    IMac Keyboard

Fantastic looking keyboard .. slim, matches silver color, 2 USB ... all good, but lousy in typing. Space bar is hard to press ... must be press just the right angle. I make too many errors in general. Feels like typing notebook keyboard.

Worth ditching the old one for!

I got this to replace the one that came with my imac a couple of years ago. The old one acted like a bucket collecting all of the dust and crumbs (I know I shouldn't eat at my computer but I do) and because it's see through, you can see it all but you can't get at it! Not with this new one. It looks cool and crisps have nowhere to go. Perfect. The travel on the keys is just right and the labelled shortcuts are just perfect for newbies who may not discover the joys of Expose and being able to control i tunes from the keyboard. Some have said it gets a while to get used to the keys not going in as far but didn't people once complain that keyboards didn't feel as nice to use as type writers? I'd like to see someone build a keyboard with mechanical weights in it to replicate that and see if it sells. This keyboard is the best I've ever owned. (and yes I own a type writer too)

New Keyboard Is Not Solid State

I have owned this keyboard for a couple weeks and already the "S" key has popped off. Of all the keys to pop off. This is like a cruel joke. This new keyboard is like a cheap toy.

    Solid Hardware Design

This is a great piece of gear. No more klunky rattling keys. Good weight, sturdy chassis. Nice move Apple!

    Nice solid keyboard!

I have just received my keyboard direct from Apple after only ordering it on Friday.

I am replacing an 8 month old white keyboard from my Mac Pro Tower. Nothing wrong with the keyboard, I have just got used to typing on the keyboard on my Macbook at home and it puts a lot less strain on my arm (after sustaining an injury last year - not Mac related!).

The new keyboard is nice and solid and very responsive. It doesn't move around and has a nice precise feel to the key clicks. And it's oh so quiet, much quieter than the last keyboard! My co-workers have told me so!

As for the function keys, I don't know what the fuss is all about. In System Preferences>Keyboard and Mouse, I simply checked the FN radio button.
So now in Quark, Photoshop etc all my usual Function buttons work as they should do and to access the 'quick key' functions printed on the keys, I simply hit FN (above the arrow keys) and then the desired key. Believe me, I use the Quark/Photoshop/Illustrator function keys a lot more than I turn up or down the volume or adjust the brightness of the screen!

And as to the guy having a problem with the eject key not working... not a problem for me, but there is always 'apple+E' or even having the eject button sat up in the menu bar so you don't even need to have a keyboard attached.

This is a superb addition to my desktop. I love it!

    What's not to love?

The new Apple keyboard is amazing. It's beautiful and sleek, the action is so light it's a joy to use, and it's amazingly quiet. Fantastic!

    Sweet

Satisfied with the fact that this new keyboard is light and not as bulky as the previous keyboard that came with my Mac when I bought it. Also, the ultra thin buttons require less pressure to type, which is also a huge welcome. I would have gone wireless, but the number keypad was not included. That's the only negative about this product. I also like the fact that Apple provided me with a usb extended cable for my flash drive. it matches the color of my iMac. Gracias!

    Best Mac Keyboard to date.

I got this keyboard with my new 20" iMac. It is the most responsive and sensitive Mac keyboard I have owed to date. The only other keyboard I've enjoyed using that comes close is the one on my G3 Clamshell iBook. My wife said this keyboard was almost too sensitive when she was first using it. She wants to get one to replace the old keyboard on the G3 iMac that she is using after getting rid of her HP laptop.

Beautiful, but too many problems for me.

Can only be plugged into back of iMac, leaving only 2 USB ports open for all the other equipment that wants those ports. The USB ports on keyboard won't even run my trackball or pen tablet or Compact Flash Reader. (Not enough power???) The space bar has to be really punched to work. As I said I find it beautiful and it looks good on my desk, but I would like my money back!

    Apple Keyboard Rocks!!!

I've had the Apple Wired Keyboard for about 10 minutes now and I already love it! It is so easy to type on and it is very thin. I would have gotten wireless but it cuts off the numpad and there is no USB connecters on the sides.

    I HATE THIS KEYBOARD

this keyboard is not very responsive. I have to type almost everything twice when using short cuts. It may look cool, but I miss the old keys and how sensitive they were. I don' recommend it for anyone trying to actually work.

