  • No, but it may depend on how you plan to use it.

The license for Snow Leopard is for use on one Mac. If the Snow Leopard DVD was purchased in a family pack (no longer available) then the license is for use on up to 5 Macs in a household. (The DVDs are identical, only difference is number of licenses purchased.)

Snow Leopard can be installed as many times as you wish on a computer, on as many partitions or hard drives as you wish with that computer. (This is useful for testing various configurations, or when developing software.)

It can also be installed and used on additional Macs, but one is supposed to have had purchased a license for each Mac it is used on . . . the only way I know to obtain additional licenses is to buy additional Snow Leopard install disks. To my knowledge, having a license for each Mac that Snow Leopard is installed on is via the "honor system".

I assume that, technically, one can "transfer a license" from one computer to another simply by removing (or installing a new OS over top of) Snow Leopard on first Mac.
