Depends on what you mean by that. You cannot receive live cable television, but you can stream everything you can access online to the AppleTV (which should be connected to your TV) and enjoy it on the big screen.
As an example, you can go to live.cnn.com on your iMac and play the live stream that you see in the browser on your TV through AirPlay, but you cannot receive the CNN cable channel through the AppleTV.

  • I got an Eye TV for my iMac - and with a free AppStore app - can connect all of my iPad/iPhone devices. The box is a dual tuner and is perfect for watching HD TV on the iMac or other devices. www.elgato.com

  • If you're asking what I think you're asking (basically "can I use my iMac as a screen for my Apple TV?"), then no you can't.
