I'm considering the purchase of a new MacPro (hexacore) but I don't want to run Lion. Can I purchase and install Snow Leopard instead?

  • Most likely no.

Do an internet search for "How to install Snow Leopard on a brand-new Lion-based Mac". It may work, it may not work. More likely, with the newer hardware, it will not work.

I wouldn't do it with a new Mac... unless I was experimenting with a spare hard drive and attempt to install Snow Leopard on that hard drive, while keeping the Lion hard drive intact.
