I've had them for years with no issues

I'm writing this because of all the negative reviews. I've had my computer for a little over 4 years and no problems with the computer or adapter. I had the same adapter for my 2008 MacBook and the only reason it's not working now is my then puppy got to it when I wasn't looking (and even considering he bit down to the wire, it still worked most of the time for months). I'm always careful with my electronics (puppy notwithstanding) but I don't think you should have a problem with this item if you're reasonably careful.

    Just fine

I've never had a moment's trouble from this charger in the past six years until my cats got ahold of it and chewed it to pieces. There is something in the white cable that attracts them...some chemical or smell. They don't chew any black cables, just white ones. Expensive cats. They should get a job.

    I love it!

I've had my Late 2013 Retina MacBook Pro for about two years now, and I absolutely love the MagSafe 2 connector. It's super convenient and has saved my rMBP from a fall more than once. I don't understand everyone complaining about the build quality, I've had mine for two years and I haven't had any issues, and it's not breaking whatsoever. People must just be very irresponsible with their cables. I treat mine normally and it's in nearly perfect condition.

Excellent Quality, No idea why the hate.

The negative reviews of the product are seriously unfounded. I own a 2011 13" MBP and I have never once had to replace its charger. It works fantastically for over 4 years now, nearly 5. The chord is completely intact albeit a bit dirty, no wear can be observed. All my friends who also own MB's also report this lack in issues. Don't listen to the negative reviews, they're just people who simple don't take care of their products or live in a blender.

    I'm Surprised

I have had my 13" Macbook Pro for 5 years and have only just started having troubles with the Power Adaptor this year. That includes having twins constantly pulling at it. I don't know what the bulk of you are doing with your chargers but I think you need to take more care. I'm annoyed that it has finally succumbed and I have to replace it but if I can get another 5 years for $129 or less then I am happy!

What's the problem? Works great, has been durable!

I have had my macbook air for many years, and now have to replace the charger only because my cat chewed through the wire. Cat's lucky he's cute because this charger has been used a lot, tossed around, and was still looking and functioning like new before he sunk his teeth into it.

Not sure what people are doing

I'm honestly not sure what people are doing to their poor chargers, but mine is still going. I've had this for 3 years, and it isn't frayed/not working etc. I use my laptop for hours every day, carry it with me in my backpack, toss it around, and it's still strong as ever. Like I said, not sure how most of these people manhandle their products but if you use it like a human being, it's a great product.

    breaking cord

It hasn't broken yet, but I'm impressed with how well this cord has stood up. I have had my macbook pro for three years and this is still the original power cord! I hope my next one stands up better than others. I really love the design and last year i was pleasantly surprised to find that i was able to cram the adapter into the weird plugs at my schools library. Very good for traveling to and from the library and classes.

    Fabulous Charger

I haven't had any issues with my MacBook Pro charger and I am a busy college student who takes it around and uses it nearly everyday. I am impressed with Apple's designs and I am super happy with how my laptop runs. This cord is easy to use. It has an extension cable or a smaller plug in to save space in my backpack... None of my old PCs had any features like these in the charger cables. Plus I love the LED indicator to let me know if it is 100% charged yet so I don't have to open up the laptop and check when it has been charging. Good work on this design, Apple!

    Why the complaints?

I've had my old power apapter since I've had the old MacBook (late 2008) and have not had a problem. The one I bought two years ago is now frayed, but this can be expected for a power-user. I see people complaining about apple this and apple that. Here's a tip. Don't put your adapter under a lot of strain. To complain about the fraying is ridiculous. It is a wire. All wires are susceptible to damage. Ever notice that your refrigerator's power cable points down? Yeah. That's to prevent damage by eliminating strain. Per gaps you should try that. Laptops are not made to sit in your lap, although the name says so. You must remember that it is a powerful computer that does a lot of work. The processor gets hot. If you don't allow it to ventilate, it's gonna mess up. That is basic electronic information.

    Excellent power adapter

This is a 5-star product! I have had this adapter since 2012 together with my MBP mid 2012 and hasn't given any problems. No deterioration on the L-head connector and even the AC line.

Good investment. I have never had an Apple-made magsafe power adapter fail

I have never had an Apple-made magsafe power adapter fail.

With my first MacBook, I bought two extra power adapters to keep one plugged in at work, and two at home to keep from moving furniture all the time to reach outlets.

It's a huge convenience. It keeps the yanking and bending to a minimum.

