    Love & Dislike relationship

I love the look and feel of the new apple keyboard. But i don't like what was done with the remapping of the F7 - f12 keys.
i like the f16-19 keys as audio and expose and now spaces in the f8-12 area
i know its cohesive with the wireless layout but an unwelcome change in my book. I know i can remap them back but .... Maybe someone will sell replacement keys of NICE stickers.. maybe i should make them....

    Pleasemakethespacebarwork!

It may be because of my typing style, but it seems I have to hit the space bar ridiculously hard to get it to register, and I often have to slow WAY down to ensure I don't get joined words. Other than that, I like it... but this one thing is pretty important when it comes to keyboard usage.

Does not work with Macbook Pro!

I ordered one of these so I could have a full sized keyboard layout for use with 3D modeling software but when I received it, installed the required software update and tryed to use it my computer had a kernel panic and needed to be rebooted before doing anything else. Once rebooted the keyboard either wouldn't register keystrokes or would just act as though I were holding down a key until I unplugged the USB cable. Plugging the keyboard back in would then cause another kernel panic and reboot.

Apple Support walked me through clearing the battery cache and several other vague attempts before giving up and trying to ship me a new one. They claimed it was a hardware conflict and a new one would solve the problem. The problem with that is they don't know the Product Number as their internal numbering system doesn't match any numbers on the keyboard or packaging. Finally they gave up on a normal exchange and just ordered me a new one from the Apple Store.

I received the replacement the very next day and have the SAME EXACT ISSUES. There is apparently no way to get this keyboard to work with my year old Macbook Pro.

Has a great feel when you type

This may sound weird, but since I have long fingernails which I use to type, when I first started using this keyboard my fingers wouldn't hit the keys just right and I was quite frustrated. However, we all learn to adapt and now my fingers "float". Took my thumb a day to adjust to the shallower profile – I kept missing the "control" key.

After 2 weeks, I still haven't mastered holding down "caps lock" for that split second longer to turn on caps. Quite annoying to have typed something then have to go back and do it again.

The function keys layout has changed (19 function keys now) and I wish they'd left the eject button where it was, but I love that the function keys have dual functions.

Am I happy? You bet! Wish my boss would get me one for work...

    A Must Have

I know this my sound Odd. But I like the feel of a Laptop keyboard with that medium drop and nice reflex back.

The sound is great and there is no mushy feeling at all. You KNOW when you hit a key. I type faster on this than any other keyboard I have ever used.

My NEW Mac Pro came with the old one (I hated) and they told me it would have this. I went back to Apple store and they did the right thing. I felt like a 6 year old... I was so happy.

Everyone that sees it in my office is soooo jealous!

    Winner!

    Electric shocks

I love my new keyboard, it's beautiful, slim (but the buttons haven't been sacrificed in size).

My only problem is that I'm getting electric shocks from it. I'm getting shocked on average 10 times a day. It's when I leave and then come back to my keyboard. Is my keyboard telling me that I shouldn't ever leave it? Please, someone tell me if this is normal or if I should send my keyboard back? I've had it about 1 week now.

I give it a 5 out of 5 but if it didn't give me shocks maybe it'd give it a 6.

    best keyboard ever

I was worried about getting this as an external keyboard for my powerbook as I'm on 10.3.9 and the box says it requires 10.4.10 but I took a gamble. Fortunately, all the typing keys works as normal as you'd expect, I can use expose on F9, 10 and 11 as I could with my previous apple pro keyboard, brightness on F14 & 15, the only downside is losing the volume keys. However, my laptop's not far away and I have a control on my speakers too. But aside from the technicalities it is absolutely fantastic to type with. Really fast, no effort, and I'm hardly missing any keys even at speed. I'm so glad I didn't wait till I get Tiger or Leopard. Brilliant!

sleek design but sacrifices some ergonomics

I love the way it looks and feels. key length is short making your typing noticeably quicker. I think my biggest complaint is that it is nice and sleek but it sits way to low. even lower than a standard laptop keyboard. It tends to hide under my 6"x11" wacom tablet which is already thin and low profile itself. I have to prop up the back of it on the base of my LCD. I think apple should package a simple base for it to sit about an inch higher in the back. Also I hate that apple moved around all the F-- keys. Should have left the musical controls where they were and same with dashboard.

    Very sevlt!

All things considered, this is a great keyboard. I use it mainly for common applications, so my view may not be terribly wide. I have only one complaint, however. This may be my own typing style or touch, but at least 2-3 time in a paragraph, it misses the space bar signal, despite my contacting it, and I get joinedwords.....aggravating!

    Almost Love the Design

I almost will give this a 5. However, WHY did you take off the Apple on the Command Key? That is a staple. Can we get an Apple icon sticker to put on it? That would give it a 5 in my book.

    Definitely a fine upgrade

I've been using their various keyboard since 2003. This by far is the best one they've designed to date. Over the years I've always compared various keyboards to the Thinkpad's I used before going over to Apple completely. I feel that Apple has finally beaten the Thinkpad keyboard with this offering. The keys move with just the right amount of feedback, while remaining almost silent. Much better than previous models that had the distinctive clicking sound to them. Makes the last model feel like a dinosaur. My question to Apple is 'How will you top this one?"

    keyboard ok lar

The keyboard is nice to type on and typing speed would surely increase. One issue with it is that I am using this with my mbp and some how or rather like it's being grounded properly. I get static almost every sentence I type. End up I have to get a silicon cover for it.

One thing is for sure typing without the cover is much nicer.

Hope I am the only with this issue.

    Ergonomic?

I like my new keyboard, but I'm wondering what effect this has on ergonomics and the future health of my wrists - anyone else have any worries?

    Solid product, minor faults

Excellent keyboard, almost identical in keyboard response as the keyboard on the Macbook. This keyboard is excellent for those that prefer a scissor-type response (laptop equivalent keyboard mechanism). The two problems of this keyboard: deep USB ports, hard to access unless you lift the keyboard up; keyboard rubber padding is not enough to prevent the keyboard from sliding around but does not happen if used properly. This keyboard would be perfectly priced at 10$ less.

Ultimate keybaord for hunt and peck typists

If you're a two finger typist this is the best keyboard you've ever used, period. No long travel keys and exactly the right amount of tactile response. You can seriously fly typing on this thing - way way way faster than the previous white gen of the Apple keyboard. This keyboard rocks!

    FANTASTIC!!!

This is the best keyboard that I've ever owned! So thin, yet solid. Very comfortable to use. I swear I can type faster! And silent. Everyone who sees it wants to touch it and then want one too! Another great one Apple!

    Ergonomics

I liked the keyboard fine, but after a few weeks began having trouble with my right shoulder. I think the reason is that this keyboard is longer than my old one and I have to stretch my arm out to the side to move the mouse. If you are concerned about ergonomics, this is something to take into consideration.

    The Best!!

Hands down, by far, the best full size keyboard that I have ever used. USB ports work great with my external hard drive, mouse, etc. My only recommendation would be is to buy one as soon as possible and you will see.
