The keyboard I have right now is the old version of the mac keyboard, it is so bad, tab caps lock and esc don't work and I don't think they ever have besides about two weeks of me getting it, but I'm buying this new one on the weekend with high hopes. :)

    Awesome Keyboard!!

This keyboard feels great! I bought one of the "old Apple keyboards" because my poor MacBook Pro internal keyboard died (long story) which served it's purpose but never helped me reclaim the mobility I desire.

Enter the new, sleek and sexy aluminum keyboard.
It's really light, very portable, and the keys have a great tactile feedback, and boy is it quiet. Now I can roam about the house without the clunkiness of the old keyboard and have a clean workspace.

It's pretty expensive currently (9/15/07) at $50.00, which may be a turnoff to some but I highly recommend it for it's great design, feel, and mobility.

Sweet... works on my powerbook & old Dell w/win 2000!

    Amazing keyboard!

Does have a learning curve, more like a large laptop type feel, but clean & good... and might be the new standard.

About a 1/2 inch shorter than old Apple wireless/standard keyboard in size.

But keys & spacing not mushed together. And I have large hands.

I bought it... the wired version, because another reviewer said that it would work in windows. I have to keep a Dell 2000 & Toshiba XP going for some work... and this keyboard will be switched out when the wireless version with keypad comes out! It works no problem on Windows 2000 & XP.

I was so sick & tired of cleaning my old open face apple keyboard! And felt guilty using canned air, too try to keep it clean.

    Totally worth it!

Now if Apple will make the same thing wireless... with number-pad (some of us have to play with them daily) I'd buy another one in a second!!!

    Finally A Usable Keyboard!

I had multiple strokes a couple of years back and it has been very difficult to type with a regular keyboard with raised keys. Apple's new slimline keyboard lets me type like I used to be able to. Thanks Apple!

    New Apple Keyboard

Best computer keyboard I've ever used! Fast to type on, easy to clean, hefty and stays "put" and it's gorgeous.

If only Apple's mice were this well designed.

I gotta admit, I was a little skeptical to begin with, given the price tag for this jewel, but I'm seriously considering just buying one for my work Mac as well just so that I can have a great experience there too.

Whoever said it in a review is right, you just touch these keys. No effort is needed to use this keyboard, just the lightest touch. It makes me want to write more, type more, keep using it. When has a keyboard ever given you that feeling?

If only Apple would pay as much attention to their mice devices. The Mighty Mouse now looks so out of place next to this pristine wonder. Maybe they'll soon come out with a new wireless Mighty Mouse that matches and is as much of a breeze to use ... and that lets me right-click easily.

    Best keyboard

I have used scores of keyboards over the past 25 years. The old plastic white Apple keyboards were the worst that I have ever used -- I hated them. This keyboard is the absolute best I have ever used! It's solid, tight, and enables very fast typing with little wasted motion.

I replaced my oldkeyboard because my space bar was sticking and now the space bar on this new keyboard only works about 60% of the time. If I hit the bar, exactly in the middle - nothing. Taking it back tomorrow.

    Great keyboard!

Loved it from day one. It did take me a while to figure out that I had to download software to use it with my new Mac Mini. Once this was done, I love the feel of the keys and it's sleek design. Great product and worth it.

    One word - PERFECT!

Finally a keyboard whose keys respond without a long distance stroke path - you touch the keys rather then having D E P R E S S them. Brings new meaning to "touch typing". I LOVE this keyboard!!

And forget about gunk getting down into the keyboard and impairing your keyclicks - or like with that nasty see-through keyboard, seeing everything that and fallen inside and you couldn't get out!. The closed nature of the keyboard is wonderful.

Don't the let thinness fool you. This is one heavy weight, sturdy, hardworking keyboard.

    Apple Keyboard

Hands down the best keyboard I have ever used. My typing speed has improved dramatically. You can also eat your danish in the morning without worrying about the crumbs falling down between the keys.

just bought the keyboard and was a little skepitcal when buying it, not sure if I would hate it. I love the macbook keyboard so I thought I would probably love it. Got home, unwrapped and I must say it is AWESOME! Even feels like I'm typing faster (and I type really really fast already). Good job apple, keep up the good work.

    LOVE this keyboard!!!

Just received the new slim full length keyboard to replace my apple bluetooth one. I love the way the keys feel, the fact that there is no open voids for dirt, dust and food to fall in and that it has 2 USB ports where the BT one didn't have any.

The new key placements for volume and eject etc take a few min to get used to but in the end, it all makes sense and is rather flawless!

    A++ so far!!!

    Best 50 bucks I've spent

I replaced a worn-out, terminally dirty white keyboard with the aluminum model, and I am thoroughly pleased. After using the new one, a conventional keyboard seems to require much too much effort. It is a pleasure not to hear the tickety-tick of large, clunky keys any more. The tactile response is superb, because of the low-profile keys my fingers remain much closer to the keyboard, and typing is substantially faster with fewer mistakes. Given the premium prices charged for most Apple products, for $50 the aluminum keyboard is the best bargain Apple has ever offered.

    Toy Keyboard

I hated this keyboard with it's chiclet keys and not enough angle adjustment. Not only did I send it back, I immediately ordered a bunch of the previous white keyboards to stockpile. It does look good, though and thus the single star.

    Absolutely Incredible!

This is hands down the best keyboard that I've ever used! The crisp response of the keys, the low profile and the beautiful sleek design make this one of the best, most enjoyable and most beautiful keyboards that I've ever used.

    it's decent product

I find all the negative reviews odd. I mean sure if you have a preference of keyboard that's one thing, but to call this the "worst keyboard" is quite a stretch. I like it, it feels much more like a laptop keyboard but with a little more space between keys. The keys are sensitive enough that it requites just a little tap. Normal keyboards make me feel like I'm playing "whack-a-mole." Additionally I've seen some people comment about having to "hit the space bar just right." Not sure what that's about as I haven't experienced any problems like that. Long story short... if you like laptop keyboards I think you'll dig this. If not, stick with your "whack-a-mole" keyboard.

Very nice overall, but good for pro users?

Picked this up for my G5 tower the other day. Love it. The keys feel great, and I don't have to worry about dirt accumulating between keys anymore.

Only complaint is that the function keys often overwrite the same keys as some applications, requiring me to change the keyboard shortcuts for insert/overwrite edits in FCP, for example. But in Dreamweaver where you can't change the Preview in Browser shortcuts, even using the command key with F12 doesn't work. In fact, using any modifier (cmd, ctrl, opt) key with assigned function keys no longer seems to do anything except what the key is labeled to do. Kind of odd. Hopefully a future keyboard software update will change this, and also allow some more flexibility with using the function keys in general.

Also, using a G5, I had to do some fiddling around to get the Dashboard and Expose keys (F2, F3) to work.

So the keyboard itself feels great, but pro users will have to make some adjustments. Not a deal breaker for me, but worth knowing.

Would be better if it had backlighting option

The new Apple keyboard feels much like that of the ones on my Powerbook.

Would have been more useful if it had the back lighting option like on the Powerbook and newer portable Mac.
