If DFS is supported will it then be activated when you chose "Auto" in the channel selection menu?

  • If you set your 5GHz frequency to 'Auto', yes, it does, (presuming it works the same as my Airport Time Capsule does).

In my own experience, the caveat is that it will only use DFS frequencies if it detects at startup that non-DFS channels (36 and 149, for the purposes of 802.11ac in the United States) are already in use. That is, it does an interference check at startup and if it feels it can operate reasonably on either 36 or 149, it will do so.

If it does not believe it can, it will go to a DFS frequency. I have at various times seen my time capsule operate on channel 128 or 132.
