The Greatest, Sexiest and Most Silent...

    Need I say more?

The things is beautiful, thin and clean. I had the last version of the Mac wireless keyboard and the thing held garbage like a trash can. This thing has no nooks and crannies, just sleek, smooth surface. Its so silent when you type, make those plastic buttons of the last version look like dinosaurs.

Trust me, I don't work for Apple at all... but I'd support a great product. This keyboard is the BOMB!

    Beautiful keyboard, but

with what seem to be a couple of bugs.

First, just let me contribute to the applause regarding this keyboard - it is beautiful, amazingly sleek and wonderful to write on. I just love it.

However, like a couple of others I have discovered that there is something strange regarding the function keys (F1 and so on). The F3 and F4 does not work according to symbols on them (Expose All windows and Open Dashboard), while the other keys with symbols on them work as indicated by their symbols.
Instead, Expose All windows and Open Dashboard are still under F9 and F12, but has to be released with the "fn" key.

And unless I check "Use all F1,F2, etc. keys as standard function keys" (System preferences - Keyboard & Mouse - Keyboard), a lot of the other shortcuts stop working. But by checking this option, the "fn" key has to be pushed to adjust the volume on the F11-F12 keys and so on. Then again, the Expose, Dashboard and other keys work as they did on the old keyboard...

Something is not working as it should... :-)

Rating: 5 stars for the keyboard, 3 stars for what seems to be a driver/software problem

PS: Yes, I have installed the update for this keyboard.

    Love it!!!

This is a keyboard that people will either love it or hate it. To me, this is the best desktop keyboard I've ever used because it's so compact and the keys feels so nice. I know a lot of others prefer the older types because it has a better feel than this one, but this is my review and I love it so I'm going to give it 5 stars. ^^V

Walking on water for your fingers delight!!!

The new Apple keyboard is the best input device design in the world. With keystrokes as smooth as wind over your skin and just as pleasing to the eye as the finger. A definite five star product!!!

    Mine works with iPod !!!

Interesting reading that others have had poor results with iPod and other higher power-required USB devices. So far, I've been able to use anything that I plugged into the keyboard, including my iPod Video. Not sure why others are having an issue.

Other than that, the keyboard is terrific. I thought I wouldn't like it when I first saw it. It did take a while to get used to, but now I enjoy its tactile feel, its slim design and solid construction. Well done.

    Works well with PC

I got this keyboard because I loved the light feeling of a laptop keyboard with a numpad. This keyboard delivers that very well. It works just fine with windows xp except for the multimedia buttons. As for the USB ports it is no different than what everyone else has experienced. I can use it to transfer files from my USB keys but not for my Ipod or anything else that requires power. If you are looking for a slim keyboard with a very light touch this is a great option.

    MOMA Material!

This keyboard is simply put, the sexiest piece of computer gear I've ever seen and owned! It is, without a doubt, a masterpiece of indusrial art and deserves its own pedestal in the halls of MOMA! The keys are solid and have just the right amount of tactility and resistance. Aesthetics and solid performance combined! My only wish is that Apple would also release a software update for Windows users; so we too could use all of the keyboard's function keys and other special features. Best $49.00 I've spent for a long time! Well deserved kudos to Apple!

    Simply...

    ...the best keyboard ever made!

Why four Stars? Because there is a localization bug that make impossible for users with foreign language System setting (non-english) to access the Keyboard Shortcut Preference Pane.

But there's a workaround: Set your System language (System Preferences/International) to "English", log out and in again and you'll get access to the Keyboard Shortcut Preference Pane. Make your setting, replace the System language to yours, log out and in again, et voilà!

Keyboard software update 1.1 doesn't correct the bug. Will see with 1.2!

Besides all this, it's the best keyboard touch I ever felt, well done Apple.

Huge improvement! No more crumb catcher!

I love the low profile and the feel of the keys - much better on my hands. However, the best part is the new design that eliminates the clear case on the bottom - the one that catches all the debris. This one will be much easier to clean.

Excellent Keyboard, superior to all other market keyboards!

This keyboard is excellent, and the usb ports are no problem, I run a usb mighty mouse from one and transfer songs to my 80gb video ipod from the other. The keyboard is made from titanium and aluminum which makes it very strong unlike plastic logitech and microsoft keyboards that bend and scweak when you type. The keyboard is very powerful in a small and sleek size, I type at least twice as fast and its several times more comofortable than the old Apple keyboards. Owell I brought several of these for my mac pro and vista PCs. It's amazing.