It was a good investment, too. After many, many thousands of hours of use, I still have and use both of the extras I bought in 2007. One of them is getting a little grubby from the dog laying on it.

I also know someone who ruins one about every six months. Another person in the same household who uses his MacBook a lot has never replaced one after six years of heavy use.

They are thin but strong enough for heavy daily use with a little care. If you use them rough, expect to replace them more often.

    Power Adapter Works Superbly

First, I am in a wheelchair so the floor is convenient to place the laptop down while I go from my chair to my wheelchair. My adapter works well even though while moving it I stepped on the computer end and it came apart--the round head came apart from the little wires that go into your computer. It works fine because I simply pushed it back together. Why am I buying another one? Because I want to have an adapter in the living room and one in the bedroom (-:

I have been a fan of Apple since 85-86 and there have been no problems at all. FYI: I am 68, did my own graphic design business, retired and I use Apple--everyday. From desktop to laptop, about 10 computers, every new one was based upon my supposed need, and they were/are great.

    Apple MagSafe Power Adaptor

I have been reading several reviews on here, and also have had experience with my own MagSafe adaptor, my partner's with her adaptor, her two daughter's with their adaptors, and my own 3 daughters with their adaptors. First and foremost, let us agree that these adaptors are not indestructible. They will break most commonly at the wire connection going into the MagSafe power box, or at the L or T connector. The question is really, how much care or abuse are you going to subject your MagSafe to? I have worked as an audiovisual tech for a number of years, and have taught them all to wind the cords a certain way to prevent kinking or twisting in the wire (especially after they destroyed their original chargers). Many people like to wind the cord around the two tabs provided on the MagSafe charger box, but when you do this, you put a tremendous strain on the wire which only shortens the life of the unit. Secondly, I have always emphasized not pulling on the cord to disconnect the charger, but rather grabbing the head or the MagSafe charger box. These chargers can last a number of years if you take care of them. I am still working with my original charger from 2008 - 7 years.

Has lasted 7 YEARS and COUNTING!

I bought my macbook pro in 2008 and have used it A LOT going through medical school and beyond. I have the ORIGINAL charger from 2008 and it is still in great shape with no tears (just looks dirty now). I take it everywhere- coffee shops, libraries, everywhere I have studied and even drag it along the floor moving from one couch to another, and it is still in great shape! Which makes me think:

WHAT ARE PEOPLE DOING TO THEIR CHARGERS to make them break in 2 months (previous reviews) when mine has lasted 7 brutal years and counting!?!!

Im finally upgrading to the new 12 macbook but will be giving my current mac and CHARGER to my nephew for continued use.

Dont know what you guys do....

6 years of use, and no issues. My wife has had one for almost 4 years... again, no issues. People must not be using their brains and are either bending the cords or maybe they need to plug into a power conditioner. I know tons of people with MacBooks and NONE of them have this issue. It's like anything else, they aren't indestructible. I have had so many other issues with non-Mac laptops, and you really just can't compare the products!

    Never A Problem

I recently bought a new MagSafe Power Adapter for my 2010 MacBook Pro after not paying attention and my cat chewing the cord in multiple places. I've always been confused by the negative attention, this is one of 3 MagSafe adapters I own and I've never had the issues with fraying cords so many other people mention. I don't know if I'm just lucky because I don't treat these adapters with any sort of care and I carry one with me everywhere I go. Constantly wrapping and unwrapping the cable. I would mention new adapters come with a 1year warranty which comes in handy if anything happens aside from MY CAT CHEWING THE CORD.

Sitting on adapter/power supply actually worked

I found out today that my power supply had stopped working - and with very good reason.
It wasn't anything that Apple can really be held responsible for, unless I just want someone else to blame. (seems to be the in-thing to do).
Anyway, the reason that my power supply stopped working, was the little teeth marks all down the cord. I could even see bare wires in the larger of the holes. I was going to make a kitten leash out of the thing until I read the one post that seemed most unlikely. The author said to 'sit on it'.
I thought that the post was funny, but I also decided to amuse my wife by hatching a repair. Don't you know, the darned thing works.
Maybe because the cable was stretched a different way. Maybe it was the feline god of laughs. Don't know.
Anyway, back to the subject matter. We, my wife and I, have been using Macbook and Macbook pro computers for the last 6 years and have never, ever experienced any problems whatsoever. None - NADA.
Prior to that, with pc's - let me count the ways - I had seven hard drives sitting in a box from old pc's that died - an average of one every 10-12 months. To those that threaten to go back to pc's, life is full of choices.
