Ultimate keybaord for hunt and peck typists

If you're a two finger typist this is the best keyboard you've ever used, period. No long travel keys and exactly the right amount of tactile response. You can seriously fly typing on this thing - way way way faster than the previous white gen of the Apple keyboard. This keyboard rocks!

    FANTASTIC!!!

This is the best keyboard that I've ever owned! So thin, yet solid. Very comfortable to use. I swear I can type faster! And silent. Everyone who sees it wants to touch it and then want one too! Another great one Apple!

    Ergonomics

I liked the keyboard fine, but after a few weeks began having trouble with my right shoulder. I think the reason is that this keyboard is longer than my old one and I have to stretch my arm out to the side to move the mouse. If you are concerned about ergonomics, this is something to take into consideration.

    The Best!!

Hands down, by far, the best full size keyboard that I have ever used. USB ports work great with my external hard drive, mouse, etc. My only recommendation would be is to buy one as soon as possible and you will see.

    A delight to use

And very attractive it is, too. I'm writing this at my usual pace and the keyboard presents no problems. Very clean action and fast. Now I have to buy another for my Mac at home. So when does the matching aluminium Mighty Mouse get released?

    Briliant.

This keyboard knocks spots off the normal white keyboard - or any other keyboard out there for that matter. The key touch is soft and precise and feels similar to the Macbook. The stainless steel and white design compliments the white iMac nicely. The keyboard itself is reasonably heavy incase you're wondering if it's going to be too flimsy given its small size. Feels like quality - which it is.

    Great feel... but gets dirty!

I love the feel of this new keyboard! I am a total gamer and i would recommend this to anyone looking for a great feel while gaming. BUT I think that the white keys get dirty too fast. I have had mine for about 2 months now and i have to clean it at least once a week so I don't look homeless... but other than that i love it!

Incompatible at boot with Mac Mini

This keyboard is not supported by the current Mac Mini firmware.

The keyboard options at boot ('C' for CD-ROM, 'Alt' for OS list, ...) with a Mac Mini (1.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) do not work. Drivers render the keyboard functional during the booting process.

The design of the keyboard is fantastic; however, if you're upgrading and you've got a Mac Mini, you might want to wait for the firmware update.

question re: speaker buttons on keyboard

when I try to adjust the speaker buttons. the mute one brings up display of weather. The volume button to increase sound brings eliminates the page.. the volume to reduce the sound gives me split screen. Has anyone had this problem? I just got the keyboard yesterday.

Is it art or is it just a keyboard?

It's both. Truly a comfort to type on - the keyboard looks amazing atop the surface of my desk.... an inconsequential piece of technology taken to the next level. Bravo.

    Joy!

This keyboard is an absolute joy to use. Took me a while to get used to it following the old white/transparent version but the new one just completely looks the biz, especially on a minimal workspace.

    Top marks!

I'll be succinct. This product is absolutely gorgeous! I was hoping for something - anything - to discourage me from spending so much time in front of the Mac. This certainly isn't it.

    love it but....

Beautiful keyboard...nice feel, great look, should be easier to keep clean,& I like the the controls that work with iTunes....my only issue is with the fact that the USB ports are only 2.0 compatible with the new iMac.The extra ports were the main reason that I purchased this keyboard-needless to say,I was disappointed! There should be an asterisk on the product page to let people know that, especially in light of the fact that if you bought a new iMac the keyboard would've come with it,so,at this point anyone who buys it as an after-market addition to an older Mac is going to be bummed if they bought it for the extra ports.....

    deffinate A+

This keyboard is great! it's a very natural keyboard packed into a compact and sleek design. it's doesn't take up much desk space and it's easy to get used to, which is rare for smaller keyboards. It has everything my first mac's keyboard had (volume buttons, 2 usb ports, ect.) but it's 10x more stylish- deffinate A+!
If your looking for a replacement keyboard or just an upgrade for your mac desktop, this is the best keyboard for it!

    bad, BAD keyboard!!!

i've spent a few days with the new apple keyboard. admittedly, i miss the MEAT to the keys... but it's okay. in the spirit of progress - i can adjust...

    problems:

    - must use software update just to use the VOLUME KEYS?!??!? its just a KEYBOARD! ARRGGGH!!!... ok, BREATHE... i'm still in. just wonder why?
    - using flash. an app RIFE with FN key shortcut functions. now i have to use an additional FN key modifier key to access them - command+FN+f8... WHAT, THREE KEYS to add a symbol now? am i using a laptop here?
    - suddenly my option, command, spacebar no longer works the magnify tool in illustrator...

GRRRRR - just tossed the new keyboard and plugged in the old one and THANKFULLY, life is back to where i left it!

another apple hardware effort. another significant blunder. IBM tried this with the PC junior about 17 years ago and they quickly came back to what worked...

imac round mouse - BAD IDEA
g4 qube - horribly BAD IDEA
mighty mouse - all over the place BAD IDEA
chicklet keyboard - who didnt see this one coming?

    Good looking, bad feeling

Frank Lloyd Wright's designs were infamously uncomfortable. Human comfort and function were sacrificed for beauty, particularly in his furniture. Aesthetically perfect, it was torture to sit in his chairs. Guests at parties would go home in agonizing pain, but still unable to shake the beauty in his design.

If Wright had designed keyboards, they might be something like this.

The new apple keyboards are a drastic change from the old white and translucent plastic that I'd been using for so long. A new metal casing combined with a completely flattened out look really is a far cry from the old keyboards, Still, it does fit somehow. In spite of everything, it is somehow very inviting, perhaps because so much of the keyboard is actually keys. The excess has been cut and you're left with the bare essentials.

Aside from the aesthetic, I find it a little difficult to adjust to the new layout regarding audio control, dashboard, expose, eject, and brightness. The addition of the audio controls strikes me as slightly superfluous since you could control most audio/video programs on the Mac with your keyboard already, but since they old controls still function I see no real problem with this and if it makes life easier for some then kudos to apple.

My one major problem is ergonomics. While I love the feel of the buttons and the height of the board, I've gotten used to being able to hold my hands in a fairly natural position while typing and find it difficult to type for an extended period (i.e. this review) with this keyboard. I would think that after all these years and with all of apples designs to make things simple and easy they'd finally come up with a standard ergonomic keyboard that fits into the apple family.

So maybe some day apple's keyboards will be as friendly on your arms and hands as they are on your eyes, but until that day I recommend getting a third-party keyboard.
