Flawless, dont listen to poor reviews

I had to write this review in response to some of the poor reviews I have seen. I have owned this mouse since the first year of production. I have never had a problem with stray clicks, the mouse always works properly. As long as you understand how the mouse works, there is a tutorial, it is simple and easy. I like it far better than a single button mouse or even a multi button mouse. As far as the trackball getting dirty, which only shows up as an issue every several months, just push down on the trackball and roll it. It cleans the sensor and works fine, this process only takes several seconds.

Not as bad as most say

I've owned my "Mighty Mouse" (now just called the "Apple Mouse" for legal reasons) for about a year now. It worked flawlessly for the first 9 months, and I was quite surprised that there were no issues with it considering how many reported problems I had heard of online. After 9 months, it began having scroll ball issues at random times. The trick is to put rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip once a week to prevent the scroll ball from not working in one direction. It seemed annoying to do at first, but now it's a simple habit. The other thing, too, is to make sure that your hands are (mostly) clean before using this mouse since things tend to get stuck in it. Other than that, I love my "Apple Mouse" and its multiple customizable buttons!

    Not up to Par

With products so good, how can the Apple mouse be so poorly designed. I own an iMac, a Mac Book, and a Mac Book Pro and although these are tremendous products, the mouse interface is awful. The scroll button sticks, then eventually stop working. Is is the worst mouse that I have ever used. I have purchased a competitor's product that I am much happier with. Mr. Jobs, please put a few of your best people on solving the mouse interface issue. Really, it shouldn't take more than a few weeks to come up with something better.

Very good mouse, Wireless version better, Magic Mouse best.

This mouse is very good, I had it for about 4 months, then it was replaced with it's wireless version. A couple of weeks ago I got the new Magic Mouse and it is definitely the best option, although it is quite expensive ($69)

    mouse cleaning

I TRIED THIS,I was getting very flustrated IT SAVED ME £35 I WAS ABOUT READY TO BUY A NEW MOUSE, IT REALY WORKS. I'm very Grateful

READ THIS if scrollwheel not working
Written by NT from Charlbury 07-Jan-2008
OK, granted, there is a flaw in the design of this mouse, but I bet 90% of mice problems can be solved like this:

    1. unplug the mouse from the keyboard
    2. turn it upside down
    3. roll the scrollwheel in all directions on a blank (clean) piece of paper, in all directions, for 60 seconds
    4. re-attach

bingo! works every time. this is a good mouse in both OS X and Windows, I have used it for gaming and is excellent for browsing large webpages or large documents, with its 360 degree scrollwheel. although at times i want to get away from the mouse/keyboard combo (it is 2008 now, after all), at least this Mighty Mouse lessens the pain somewhat.

Best mouse I have ever used!

This is the BEST mouse I have ever used. It has many features such as scrolling up, down, sideways, expose, dashboard and MANY more! I've seen some comments that say negative things about the mouse many about the scroll wheel. There is a fix to the scroll wheel not working. Just get a piece of white paper and roll the wheel in circles on it. This takes out dirt from the wheel and it works perfectly for me! I went to best buy and looked at magic mouse and HATED it! It feels like your moving around a box with your hand! The Apple Mouse is the way to go!

    Worst product Apple ever made

One of the worst design Apple ever made, as usual I blindly believed this Apple product and bought one. It works as long as the scrolling ball is clean, once it accumulates some dust inside may be within 6 months to one year, the ball miss behaves and won't work properly. Most dumb part of the design is you can't even clean, the mouse is sealed you have to break open if you like to clean on your own.

Over all do not waste money, Never buy this product.

Apple Mouse, good but not great

I am new to mac (as of December 25 2009) and I love it, but the only con of the mac is their tracking pad on their macbooks and macbook pros and any of their mouses. The once known "Mighty Mouse" now known as the Apple Mouse is twice as good as the Magic Mouse, which to me is a piece of junk. Overall the scroll ball is no good and the side buttons are quite annoying if you are new to mac like me so I give this a 4 out of 5 rating.

    Great Thus Far

I got the Mighty Mouse two days ago at my local apple store and have been very impressed with it so far. I recommend if you buy this product that you also buy iklear. iklear will come with an entire cleaning set for your Mac but also has the anti static cloth in it that helps you clean your mouses scroll ball. I liked it better than the magic mouse because my hand was always getting stuck on the Magic Mouse, making it impossible to use. I would recommend to get the Mighty Mouse and upgrade to the Magic Mouse when some improvements are made. My favorite part about the Mighty Mouse is the fact that there are four different buttons that can do four different actions. Even the scroll ball is a button! This is yet another one of the great Apple products i have purchased since buying my macbook!!

    Love the mouse-hate the scrollball

I love this mouse for one reason, it's ergonomically perfect for my hand and I don't have carpal tunnel symptoms anymore after using this mouse for 7 months. But that's the only reason I gave it two stars. I have been having trouble with the scrollball since within about a month of owning it and it's a real pain when you can't get the ball to work. I do work on my computer that requires a scrollball to save time and my hand and this mouse just isn't cutting it! I wish they'd have a recall on these and replace it with one that works well for the life of the mouse.

Great Mouse with problems that can be fixed

This is a really great mouse. Kinda still getting used to, but a nice mouse. Until, that is, the trackball stops working. It's a pain. But to every problem, there's a solution. Your trackball might be dirty, and thats one of the reasons it might stop working. So, get a
cutip and wet it with water or rubbing alcohol. Make sure the cutip isn't to wet or too dry. Rub the trackball in circles with the cutip. Then rub the trackball downward on a piece of paper. Worked for me.

    Nothing but a pain!

The scroll ball doesn't always work. It will stop working for days at a time, and then just start working again. I get so frustrated I have to stop using the computer.

    Total Disaster

Last week I was recommended by a Mac Salesman this mouse, as it would go well with my new MacBook Pro.

So I pulled it out of its box and I saw happy for 5 minutes until I discovered that that the scroll wheel was a pain to use and it had terrible ergonomics.

A week later the whole scroll function stopped working. I usually wash my hands before I use the mouse, but the scroll feature was faulty. Even if it was dirty I couldnt clean it.

Pretty good mouse, bad scroll ball

I thought the mouse was a pretty good product except for the scroll ball. It kept getting grime on it and would stop scrolling. Then I would have to clean it. I would get a different mouse if I were you.

    Scroll ball bummer

The scroll ball stops working every once in a while, so it will not scroll up or down. The best fix is to unplug it, turn it upside down on a sheet of copy paper, and rub the scroll ball with firm pressure on the paper. It will leave streaks of grime that come off the ball, but will restore the scroll function. Think of it as "routine maintenance".
