    good product

It's not the mouse of my dreams, but it's quite good, specially because I have a mackbook (wich is white too) and I travel a lot. So, if you don´t mind to have a cable, this mouse is perfect, because it´s easy to work and very eficient.

Apple Needs to retink this Mouse.

After many years on a PC, I bought an iMac 2 years ago.

All of my previous mice worked as advertised for a long period of time. (years)

This one started having problems with the trackball after about a year.

I tried to keep it as clean as possible, but after about a Year and a half it just quit and wont work at all!

it IS small enough for children's hands ( I have none) and maneuvers easily, but the wired aspect make it need more room on my desk than I have sometimes.

Apple needs to put a scroll wheel in this instead.

    Buy an iPod instead

Just like all the other complaints, the ball sticks! I have tried the online fixes and they work for a while but then it is back to the same issue over and over. I am on my 3rd one hoping the problem would go away. Shame on Apple for making an inferior mouse and shame on me for falling for it over and over. Of all the fine Apple products you buy this should not be one of them.

    Terrible

I don't understand how Apple could have messed up so badly. My Blackberry, which is over two years old and uses a scroll ball as well, has never given me this sticking problem.

If you can manage to have desert-dry hands and keep the mouse in a humidity-controlled room it will be fine.

    Ball Malfunction-Easy Fix

Yes. We've had this mouse for a few months only and all of a sudden the trackball wouldn't scroll down. Up and sideways were just fine. Came across one review which recommended the rolling ball VIGOROUSLY for bit. It worked!

Mouse now works just like new. Probably accumulated some debris but was easy enough to dislodge.

    Hate this!

I used this mouse in journalism and photoshop classes and I cannot deal with it! The ball never works and it is not ergonomically correct at all. I would not recommend this at any price.

My Mighty Mouse is back, like men in skinny pants!

This mouse is dope, except for the scrolling issues.

    @ CS from Brantford:
Thanks. I completely forgot about turning the mouse upside down.

Rub the ball vigorously and it will work

We are a Mac office and about once a month someone's mouse quits functioning. I am not sure how we learned this technique but it works. Simply, roll the ball as hard and vigorously as possible and it will start working again. I am actually interested to try the alcohol trick to see if it is just as affective.

I gave a five star rating basically because its an awesome mouse. The rolling ball most be sensitive and when dust or dirt builds up on the ball it quits working. The alcohol trick seems less aggressive, however, unless you work in a doctor's office you might not have alcohol readily available.

    Apple Mouse

Great Mouse. Need extra patient dealing with the right click, because i'm having problem when
tried to right click for the 2nd, 3rd and ..th time on the desktop except the DOCK, but on other place beside desktop it's great no problem at all. No scroll issue just need little adjustment if you're usually use non-apple mouse. Overall it's a cool product, nice & unique shape

Clean hands but mouse still dirty

Many of the positive reviews blame the dirty mouse on the user eating junk food, having a dirty house or being picky. I have gone through at least 4 mice and found the same thing to happen every time no matter how often I clean it or my hands.
With that said, an odd thing happened once after doing some system diagnostics, the mouse worked for a day-and-a-half; right out of the blue, no cleaning - it just started working while I had an Apple Tech. on the phone. After we corrected the software problem I was having I told her about the mouse, when she asked for the symptoms, I used the mouse so I'd be able to report the problem exactly but there was nothing wrong with it.

Best mouse on the market... but with quality issues

The apple mouse is intuitive, simple and has many different functions without having buttons crammed onto every available space. The scrollweel is somehing I can't live without nowadays, especially when doing more advanced editing. Brilliantly simple in design and looks really good as well.
The only downside, as many have pointed out before me, is that the scrollweel has a strong tendency to stop working. Most people I know who owns a mac has had the same problem with this mouse. Some have been able to fix it and some havn't. The glitch seems pretty ramdom and I don't really know what causes this error.
I've had my mouse for 3 years now and the scrollweel has quit on me several times, though I managed to fix it without any major problems. Now however it seems to have given up for good. Anyway, 3 years is a pretty OK lifespan for a mouse so for me this hasn't been a big issue.

    cheesy mouse

It just never worked. Well maybe for a week. If they trusted the consumer to open it up and clean it... Maybe, but I did everything they said to and it just doesn't work. Don't buy it unless you like having to move the mouse around on your own. The ball is worthless.

    Great Mouse, Easy to Clean.

If your scroll ball stops working, you can easily fix it by making a Que-Tip slightly damp, rolling the Que-Tip around on the ball, then flipping the mouse upside down on a blank piece of paper and pressing on the scroll ball as you move the mouse around.

Search on YouTube for :"how to clean apple mouse" and there will be loads of videos on how to clean it easily WITHOUT taking it apart.

    Clean it before replacing

I was surprised the ratings were low. I read the reviews because I was getting ready to replace it. I cleaned the scroll ball with alcohol and it works fine. No need to replace it.

Once again about the scrolling ball!

I want to share my experience with this product. I was exited to get the mouse: it lay perfectly in my hand, buttons are comfortable and it would be absolutely perfect if the scrolling ball didn't stop to scroll up at first - then stopped scrolling at all!
What a disappointment! Shame on you Apple!

    Scroll ball

Just like everyone else says - I've only had this mouse for less than a year. After 6 months the scroll ball stopped working - can scroll up & left/right, but cannot scroll down. I try cleaning it as everyone suggests in all sorts of ways but it only fixes it slightly & temporarily. The outer attachments are all glued together so you can't open it up & clean thoroughly inside by yourself.

Everything else is fine but for this reason alone, I CANNOT recommend anyone to buy it. You'd definitely waste your money, unless you were committed to replace it with a new mouse after 6 months.

    Do Not Buy This Mouse

My first Apple (Mighty) Mouse died after the scroll-ball stopped working. I've had my second Apple (Mighty) Mouse for about six months and I can't scroll up. I've tried cleaning it, but it still won't work. Do not buy this mouse.

Ok, but keeps not scrolling down

My mouse at work stopped scrolling down after about 3 weeks of use. I switched it with a mouse from our older mac and that one just stopped scrolling down. The first one now appears to be working, but I never cleaned it. So I'm not sure if cleaning will help, but this has never happened with my logitech optical mouse.

Also, scroll is way to quick, even when I modify my device settings on the mac it still scrolls way to quick for the proofing work I need to do.
