    Nice but...

I dont understand why Apple changed the F keys layout. Its nice having a little icon for dashboard and All windows, but what about the Desktop and Application windows buttons. Possibly they will not feature in Leopard, but how about a button for spaces?

Great with Mac, not with a KVM switch!

    Nice keyboard!
I use an IOGear KVM switch with a mini & a powerbook. The new keyboard won't work with with the KVM no matter HOW nice it is to look at & type on! It's going back to the store tomorrow & the old keybd goes back into service (sigh...) The PC guys have to love this!

    Amazing.

This keyboard is amazing. It's beautiful, light, and thin. It works with windows vista and is super responsive its officially my new gaming keyboard.

Apple hits the right buttons every time...

The new Apple keyboard has once again set a benchmark for other computer manufacturers to look to with envy. Not only are they the best looking keyboard you're likely to see on your desk, they work like nothing else. Rapid response, silky smooth, and gently quiet on the ears... and as a less than average typist, the new keyboard has actually improved my typing abilities markedly. You don't have to be a fan of everything Apple to appreciate just how well designed the new keyboard is - it feels just so right and looks even better.

    Nice with some problems

I love the look and feel. I especially love the upper function keys for dashboard. Apple overlooked a very important shortcut. The option key no longer works when you boot the mac to choose partitions to boot from. This is big for me because I actually use mine as a PC for work. Just a minor one that is big for me. Hopefully they will fix this soon!

    I simply love it!!

This is by far the best key board I have ever owned. While I had problems with the short cut key initially, like others using the Mac Pro, I have since fixed the problem and the key board has been just wonderful.

    Great, but not perfect.

The apple software update did not fix the broken dashboard/exposé keys as it should have, and others are having a similar problem.

The keyboard is one of the best Ive ever used. However, my other gripe with besides the broken Fkeys is that the USB ports a placed in a way that many things like USB Audio adapters or key drives simply won't fit. And the extender cable that apple provides is notched to intentionally prevent using it for any other reason other than to extend the keyboard.

It's a great keyboard, but I'm slightly disappointed in these software/design errors.

    USB doesn't support Ipod

While I love the low profile design of this keyboard and the smooth looks, the 2.0 USB ports do not support my ipod. I received this keyboard along with my new IMac. While I LOVE my IMac, it is a real pain to move it around just to plug in the iPod. I wish they would have truly tested these before they began telling us that you can plug in your iPod. Also, watch out! If you are wearing colored nail polish, it will rub off on the textured keys... My keyboard is now sporting pretty red stripes on it!

Apple, what took you so long?!?

I've been through dozens of keyboards. This keyboard is - by far - the best keyboard I have *ever* used on a desktop computer. This beats the old Fujitsu/IBM clickety classic, and even that no-name short-thow clickety keyboard that I used to speed through forum posts with.

I own a Macbook, and this keyboard is very similar - but with the solid backing of the aluminum frame, it's the best yet.

    Well worth the investment.

    Ergonomic and Stylish

I was a little apprehensive about purchasing the new keyboard, after hearing about industry analysts mixed feelings when they first saw it, but, after having used it for a few days, I have to say, it is an incredibly ergonomic keyboard that is surprisingly easy to type on. Though I consider myself a fast typer already, I can feel a substantial improvement when I'm typing on this over my MacBook Pro's built-in keyboard. Beyond that, it's surprisingly sleek and thin, and despite looking different is a stylish improvement to any desktop.

    Absolutely Wonderful!

I received this keyboard with the new 24" iMac that I just purchased, and I love it. The keys are like those of the MacBook, and the body is just beautiful. My only qualm is that I can no longer use control+F3 to access the Dock...I have to use control+fn+F3, which is a big stretch. Other than that minor inconvenience, it is nearly perfect.

    Excellently Designed Keyboard.

I was surprised by the thinness of the keyboard when I recieved it, even after seeing all the pictures. It is very easy to handle, and feels incredibly sturdy. The keys feel great while typing with them. The position of the special functions is a little weird, but I will get used to it. I love it.

    WOW!

I have never had much use for keyboards as long as I've had my MacBook Pro. I've always just tossed my hands up on the top-case and typed away. But I started to see signs of wear, in the form of what could best be described as "sweat damage".

But just recently, when Apple replaced my top-case because of a malfunctioning touch-pad button, I knew it was time to finally get a keyboard. I didn't want to, in six months, find my laptop worn down.

This keyboard is beautiful. Has a perfect amount of button recoil. And if you use the standard MacBook, you'll feel truly at home.

The ONLY complaint I have, is that the USB ports on the sides, don't give off enough power for a mobile hard drive or an iPod dock. But a Mighty Mouse works just fine.

All in all, this is the future of keyboards, no doubt.

    Dirty Keys!!!

I think this keyboard is great. I really like its formfactor. Having said that I have one complaint. The keys get dirty very fast. My space bar, return, delete, O, P, L, and ; Keys are all dirty from use. I clean them with a slightly damp paper towel and they get dirty again within a day or two. I have not heard of this problem from anyone else. I wonder if I got one with out some sort of coating on the keys that keep them looking nice.

No real feel to it and too small

Without a doubt, this is the worst keyboard I've ever struggled with. It's so thin as to feel like a toy. They keys are too short and don't provide worthwhile feedback. It's hard to touch-type on it without hitting other keys accidentally. And why is dashboard now on F2?

Throw out your old and bring in the new!

Simply, this is the neatest, slimmest and smartest keyboard for any desktop computer in the world. I'm not being biased as personally I really don't like the look of the 'new' iMac and I think the new nano is plain ugly, but this fantastic piece of Apple art makes the old Apple keyboard look like something that Adam and Eve would've used to email God!
If only the new iMac was as revolutionary (remember the G4?) *sigh*

    Where'd the Apple logo go?

Are they trying to phase out their own logo? The first thing I noticed about the new keyboard is that they are missing the Apple logo on the Command button. That has been on every keyboard made by Apple since the Macintosh came out.

Other than that, this keyboard is nice. I miss the old key configurations, however. I like having the volume buttons on the right hand side as well as eject. I also wish the bluetooth keyboard was a full keyboard. I want a full featured desktop computer, that is completely wireless but its not full-featured without a full keyboard. Hrm....

I think I'll keep the white wireless keyboard.

I am kind of in the middle with these new keyboards. I like and dislike them.

    I agree

I can type faster on this keyboard than any other I have used.

    Buy this keyboard.

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars

OMG You can actually type with this thing

But that's about it, first of all. For a company that presents itself as being so much more user friendly that windows I'm a little surpriced at having to do a 16MB download and a reboot to get this thing to work, (IT'S A KEYBOARD!!!) which it doesn't btw, I can type, but that's about it. I can't control the volume, the keys are wrongly mapped, for example the dashboard shortcut isn't f4 at all like the symbol on the actual key says, it's f12, and so many more incredibly annoying bugs.

And needless to say this was the most expensive keyboard I have ever purchased, and the first that I had to download drivers to, welcome to 2007!

And for some reason, my dock doesn't animate anymore...