    Best keyboard I've ever used

This keyboard is utterly fantastic. The feel of the keys is only slightly deeper than most laptop keyboards, which means that you get the right soft feel while still feeling as if you've really hit something. The pressure that needs to be applied is fairly low – a tiny bit high for my taste but most people would find lower pressure uncomfortable. The Caps Lock key is slightly temperamental, but only slightly. There is about 3 mm between the keys, so you're less likely to hit a key you didn't mean to. The texture of the keys is quite smooth, but not glossy, and nice to the touch. Although the enter key is a bit small, I do not find this is a problem, although I occasionally miss the backspace key. The overall feel is much better than the clunky keyboards most computers are equipped with. The position of the function key is a bit odd, but feels natural once you're used to it. Some people would find the layout of the keyboard has a few problems, e.g. there is no displayed hash key (accessed via option-3).
The looks of this keyboard are fantastic too. Apple have finally removed their logos from the command keys, although the symbols for control ("^") and backspace ("⌫") are not shown and the option keys still have "alt" written on them for no apparent reason. The keys are white with grey letters (not illuminated unfortunately), set against a brushed aluminium background. The back is white and glossy, and easily sustains fingerprints, but I don't really know why you'd be looking at the back anyway. The colours used will look good in almost any environment.
The USB ports are incredibly useful, albeit a bit low – fatter USB sticks can't be plugged in. They also don't have quite the same amount of energy as the ones built in to your computer.
The cable has an extension and is about 2m long altogether.
Overall: Fantastic, although it will probably take a while to get used to for those used to mechanical keyboards.

    Favorite keyboard ever.

    Reasons to love?

    1. Touch typing is faster than ever, with exact key edges and precise, efficient key travel.
    2. Slim design frees up desk space without sacrificing features or ergonomics
    3. Looks hawt hawt hawt

One small complaint -- I like the USB ports, but why are they recessed so deep? I have to pick up the keyboard to plug in my thumb drive.

    A great keyboard!

Just got it today. I had the old white thick one (got my iMac a year ago) and this one is great. Granted some of the function keys are different (the dashboard now has it's own key with the symbol on it among other ones), but I can't say a bad thing about it. It's great to toss the wrist support thing I had and the keys work so smoothly. It's very easy to type on. I would highly recommend it and wonder why I waited so long to get it.

    Highly recommended

This keyboard looks fantastic and is an absolute pleasure to use. In a crowded work environment the near silence of the keys is a revelation. The slim profile and small travel distance of keys means it is less tiring to use than any other keyboard I've tried. And the special function keys for Dashboard, Exposé and volume adjustment, for example, are quick and easy to use.
Furthermore the keyboard gathers less dirt than other models, and is easy to clean.
This is the best keyboard I have ever encountered.

    Keyboard lacks functionality

Finally broke my work keyboard. Three years is a pretty good run. The new one I got as a replacement isn't as good. Here's why. Apple has removed the function keys, or maybe made the common ones so that they are geared for Mac functions. The main thing I don't like is the disk eject button. If I have to boot up from a disk utility disk, on restart the disk eject key fails to eject the disk. So, I go through a lot of restarts trying to get the disk out of my superdrive before I have to crawl under the desk and hook up my old, broken keyboard, so I can get the boot disk out of my drive. Not cool.

    Love it!

I love this Keyboard! Not only does it look wonderful - It's easy to type on too. I do think you'll either LOVE this keyboard or hate it.. But I LOVE it and i can't stand typing on those huge cluncky keyboards anymore.

    Wonderful Keyboard

This keyboard is Sleek, ergonomic, well designed, and most of all... thin! It brightens up my desk and my day. It makes typing more enjoyable than with my old PC keyboard and even extends my USB ports. I would recommend this for everyone.

Ok keyboard, beware of USB ports

Both USB ports are not powered. In order to use USB ports, devices being plugged into them must have their own power source.
1st trial: 1GB Sandisk Ultra II USB SD card did not work in either port. Warning displays on Mac screen, suggesting to use Mac USB port or powering USB device on it's own. Sandisk Ultra II USB SD card worked when inside camera, camera plugged into USB port, and camera power on.

Next, clearance around both USB ports is limited. USB thumb drive didn't clear area in front of USB receptacle. Picture on website of keyboard is deceiving. USB ports are set back 1" from outside of keyboard.

Lastly, a 3' USB extension custom matching cable is in package. For some reason, female end of cable is designed to only work the keyboard male receptacle and nothing else.
If the above was known, the wireless bluetooth keyboard would be on my desk in it's stead.
