    Pain in the rear!

I really love this mouse...but the scroll ball often malfunctions. It is such a pain. Although when it does work I have no problems then all to soon it will stop working again, as usual. Hopefully Apple will address this as I am afraid to buy another as it will only last a couple months if that.

    Track ball on Apple mouse

Like one post said, this track ball lasts 3 months. Not good. It's too bad, it's a feature that you really get used to.

    A good mouse

I've been using the mouse for three years. Only once has it failed me. Actually, all it needed was a clean with a Q tip and some rubbing alcohol. Not rocket science.

    Exactly What it says

This is a great product and does exactly what it says it does, it has a lift and right click you just need to go into settings to change it from a single click to a double click, so people think it is only a single click, also it is very durable, unless you have a defected product or you just don't take care of it

    This mouse is useless.

I have now had two and the track ball on both of them lasted 3 months max. And they are not cheap. DON'T buy this product! It stinks. I'm a total mac person and preach about about how macs rule but this product is s a huge disappointment.

Fantastic mouse, but comes with it's downsides

From the day that I got this mouse I have been extremely happy with it. The side buttons are amazingly useful and the scroll ball is heaven to use... Well, that is until it gets clogged with gunk and refuses to work.
This happened to me after about 6 months of heavy use. This problem is fixable but you have to disassemble the mouse which breaks it :( Right now mine is being held together with blu tac, but it does the trick.
I would upgrade to the Magic Mouse in a heartbeat if it had the side buttons like the Mighty Mouse does, or the equivalent.
Overall, it's a fantastic mouse and if you keep your hands clean when using it, you should be fine.

    They Just Don't Last

I absolutely LOVE having a mouse with a scroller ball. The feature is great, BUT, expect it to break in just a few short months. If you're someone like me, who makes a living at their computer, and uses their mouse all day long, expect to be buying a new mouse every 3-4 months. Yes, the scroller ball fails that quickly. Apple makes such wonderful, reliable products. How did they go so wrong on this one?

    Bad mouse

The track ball on this mouse will fail . Don't buy one.
I am a dedicated Apple consumer since 1980 and always will be.

    Faulty design

Apple needs to build a better mouse. This is the 3rd mouse in 2 years. The scroll button always malfunctions in exactly the same way - won't scroll down - and doesn't return to proper functionality even after following Apple's cleaning directions. I brought the last one into the Apple Store and they couldn't get it to work.

Very disappointing and frustrating. I love Apple products and I'll probably be a Mac person for life, but this mouse is flawed.

    problematic, good when working

When it works it is a great mouse. The scroller ball is prone to failure, although if you turn it upside down and wipe it with a tissue with alcohol on it (hold the ball in place with one of your figernails at different positions so you can actually WIPE it and not just move it around) this seems to clear up that issue. The other problem I have encountered is that the plastic coating around the wires breaks where it connects with the mouse because the coating is not flexible enough to allow more than say 30 degrees away from straight for the first 2 inches or so (!!), putting great strain on this part so that it breaks and exposes the wires.

    An Embarrassment to Apple

The build quality is very poor-- I had the wires fray and pull out of mine in under a year of normal use. The design is abysmal. The two-button top shell functionality is extremely clumsy and imprecise, which is no surprise as the top buttons are not readily distinguished. There's no way to clean the scroll wheel, which means it will inevitably fail in a matter of months due to normal buildup of dirt. Disassembly for cleaning involves prying glued bit off and unscrewing screws, definitely not something users are intended to accomplish. While Apple could be easily forgiven for packaging an inexpensive mouse with their products, selling it for $50 is just shameful. Their are much better mice available for a fifth of that price.

    Garbage

This mouse is garbage. It gets dirty and there is no way to clean it so you have to get a new one.

    Scroller not working

As I've read the reviews of this mouse, my experience seems to lean toward the unfavorable. The scroll ball doesn't scroll up the pages, only down. There is no grip on the scroll ball traction.

I am disappointed with this "Mighty Mouse" and now have to fork over another $50 for a mouse that should last more than one year. The other Mac hardware (e.g. keyboard, monitor, etc.) are solidly built but this mouse is too flimsy.

    just clean it, people.

Yeah, the scroll ball gets gummed up. I've been cleaning it with alcohol on a cotton swab, plenty of scrubbing (use the swab to wet the ball and roll it all around), then make sure it's dried out by rolling all around (ball-side down) on a clean cotton cloth. It comes back to life every time, and we've had our iMac almost 2 years now. (First time, I took the whole mouse apart but found it doesn't get you much closer to the scrolling mechanism, so it's glued back together and now I just work from the outside.)

I'm keeping this mouse because it's NOT wireless (no hassle with batteries, etc.) plus the tracking is good, and it's already PAID FOR. (I can buy a LOT of alcohol & swabs for the price of a replacement mouse.) Four stars only for the trouble of cleaning every few months- otherwise it's great.

Try cleaning it - it works.

Only a little on the 'wormy' side ...

This product is not "flawless" as claimed by some. It's a mechanical item, just like any other and subject to having some quirks -- or just flat out breaking.
It's the scroll button that seems to go first. I'm on replacement #2.
The product does work, but eventually the odds are that you will have to replace it.

    Seriously flawed and overpriced

This is beyond any doubt the worst Apple product I own. The issue is the scrollball which stops working after a couple of months. The mouse cannot be disassembled and all advice Apple proffers on cleaning works a few times, then the thing just breaks and becomes an expensive paperweight.

The mouse is plain and simple a seriously flawed product that should have been pulled by Apple a long time ago as they are certainly aware of the issues. Keeping this on the shelves is simply a disgrace bordering on consumer fraud as far as I'm concerned.

    Apple should be ashamed.

This is the third mighty mouse to fail me in a little over a year. Despite cleaning the scroll ball they all eventually fail. I'm truly surprised that someone has not initiated a class action law suit against Apple for this miserable product. If it was an el' cheapo mouse that would be one thing, but these are expensive. If this was car part it would be recalled, if it was an aircraft part the FAA would ground it, if it was a medical device the FDA would ban it.