    Great design/under powered USB ports

The original description of this keyboard said you could connect iPods, cameras and printers to the USB ports. They have since corrected the description to say that you can connect all those things but only if the keyboard is connected to a new iMac. Hopefully Apple will realize that more people than the new iMac users want a good keyboard. Until then, I guess I'll go back to my old clear and white "crumb-catcher"... at least it will let me connect flash drives and cameras.

    Apple Keyboard works great!

This keyboard works excellent! The only thing is is that you need to have your computer updated to the latest version of Mac OS X in order for it to work. I think this is because the F-keys are different from the previous Apple keyboard. The USB ports work great on this keyboard. I hooked up my printer and my Mighty Mouse and they work really well.

This keyboard is modeled after the MacBook keyboard, and I just happen to have a MacBook. The only reason why I use a keyboard with it is because the keyboard on the MacBook is a little small for me. The price for the Apple keyboard is good, too. $49.

Kudos to Apple and the design team for another wonderful, eye-pleasing product.

    F3 and F4 not working?

Great look and feel to this keyboard. Another piece of functional art from Apple. Nice response to the keys when typing. But, after downloading and installing the Apple Keyboard Update, two function keys (F3 and F4) do not work. Hmmm. sez I. Pismo running 10.4.10 with a gig of ram so everything should work as advertised... in theory.

    Overall, nice product

Overall, mostly satisfied with product, especially when compared previous model with the larger clear plastic frame…which was horrible to type on. I truly considered all the feedback (negative too) before buying, so here is what I consider to be a fair, balanced review…

Pros: Smooth typing very similar to working on a laptop keypad--short relief and very responsive keys—so not recommended for people who prefer stiffer, larger PC-style boards. Easier to clean, unlike previous iMac board which would collect dust and small crumbs. Most of all, excellent ergonomics. Angle and placement of keys is very conducive to typing for long periods of time. Obviously a beautiful, aesthetically pleasing design…as usual.

Cons: Biggest complaint, NO POWERED USB ports. No longer can you plug in flash drives (or any powered device from what I hear) to the board, a clear advantage of the previous model. Apple advertises this product as being able to power such devices, but this is not the case…very disappointing. It does, however, power my Logitech wireless mouse receiver. Also the ports themselves are tucked away, making plug-ins slightly more inconvenient.

In a nutshell: Highly improved over last model, with the exception of USB issue, which for me, isn’t enough to not prefer this product over the last. For me, it’s mostly about smooth typing and comfort. I would like to comment on some negative feedback within this forum that almost prevented me from getting this product. It was noted in one case the space bar had a significant response delay. I have yet to experience this problem. It could be a personal typing style and you may just need to adapt to this particular keyboard, as you do ANY. Someone also raised a concern about cheap plastic keys. FYI, they ARE cheap plastic keys…everything around you is made of cheap plastic, why nitpick the keyboard? Overall, if comfort and accuracy in typing is most important to you, I would highly recommend this keyboard.

    Awesome!

I picked up the new keyboard after reading some reviews and struggling with my fat keyed G4 iMac keyboard for some time. The depth at which the key must be pressed to get a response is much less than that of a standard keyboard. The fact that the thing is so thin allows for your wrists to sit pretty naturally on the desk (ergonomically correct). I'm beginning to wonder if I should get one for my work PC as well!

    Not bad, expected better

I like the look of this keyboard. I do have a few issues with it though. The FKeys numbers are too small. What required a quick glance now has me stopping to search for the right FKey. The flat buttons look great but they all feel the same now. I'm having to look to see where my fingers are placed. That slows me down. I liked the curved buttons of the old keyboard much more. They had a more unique feel. The USB ports are recessed about an inch in from the sides. You now have to flip the keyboard up to plug something in. The Eject key belongs in the top right corner of the keyboard. Putting it next to the F12 key is a mistake. I do like that the ports are USB 2 and the really flat muted sound the keys make when you tap them.

I noticed that my Apple Store still had a few of the old keyboards for sale. I think I'll go and pick up a couple of those.

    Greatest Keyboard Ever!

I am a huge Apple fan. The mighty mouse was kind of a flop for me but this new keyboard is top notch. The keys are just under 2mm rising from the aluminum frame. The first time I wrote an Email it was the most fluid message I have ever sent. A wise investment to all who buy.
