Nice, but keep your old one

The keyboard looks nice, and works well. The only problem is that during startup the Alt-key is ignored, thus making it more difficult to switch between OSX and SP2

    Excellent, Great for Pro's

I just purchased this impressive keyboard. Extremely fast typing rate (I am rated at 100+ WPM normally), ergonomic, and very responsive, but not overly responsive (which would be bad). It took about 10 minutes to get used to, but I believe real professionals will appreciate this board, from typists to the average user. By far the best I've ever used. Redesigned function keys are great. Not sure why the Apple logo is not there anymore, though. Oh well. Zero cons so far!

    Great Product!!!

I have to say, I am fairly new to Apple. I just switched over from PC's, and I can safely say that I made the right decision. I love the way notebook keyboards feel, and this keyboard really hits the nail on the head. It's comfortable, stylish, and best of all, APPLE!

    A big improvement

It seems a lot easier to type on this than on the previous Apple keyboard (of which I somehow have acquired 5 over the years), and it looks cooler to boot. I used to think that more key travel = better, but now I realize that the opposite is true. It's got the nice crisp feel of some of their notebook keyboards, but a bit better even, and the keys are nicely spaced to minimize unintended keypresses.

    Getting used to it...

This keyboard takes a while to get used to, but once you do - it's a nice change. It's super small and takes up very little desktop real-estate, which is nice. 2 USB ports make it easy to connect a mouse, or whatever else you need. I will say that using one of the USB ports to copy to a USB jump drive / memory key was extremely slow. I would rate it around USB 1.1 speeds, however I am not 100% sure they advertise this keyboard as a USB 2.0 complaint device. It would be nice to be able to adjust the height of the keyboard, but ultimately, it's a minor complaint. The keyboard itself has a heavy feel to it, and I like that - it doesn't slide around when you type. I don't know if this keyboard is for everyone, I actually hated it when I tested it in the store, but I needed a new keyboard, so I figured I'd give it a shot...it has grown on me and I think I like it now...but then again, I am open to change a bit. If you don't like geting your feathers ruffled, this might not be the best keyboard for you.

    Apple design does it---again

    This new keyboard is fabulous.
I am not a good typist--terrible, in truth.
But this keyboard has improved and sped up my typing.
    A great device!

Nice Keyboard, shame about the USB2

The keyboard itself is a huge improvement on the previous white mac keyboard. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to use my iPod with the usb interface as it does not provide enough power. This is a pity especialy as the advertising specifcaly suggests plugging your iPod in here. I still love it though, it looks well cool.

    Amazing improvement

This keyboard is a wonderful compliment to my MacBook. The keys feel very snappy and responsive, and I do not run into missed key-press problems that I would encounter with the previous model. If the key is pressed on this one, it shows it. No more short stroking the keys for me! YAY.

The down: It would be nice if the USB 2.0 features would work with the MacBook as they do with the iMac. I am not saying that they don't (I haven't tried them with my iPod), but the product description seems to state it as fact.

    Another success for Apple!!!

The instant i saw these new keyboards, I knew it was a leap forward in keyboards unlike any before. I ordered one immediately. It arrived a few days later.

First day, I tripped often in using it. So different from it's predecessor,(also great keyboards). By the end of the day though my fingers were fairly flying in using it. There's a delicacy to the action that's both gentle and hyper. I love it. Wonderful keyboards. I know it can't be but somehow it makes my computer seem to run faster! No complaints whatsoever. I highly recommend these to anyone.

One suggestion: I think the cordless version needs to be available in two options. One as it is. The other with a full numeric keypad.

One more thing not obvious 'til you have one. (with the corded version) The USB ports on either side are tucked in just enough so that, when a cord's plugged in, the head of the cord end doesn't stick out at all. Very nice. Tidy. Nothing to trip over. Three cheers Apple!!! Keep up the good work!

Love the keyboard, and works on Ms Windows Vista too...

I just bought the keyboard, and I must admit, I love it so much, cool design, cool style, and the most important, it works and can type. The guy at the store told me it won't work with Windows, well, I plugged it to my PC with Vista, and now I am typing this review with it on my Vista PC. Not that I don't have Mac, I have MacBook and I bought the keyboard for the MacBook. But, one problem, the function key not "same" as MacBook keyboard, the expose, the dasboard , volume control shortcut keyy differ as they are in MacBook keyboard. Nevertheless, awesome product....

