    Pleasantly Surprised!

I picked up the Aluminum Keyboard with a little bit of apprehension, but I have found this to be an awesome keyboard. Past the way that i looks (which is great) it functions well, and all the keys work. I know some are reporting problems, but it has worked fine on my iMac which is an early Intel model. I loaded the software update, and that was that.

All around it's just a really nice piece of hardware, very solid, compact, and stylish. Typing is a breeze, and as some have noted I seem to be making less mistakes typing.

    Amazing Product

The size of it had me worried at first, but after less than a day I realized this was the best keyboard I have ever used. I rarely use anything other than laptops and I came from a PC just before getting this with my new iMac. The keys have just enough where they feel like a laptop keyboard, but also have the size and layout of a desktop. The lower height actually seems to make it more comfortable to use, and it looks amazing on my desk. It is so light and takes up so little room I can move it around to do work as I need. Great job this time apple.

why r there no bad reviews?????????

I am a long time apple fan but the one sided reviews are disappointing. This site use to be a lot more honest, but now it seems like it is just marketing and as long as you say good things your reviews will be left up for people to read, but if its negative its gone!
I have put a couple honest reviews and they were deleted from the discussion or reviews...interesting.
I bought the new keyboard and I am disappointed. It looks great and it was easy to download the software from the apple website, but it seems like the keyboard has contact issues with the buttons b/c my caps lock key has to be pressed a few times before it works and I notice when I type an email and review it there are a lot more typos from the keyboard b/c it is not registering all the keys I am pressing. I dont know if it is a software issue that just needs an update or not but I also have to custom set one of the unused F keys to set it to reveal the desktop since that is not one of the presets with the new software. The problem is whenever I go to preferences/keyboard and set it up with an unused F key it works fine, but as soon as I turn my computer off the next time I turn it back on the key no longer works and it is back to the default key (F11) which I cant use b/c the f11 key is used now to lower the volume. So on a daily basis I have to go into preferences and reset that key every time I turn the computer on. If they cant fix this I have to take it back and get a keyboard w/o any glitches that still need to be worked out.

    Awsome Keyboard. Money well spent!

I went through about half a dozen keyboards after purchasing my Mac Pro. I didn't care for the Apple one so tried models from Logitech, McAllay, Kensington, Matias and others. I kept going back to the Apple one despite my reservations because none of them were that much better for the money spent than the one that came with my computer. I was going to buy one of the Moshi Celesta keyboards, but just as I was gearing up to drop the $120 on one Apple released the new keyboard for $49! I thought wow $49? Really? How good could it be for $49? I decided what the heck..why not try one out and needless to say the search ended there. Not only is it an awesome keyboard (I absolutely love the look and feel) the price is an incredible bargain.

I Love This Keyboard! It is So Quiet!!

This new keyboard is great! Just one thing, if the top buttons don't work right, you have to do a download for the keyboard upgrade. Super easy though...

    What a bargain!

This is hands down the best keyboard I've ever used. The previous apple keyboard was due for an upgrade and it got more than that! You won't regret it, wonderfully built, sleek design looks great, and great keyboard layout, including the new function keys.

    Well Done !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would love to see a black and silver version of this keyboard to go with the new iMac. This one is nice for the older older white and silver iMac models. Just a thought.

    Peace :-)

This is probably the best full-size keyboard I have ever used. It is very thin, yet sturdy in construction. The feel of it is very similar to the feel of an average laptop with perhaps a bit less tactile feedback.

I find myself typing quite a bit faster with fewer errors that conventional PC keyboards.

I am using this keyboard for a Mac G5 Tower and a Vista PC through a 2 port KVM switch and it works well on both.

    Hardware nice, software broken

Looks and feels good but the software is broken. Neither the expose or dashboard keys work and it has taken an inordinately long time for Apple to acknowledge or address this.

Wait until the fix comes before buying

    No backlight?

One of the best things I like about the MacBookPro keyboards is the backlight.

I wish these also had backlights. :(

Much nicer than the old white ones though

    Another fantastic product from Apple!

Just got it today, Fantastic to use, looks great. Just a shame the post man posted it through the letterbox and let it drop 2ft! All in all I would seriously recommend this keyboard.

I bought my g5 last june of 2005 and the only thing that i don't like is the keyboard.
I cleaned it every week and too much waisting my time and look too dirty.
You know this is my idea before to make it aluminum and uniform to g5 body so thank you guys for improving and make it looks clean and professional.

Apple is the the 1 computer in the world specially in advertising field. so thanks you guys and keep up the good works

    Great keyboard

The keyboard is a delight to use; it superbly suits touch typists and has a great feel to it.

I felt the software install process was a little odd, and could use improving. Following the manual you need to first do a software update (requiring a restart) then install the keyboard software from the support website (requiring another restart). Even after that it would appear to require manual modification of keys to support F3 as the expose key.

However, I didn't buy it for the changes to the function keys so I'm not too bothered about that.

Wow. It looks nice but works better.

This new keyboard is Apple's most ergonomic yet. If you are used to a MacBook Pro keyboard this will be a welcome transition. I got one for work and it was so nice I am planing to get one for home.

Great Keyboard - Terrible New Layout

The key press feel is great and it's small and sleek. However the new button placement is terrible. They've basically eliminated the volume keys and eject from the right side of the keyboard and buried it in the center. There are no longer any convenient functions over the number pad. Also, for anyone who cares, all the function keys no longer work with bootcamp unlike the old white keyboard. If you don't care about the volume and eject key placement, then you'll love this keyboard. But I have to ask, why did they mess up a good layout?

I use my new keyboard with my powermac g5 and i love it. nice and thin, takes up even less space than the previous keyboard and it has a great touch. i still kinda miss my light click noises, but who cares with a keyboard this nice, right?? Way to go Apple!

All I can say is Wow! What a great keyboard. This is such a joy to type on. Easy on the fingers and very smooth action. It's has a different feel and I love the fact that it's not a crumb catcher like the old keyboards. Well worth it and the best keyboard I've ever used! Thanks for another great product Apple!
