can you connect a Macbook Air to Imac 27" via thunderbolt cable?

I have a mid 2011 IMac 27" that isn't working right. I have a MacBook Air I would like to view on the IMac 27" monitor screen. Can I do this using the MacBook Air power and the IMac 27" just for viewing to take advantage of a bigger screen? I also have a Thunderbold cable I was told to buy to do this from Apple technical support, but need instruction on how to install it successfully.

As long as both your mid 2011 iMac 27" and your MackBook Air are "Thunderbolt" compatible, then you should have no problem and be able to use the bigger screen. I'm not sue if the mid 2011 IMac 27" were built with Thunderbolt capability, but you should be able to figure the out yourself. Hope this information is useful to you, and good look.
