how does the time and date stamp work for text messages?

I'm wondering how a group of texts between your phone and another person are time & date stamped. Does a new time-date stamp occur every hour, 2 hours, 24 hours?

  • Not sure I totally understand your question but if you want to see when any message was sent or received then from the list of messages select a conversation and then swipe left on any message in it and it will tell you when it was sent or received. It will show you the actual time not the closest hour or anything like that.
