I want to give my iPhone 4 to my daughter to use as an iPod when I get the 5. Is this possible?

    yes, just don't put any sim into it.

  • Yes. It is very capable iPod, indeed. Simply put, removing the SIM card renders the phone to a very well optioned iPod. Just remember to delete any, if not all incriminating photos (naughty), notes (christmas gift list, etc.), passwords to zeros for her to customize, etc., etc. Now that being said, the phone will still have access to Wi-Fi at any available source allowing web surfing. Also, to simply install a pay-as-you-go "micro" SIM card from the locked in service provider with a new phone number, OR, unlocking the phone using any one of internet available unlock sites, and voila, ANY "micro" SIM card will do, and the phone is up and running. Yes, a very capable iPod indeed !
