No, you don't "need" to buy 2 discs, but you need to have a license for each Mac you install it on to.

The license that comes with the US$29 disk limits the installation of the OS to a SINGLE Apple-branded computer.

The license that comes with the Family Pack (US$49) allows installation on up to FIVE Apple-branded computers in the same household.

  • If you bbuy the family pack, you do not need to buy the 2nd disc, bbut if you get the standard upgrade, you do need to buy 2 dics. Family Pack: $50.00 for 3 copies, standard $29.00 for 1 copy.
