    Nice look, design needs work

This mouse looks great, and it is versatile, which is great since my wife is a south-paw. The track ball needs work though, and the design department at Apple should really... get on the ball! Make the ball bigger and make it removable for cleaning. This is not rocket science. Apple is known for being user-friendly, this should apply especially to something called a mighty mouse.

    Mighty Mouse Scroll Ball

I used alcohol as described in the wireless mouse reviews and it did work for this one. However, with all of the other mouses I have owned for my various PCs, I really have never had this problem. I did have get the dust out of the track ball but that is it. The only reason I gave the mouse 3 stars is because you can scroll all ways which comes in very handing. If it wasn't for this feature, I probably would have given the mouse only 2 stars. Hopefully, Apple is reading these reviews and improving the mouse.

    Might mouse STINKS!

This is my second mighty mouse, and like all negative posts, the track ball stopped working after several months, both of them! I will not be buying another until Apple takes care of this issue. It is, obviously, as serious engineering FLAW! THE MIGHTY MOUSE STINKS!

What is every one talking about?

This mouse is amazing, I have mine for almost two years and have only had the scroll wheel gt stuck once, but that was easily fixed by turning it upside down. All the pressure sensors are pretty tight also.

    Don't bother

Just like everyone else here, the scroll ball stopped working properly. At least ours lasted awhile (just until the warranty expired) and then stopped scrolling down. And as much as you think, "...aw, no big deal, I can live with it." It really is a pain. I thought it was a fluke and was going to get another one but I'm glad I looked here first and saw these reviews!! I'm not wasting my money and will get a different one and I hope anyone else will do the same.

    Great!

The shell design seems to work really well. The roller ball is excellent and so far I have not had any problems with it clogging up with dust. The side buttons are not great to press. I have mapped the middle button to the application switcher and the overall experience has been great.

    Not useful, plain and simple

Apple mighty mouse is a money trap. I only used it because it came with my iMac and I had convinced myself that certain difficulties I was having with it was due to fact that I was simply not used to using it. After approximately 8 months, I had to use an ordinary mouse for some reason and it felt like heaven.

Not useful with a lot of games, non-ergonomic design, difficult or impossible to clean the ball, touch sensitivity and response time is simply terrible. The seemingly valuable features (such as 4-direction wheel, side buttons of expose etc) or not irreplaceable as one would think.

In short, go for a Logitech or Razer. For this very same price, you will not believe what you will be getting

    No as bad

This mouse isn't that bad as others said this is the mouse with a lot of feature
    +sleek white finish
    +Features
    + comfort
    +Easy to use
    +software
+fits in with keyboard and mac
    +Standard performance
And the Negative side is that
---Require maintenance ( a small drop of water or oil remover product on cloth to wipe scroll if not shake and tilt gently while cleaning)
    -the cables a bit short

    so it three stars

It's as good for the Windows as it is the Mac

I want to eventually move to the Mac; but for the time being I'm stuck on Windows. Mighty Mouse works brilliantly on Windows as it does on the Mac. Best mouse I've used in a very long time.

    The scroll ball is horrible!

I've used Macs since the Plus, but the Mighty Mouse is the first Apple product that I truly HATE. Within a month of purchase the scroll ball was only scrolling in one direction. Compressed air, while hard to control, cleaned it. But it is constantly going back to the dirty erratic performance. Now that is no longer a reliable fix. Friends have tried turning it upside down on a cloth with rubbing alcohol, with water, dry - doesn't help! This product is so poorly engineered. Lot's of "fabulous" features that few people use, but the scroll ball is inherently bad. Apple: YOU NEED TO FIX THIS PRODUCT!

I've had a few, Not "Apple" Quality

Actually, its a great mouse, especially (of course) with Mac OSX - the problem is build quality. Any mouse I've purchased form logitech at half the price has been bullet-proof and lasted for years. With this mouse, I've been through a few.
First, my wireless mighty mouse completely died after about 7 months. So, because of the cost, I went to the wired mouse, and that one died after about 8 months (first the scroll ball and then two days later the tracking started fritzing).
Tried carefully cleaning etc but no love.
For now I'm using a $5 dell mouse and going to shop around for a very OSX friendly alternative to apple.

Didn't work after 10 seconds of use

the mighty mouse is terrible. I love the design... but the scroll ball doesn't work. I bought a new iMac and when I plugged in the mighty mouse the ball only scrolled down not up. After a few minutes of trying to fix it I went back to return it and get a new one. 10 seconds later, ball stops working.

    Horrible!

Sorry folks - but cleaning it doesn't work. Alcohol, WD-40, lint-free cloth, rolling upside down on bond paper... I've tried all the suggestions but the scroll ball is irreversibly non-functional. Another $49 for more of the same frustration isn't worth it to me. Save your money and vote with your dollars for a NON-Mighty (although functional) Mouse from any company OTHER THAN Apple. I can't believe Apple hasn't re-designed and re-issued this product - it's shameful.

    The Best Mouse in Business

I cannot give this any less than 5 stars as ergonomically, features wise and for appearance it wins hands down compared to the competition.

In fact to be fair there isn't really any competition for the Mighty Mouse so get one now!

Only problem that seems to occur for some people is the track ball may start to not function in one or more directions. Bit of advice for this: don't eat your dinner and use a mouse at the same time, this will not aid it's life expectancy. If you do get this problem - firstly, get yourself some iKlear, spray a generous amount on the cloth and run the trackball on it. If this does not clear the dirt, get yourself to an Apple Store and ask them to clear the dirt with some compressed air from behind the Genius Bar. Problem Solved.

    Excelent Design

I have read the reviews from others over the Mighty Mouse and need to put my 2 cents in . I own 3 of these mice and WOW the reactions I get from people using them are very funny. Most people do not know how to get the second button to work (most of my Mighty Mice are on PC's (GASP) and they do not realize that lifting a finger fixes the issues with the mouse and it works flawlessly. Once they get that they stop complaining. Im not going to change mice just to appease someone who wants to use my computer. As for the track ball Clean it. I seen on apples site to use rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth , Invert the mouse and roll it around and it cleans the mouse nicely. I have had the scroll problems listed through out these reviews and that method clears it up very well . And above all CLEAN HANDS people. I love the 360 scroll just wish it worked on a pc. 5 Star product as always Apple. Some people just have no patience to learn new things :)

Useless - a waste of money & time!

Why attempt to 're-design the wheel'?! After approx 3 days, the ball will no longer scroll up-down. Initially, disconnecting, then turning the mouse upside-down & rolling the ball on a piece of material etc is effective. Initially... Eventually, even this tedious process becomes ineffective & the mouse will not scroll up-down. Back to the drawing-board Apple, pronto!

this thing is not worth it...

ive had this one and the wireless one in hopes that one of them would be worth the 50 or 60 bucks i spent on them, and they dont last at all, i use my macbook every day and to have a mouse is very handy cause no one wants to use the trackpad all the time, but this is not the mouse to have or to get to replace the track pad its way more annoying then the trackpad in every way its slow and stops working after a few hours of cleaning it sometimes it just doesnt live up to what were all used to, apple let me down on this product :(

Extremely poor quality - very unlike Apple

Save your money and buy a real mouse from Logitech. The scroll ball in this mouse is so fragile and sensitive. I've had it for less than two months and the thing has stopped working. I can't scroll up anymore - an extreme annoyance. Now I've got to hike up to the Apple store to see if they can fix it or return it. Apple needs to do better quality testing.
