    Thin, minimal design.

The lightweight, durable Smart Cover protects your iPad Air screen without covering up its aluminum back. So your iPad still looks and feels like an iPad — just with a little extra protection.

    image.alt.pdp-overview-ipadairsmartcover-design-poly

    Polyurethane design.

The Smart Cover is made of polyurethane. It also features a soft, color-matched microfiber lining that helps keep your display clean.

    image.alt.pdp-overview-ipadairsmartcover-magnetic

    Magnetic connection.

A hinge magnetically aligns the Smart Cover with iPad Air for a perfect fit, while magnets inside help it stay put.

    image.alt.pdp-overview-ipadairsmartcover-keyboard-stand

    Keyboard stand.

The Smart Cover does double duty as a keyboard stand. Fold it back to tilt iPad Air into a comfortable writing position.

    image.alt.pdp-overview-ipadairsmartcover-wake-sleep

Wake on open. Sleep on close.

Open the Smart Cover, and iPad Air magically wakes up. Close it, and iPad Air automatically goes to sleep.

    image.alt.pdp-overview-ipadairsmartcover-facetime

    FaceTime and film stand.

The Smart Cover folds in just the right places to become the perfect FaceTime and film-watching stand.

However, it does not cover the screen of iPad air 2 as flat as it should, due to the change in the thickness of the new iPad model. Imagine the cover always stays precariously on the screen. Apple should really re-design it specific to iPad air 2 and recall the old covers.

      Magnetic function does not...function

When I upgraded to the iPad Air 2, my husband got me the smart cover to go with it. The magnetic hinge fits nice and snugly, but the magnet(s) that supposedly hold the cover in the closed position must be very weak, because it will barely hold itself closed. If I turn it with the screen facing the floor, the cover flops open. The magnet is not strong enough even to hold the weight of the cover, which is extremely light. Furthermore, the cover does not put the iPad to sleep when closed, even if I press and hold it closed along the edge where the magnet should be. It does not work even some of the time. If I want the iPad to sleep, I have to either just wait for it to sleep on its own or put it to sleep manually. It gaps so that I can see that the screen is still on; perhaps the dimensions are off for the iPad Air 2, as there are a number of other reviews that say similar things. The loss of the sleep function is a minor hassle, but given that is is half the purpose of the cover, it is a big deal. Add to that the fact that it won't always stay closed and I'd say don't waste your money. Maybe the Smart Case is better, or you could try one of the third party cases. Some of these are quite good. The smart cover is nice and light and feels and looks good. However, had I known it would turn out this way, I would have told my husband not to waste the $40. Hopefully Apple will improve these so that they work properly, as they are very nice when they do work. I wish Apple would take these defective covers back or do a recall.

The quality is really good, I tried different kind of cleansers to clean it, using a lot force, it didn't even break, now it's good as new!

Ipad smart case tears enough for ipad to fall through

When I looked at the cas My iPad 16g with 3LTE just slid right out the bottom of my sky blue smart case onto our tile floor. Has this happened to anyone else. When I looked at the case it is as if the narrow bead of glue holding it together had disintergrated after just a few years and there is no stitching. Did anyone else experience this. Live in hot climate with seasonal humidity. Please post your thoughts. Has there been a recall I missed Thanks