    Best Keyboard I've Ever Used!

This is the best keyboard I've ever typed on, including the incredible Kensington Slim Type keyboard. The Apple keyboard appears quite a bit wider than the Kensington because of its more traditional layout, but when measured the Apple keyboard is only 1/2 inch wider than the Kensington but a full 1-3/4 inches shallower and definitely thinner in height.

The keys are VERY quiet and have a much shorter "throw" than the Kensington, making it a whole lot easier to type faster and more accurately.

Since I rarely use function keys I like the way Apple has dedicated some of the top row keys to Dashboard, Expose, iTunes and sound controls but still given people (I think) the option to reprogram all the keys if they want.

The keyboard is SO thin, almost flimsy-looking, that on first glance it seems like it would move around during typing or even bend in half if you looked at it funny. But with its thick aluminum core it doesn't budge at all. In fact after the first look at the keyboard it's a surprise to actually pick it up and feel how weighty and substantial it really is.

Intelligent, elegant & highly useful design!

Not a bad Keyboard, could use some improvements.

Just test out the new apple keyboard and I love it. I wonder what all the big stink is about? I think it is very responsive and it feels great when I type. It's light to the touch and the usb stick works, I like the fact that the usb port is recessed, however I don't like the fact that when you have both usb ports in use, it makes the keyboard hard to maneuver.

I found that it worked great on my Imac G5 isight, but when plugged into my 17" Macbook Pro, I found that some of the quick keys didn't work, like the Dashboard and Expose quick keys. Also the keyboard could be more functional if it had iPod support. Aside from these small quirks I would rate this keyboard and 4/5. Good job apple, but not an awesome one.

    I love it

I must admit. I really did not like the previous keyboard. To me it looked cheap, was hard to clean, plus I didn't like response feel of the keys. The new design is outstanding. Apple removed all my complaints. The keys response is very good. The low angle is feel natural. If anything I would add it would be to return the Apple key. Anyway, it well worth the cost.

    New Apple Keyboard

I hated the old white keyboard that came with my PowerMac G5. The keys seemed to stick and weren't spaced correctly. I commonly misspelled my own passwords. On the other hand I loved the keyboards built into my PowerBook G4 and MacBookPro. They had a nice touch. The new keyboard (I purchased the USB version) has that same touch and feel as my laptops. Thanks Apple.

    Excellent Touch

I was using the previous Apple keyboard with my Mac Book Pro setup and was rather skeptical of the new super thin keyboard, thinking how could it good to use with such a thinl design. I tried it out at the nearby Apple store and immediately bought it. They have done a great job designing this. My desk is too high and not egonomically right, so the lower profile is a big boom for me. I find the touch on the keyboard just right.

Awesome keyboard for Mac or PC

I bought this keyboard for use with my main computer, which happens to be a PC and it is fantastic. I was using the $150 Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000 prior to this, and while the wireless was nice, this keyboard is better in every way. I really forgot how nice it is to have a number pad since I had only used wireless keyboards without one. The cord is also very short, which is nice for those of us with USB ports on our computer monitor so there isn't a long cable dangling around (Apple includes an extender cable if you need your cable to be longer). And keep in mind this is only a $49 keyboard, I had used $150-200 keyboards prior to it - this one is the best!

My one wish is that Apple takes a small amount of time to write a keyboard driver for XP/Vista so that the media controls would work on PCs also - I can't imagine this would be too difficult or take much time. Otherwise , a perfect and affordable keyboard whether you use a Mac or PC.

    Best Keyboard

If you don't like notebook keyboards, stay away. This keyboard has little resistance on the keys. It is the exact opposite of the last Apple Keyboard.

Another negative of this keyboard is the placement of the USB ports. having them right on the side increases the overall space that is concerned, especially with my small college desk. I wish they would of been able to put them on the back again.

Other than that I love this keyboard! The media keys are extremely useful. The dashboard and expose keys aren't really that useful, my mighty mouse takes care of that. I would say this product would be a nice addition to any Apple Computer set up.

    Nice smooth design

I was initially afraid of the "PC Junior" Chicklet-keyboard look of this keyboard, but a few test typings pretty much cured that.... Nice keyboard (other than the current F3 F4 quirk) and I'll buy another for use with the Macbook pro... I'm sure the cure is only a software update away! Thanks, Steve et. al, for this wonderful visual/kinesthetic leap forward ! Cheers...
