also, the plastic holder for the phone itself does not quite hold the phone in tight enough, and my phone did fall out once, so I'm not completely faithful it will be protected if I drop it.

I do like it though in many ways, especially aesthetic, as most holders on the market are either very ugly, or provide almost no protection. I'm not sure yet whether I would buy one again or not. If they add a closure/clasp, then, yes. Otherwise, not sure.

Falls apart in less than a year

    • Written by from San Francisco

I used it for less than a year. First the leather wears off the hard plastic, then the stitches come undone and now the everything is delaminating. The 4s version was ok with some faults and lasted 2 years ... this version for the 5s.. in one word.. BLOWS.

I used to have the BookBook for iPhone 4S and that case was great. However, I didn't like this case because of the following reasons:
    1. It blocks one of the microphones on the iPhone and therefore creates distortion/blocks my voice when I use my iPhone to talk. I have to use a headset or remove the phone from the case. I don't talk a lot on my phone, but this issue is really annoying nonetheless.
    2. It's been almost a year since I've started using it and it is already tearing apart. Maybe it's because I need to remove the phone so often from the case.

I would not recommend this product to anyone.

    16 months later, falling apart.

    • Written by from Gainesville

This is my second Book Book. I had one for my iPhone 4 that I used for 6 months before upgrading to the iPhone 5 in July of 2013. I was so happy to see that Book Book added a hole in the back for the camera. What I didn't realize was that this would be the first place where the glue comes undone on the case. The second place the glue started coming undone is where the plastic piece that holds the phone in place is. I'm a man and take this phone case in and out of my pocket several times a day. The leather holds up well, however, the glued sections do not

    Substandard product.

WE have many apple products with which we have been very happy. Very little to complain about, the exception this dud of a product.

1 Fold it back and the sound is muted and caller cannot hear you.
2 Took less than six months for it to start falling apart - other cases we have had lasted for years. The case of our 3gs is still in good condition 4years+. iiphone 4 same. Otterbox defender case for ipad 3 still as new 3yrs+. Bookbook case for iphone 5s ready for the bin after six months - says it all. Nice looking product but an absolute waste of $70.

Had my concerns. With a little conditioner(five bucks) this wallet/case has become amazing.
Leather always needs work in the beginning. Ask any horse person(saddles, bridles). I am waiting for my 6plus and hope
that the book book for that come out before I get it. For those staying with the 5s or even he 6 I highly recommend this case.

This case has been perfect. I love the style and it receives many complements. It's practical too. It can hold my cards, my id, my cash, and my phone together and I only have to grab one thing out the door. Now I'm waiting for one for the iPhone 6!

Girl-y accessory for my iPhone 5s

    • Written by from Bossier City

I have this case in both the black and the ledger brown. I alternate between cases, and have exclusively used just the BookBooks for 7 months. I am a legal assistant and these cases match the BookBook for my MacBook Air 13", so I like that. The leather smells heavenly and after using them for 7 straight months, the leather has gotten some wear, ergo giving both cases a vintage look, character, if you will. And they are sturdy.
I use my iPhone 5s for *every*thing so I have had opportunities to accidentally drop it. The BookBook protects it. Also, I love that it holds my driver's license, a debit card, a credit card, and my health insurance card. The "hidden" pocket holds cash, or my parking card.
All in all, this is an awesome case/wallet combo! Ladies, this is a girl-y accessory. If nothing else, this is a great conversation starter at the check out line or at my local Starbucks!

    Excellent product!

    • Written by from Alliston

I've been using this case with my 5S for the past three months and absolutely love it! The build quality is excellent. It's stylish, durable and highly functional. My iPhone is held firmly in place, yet is easy to remove when I want to set the phone in a charging dock. All of the buttons are easily accessible. It's very convenient to have my wallet and phone, two items I never leave the house without, all in one.

I've noticed a few complaints from previous reviewers here...since Apple moved the noise cancelling mic to the back of the phone, calls can sound muffled if the cover is folded all the way over. There is a dead simple fix for this: don't fold it all the way over!! Simply leave a slight gap, which is easy to do, and problem solved. Since the case is made of leather, and is stiff at first, the cover won't fully close when laid flat. Like anything made of leather it will soften and become more flexible over time. After about two weeks of use mine closes completely, even while holding six cards.
I highly recommend this product to any iPhone user.

By far, the most functional and fashionable iphone case out there

    • Written by from BOCA RATON

This case is exceptional. I've tried many cases and they all break. You CAN NOT break this case. I've dropped my phone tons - the phone has NEVER gotten a scratch. It is gorgeous leather and the phone is framed in unlike the earlier versions which I also loved. I read the review where the customer said their leather got too worn but that's a little hard to believe. At any rate, Twelve South will happily replace the case _ i have dealt with them for other issues. They are a good company. I can't wait to get the iphone 6 and the new case!!!!

Good for everything but making calls

    • Written by from London

This is my second book book case. I had one for my iphone 4 and it was great - apart from the photo taking problem everyone talked about. However this one is fine for taking photos but no one can hear me when I make calls. I can't work out why this is and am very intrigued that the various magazine reviews do not comment on this. Did none of them try to use the case for what it is intended for - a telephone?? I have had the case for 5 months so far and it is a consistent problem so I am about to abandon the case and get another. I cannot work out how to hold or use the phone in the case to alleviate the problem.
