    Scroll ball a total failure

I like the ergonomics of this mouse, but the scroll ball is always failing. It will scroll down almost all of the time, but odds of it being able to scroll up are at best fifty fifty. I don't know if dirt gets in or what the problem is, but they seem to be good for a couple of months at best. Very aggravating.

scroll button is fine after 2 years

I bought my mouse in 2007, and it's still working perfect.... I just don't understand why so many people are complaining about the scroll button.

I always carry the mouse around with my macbook, so I'm not keeping the mouse in antiseptic condition.... I also use it while eating something. My hand is not necessarily clean when using the mouse.

I do feel the cable is too short, and that's why I'm not give 5 stars. However, the scroll button is fine with mine.

This mouse came with my IMac. Honestly it is so agravating that the mouse ball is always sticking, only scroling down or up ONLY. I like the feel of the mouse, the way it works over all is good but the ball sticks!

Do not buy if you have a notebook!

It is beyond me as to why Apple would create a wired mouse that is unusable to macbook users (unless, of course, you are left-handed.) The cord is so short, and seeing as the usb drive is on the left side, buyers are forced to keep the mouse to the left of their macbooks. This means that we must then spend another $20 upgrading to the wireless version.

    iMac Excellent But For...

The mouse. This thing is a pain in the you-know-what. I'm a new PC-to-iMac convert and love everything about this computer except the mighty mouse.

The two-in-one button feature was a nice try at "innovation", but in everyday use it comes up short. Multiple botched multi-select-and-drag attempts, sore forearm from trying to differentiate from left and right clicks, etc.

I'm very new to Mac, so not sure if Apple offers a two button mouse. If they don't, they should. Mighty mouse is horrible.

The Mighty Mouse Ain't So Mighty

I was hoping that Apple's brilliant industrial design would produce a mouse that was insanely great, but what I ended up with was a mouse that was insanely irritating. Between the hard to click "buttons" and the random jerking of the pointer, the Mighty Mouse is just a chore to use. The only thing that I really liked was the micro-sized scroll wheel, but it's so tiny that it just doesn't feel right. As much as I hate to say this, I'm going back to my $10 cheapo LED mouse. It might be ugly, but it works.

    Useless. Unworthy of my MAC.

Apple products have been exceptional for me, and I've had no trouble for 9 years now with MAC products. I'm actually surprised to be writing a bad review on this website.

This is the first Apple product I've had trouble with - but it simply isn't worth the effort. Don't get it. It doesn't work well. If you are considering getting this wireless mouse, make sure that you also get a regular mouse - you'll be using it about half the time.

Your better off going to a pet shop

If it wasn't for the cord, I would I thrown this device out of my city flat window and down to the busy traffic below, many times by now! Yeah Apple make great computers, great software, I had a Powerbook that lasted for years, but this mouse is useless. It works wonderfully for the first three weeks, then the scroll wheel picks up some dirt and it's useless. I have figured out how to crack the case and clean the insides, but this is a mission and a total waste of my time. And now it seems to jump onto the dashboard whenever it feels like it! Buy this and you'll be coming back to get it replaced in about 6 months (if that).

mighty mouse with non mighty scroll wheel

It's definitely good mouse, horizontal scrolling is a really comfortable option, especially for working in Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign, but there is one little problem - I have bought 2 mighty mouses for 1 year (It's expensive enough) and now I need the third one - scroll wheel does not work for a long time. In both cases it stopped scrolling down but still continues to scroll up and horizontally. Hope we'll have some new mouse with a better scroll wheel.

Great mouse if it were not for the scroll ball clogging up!

The Mighty Mouse would be the greatest mouse in the world if it were not for the scroll ball clogging up after a months use and refusing to scroll down. It is impossible to clean if it has more then a very little bit of dirt in it. This is a very big design flaw and one that will put a lot of people off buying.

    Dodgy scroll

Add me to the list of 1000's of other mouse users who suddenly find the scroll button not working, conveniently for Apple it's just out of warranty.

    Awesome Mouse Apple!

Well my solution to those who have problems with this mouse, I wash my hands before using my Mac. I have had this mouse for almost 3 years now. I have the original Mighty Mouse (the one with the Grey force sensors on the sides not the white ones) and its scroll ball works just as it did when I bought it. My advice: stop eatin the Cheetos and chips while on the Mac. First of all, thats what makes you fat and its not healthy. Second, wash your freakin hands people! Thats why all your MM's are gettin screwed. Cause you people bring food around the Mac and its peripherals, and it then gets all over them, and Apple didn't design their product(s) to be used in a kitchen. So don't get food on it and wash your hands. My scroll ball isn't even dirty just because I wash my hands every single time I got to use the Mac. And don't get me wrong people, I am on my Mac all day, everyday, and my MM is going on 3 years now. It still looks brand new. So its you not Apple. Stop blamin others for your actions. Grow up and take some responsibility. Long story short, if you washyour hands before using this product, you will be problem free.

    Awesome when it worked

This mouse was great when it worked. I loved being able to scroll sideways, but after getting 2 warranty replacements after the ball stopped working I gave up on it. Honestly, don't buy this mouse, it'll just end up not working in a month or two.

Good mouse, but trackball needs improving

I love the look and feel of this mouse, it doesn't irritate my hand like the one at my work. Only issue I have is occasionally trackball spins free with no click sounds and does nothing unless I press down hard to get it to work again. The idea for this mouse is brilliant and I love it but the quality of the build needs improving and also the cursor speed is a little slow.

The only I like to use

I am an IT RN and spend my day in front of a computer. I use a generic Windows mouse at work. I dislike it because of its limitations. At home, I have been using the wireless mouse for more than 2 years. It is far superior for internet, Adobe and Microsoft programs due to the scrolling wheel. I have cleaned it twice. I like being able to use a single battery. It helps keeps the weight down.

    Scroll Ball Problems? Not anymore

First off, this IS a great mouse. It seems the biggest complaint is the rollerball used to scroll. I understand that this is a very important feature, and it is used more than any button on the mouse, so I wanted to share the fix with you. There are two, maybe three, ways to fix this problem.

First...wash your hands, people. If you have nasty hands and fingers, it will get dirty faster.

Second...if the scroll ball gets stuck (ie. can't scroll at all...or only scrolls in one direction) here is the secret. Turn the mouse upside-down and roll, with some pressure, the ball on a piece of paper. This will get all the junk and dirt out of the mouse. Sure, you will do this a few times a year, but since this is the main complaint that pushes people to give the mouse a one-star, this should bump up your enjoyment of this mouse to 4 or 5. I love this mouse and I will never get a different kind.

Oh, yeah, the third thing... It's a physical tool...its going to get dirty. Take care of your stuff, and it will last longer.

    Left or Right?

Unless my fingers are falling off of the sides with each click of this mouse it can't tell a left click from a right. Annoying when you mean to left click and the context menu pops up, then you try to left click somewhere to get rid of it, and it pops up again where you tried to click to get rid of it. Never had a more frustrating mouse..even the old ball mice weren't as annoying. I have the issue at work at at every workstation I go to at school. The 360 ball is cool, but this one isn't for me.
