A Clear blot on apple's Image

Very good in design but very very very poor in handling and durability.

Just after 3 months... scroll ball has stoped working. There is no way to clean or repair it.

    It worked!!

I was having trouble with my might mouse and went to the website to see what options I might have. I got really depressed when I saw so many posts complaining about the scrolling problem. I read all the suggestions about trying to clean with air, compressed air, edge of paper etc... then saw the post about rubbing with alcohol... I tried witch hazel ( contains alcohol) and lo and behold after several tries the scrolling returned!! So now I still like the mouse! I used to clean other track balls regularly with alcohol.. granted it was easier since it was removable.. but the same cleaning principle applies.

One of the best mice ever!

This mouse is pretty nifty in that there are no gaps for dirt to get trapped in.

With my other mice (before I switched to the Mac), I always had to clean it.

To clean the outer surface of this mouse, unplug it, then wipe with a dry cotton cloth damped with alcohol.

When the ball stops scrolling, cleaning it is very easy:

    1. Unplug it
    2. Wet a cotton swab with water
    3. With the mighty mouse upside-down, wipe the ball with the cotton swab
    4. Turn the ball and repeat until you have removed all dirt and hair
    5. With the might mouse still upside-down, dry it by rubbing it on a paper towel
    6. Plug it back in - all fixed

This is without a doubt a great mouse!

    BallsUp

i have had my mine for almost a year now and my 2nd as i had wireless 1st and it became annoying due to battery power alerts too short and then nothing... regardless of what battery types. i now have this one and the ball will go left , right and up, but it doesn't scroll down ... AT ALL., maybe in the 1st month if i recall..... tried the cleaning....etc etc.
APPLE needs a new design, streamline does NOT always equal functionality, however i do like the white creamy finnish, i'm sure a strong sturdy design as long as the colour is white would still work.

    Mighty Mouse, Mighty Fine.

I have recently purchased the mighty mouse. I use it for design purposes and find its roller ball precise and much easier to work with than the traditional scroll wheel. I have read numerous reviews of it and had noted that other have had issues with the roller ball getting dirty. I would like to point out that other models also have the same issue, all that is necessary is a good cleaning. Not to mention the fact that there is a one year warranty, most people have had issues before this has expires so apple is replacing it for no charge... what's to complain about there?
Also, the comments regarding the issues with right-clicking and the squeeze feature. I find right-clicking very easy and haven't had any issues with it. As for the squeeze feature, I will admit that I have a hard time squeezing it right. But a small issue as I don't really use that feature too often.
    Overall a great product!

Just when we got rid of the ball

I really don't care if it looks like it has one button or not. I am just glad it works like it has 2 (actually 4). But they lose major benefit of optical mice by bringing back the ball. It gets dirty and stops scrolling within a couple months. Better yet, you can only fix it by taking it apart in a destructive manner and supergluing it together again! The trick with the monitor cleaning cloth does NOT work to clean the mouse. If vertical scrolling is not enough, use a joystick like pad on top instead of a ball (like the pointer think pads used to use).

    Mighty mouse is mighty!

I love this mouse I have it work and at home and I wouldn't buy another mouse. I have had none of the problems the others have-maybe they have food on their fingers or spilled soft drinks on it - which no mouse would survive. So if you want to make an educated decision go to an apple store and see for yourself- the mouse rocks! It works so spectacular in design programs too- i have never had so much ease maneuvering around large files! Anyway it gets a 5 from me

Fix the scrollball by blowing the mouse.

I really like this mouse. I have had the same problem with the scroll ball not working. To fix it all you have to do is put your lips on the mouse and blow into the scrollball hole. Works for me everytime.

4 stars out of 5 because of having to blow the mouse.

I can't believe they have not withdrawn it from sale

Words can not describe the sheer frustration and anger i feel towards this product, 10 months and 3 mice later and the track ball has failed again each time i have to wait 5-7 working days for it t be replaced resulting in me having a lovely $3000 paperweight (iMac) sitting on my desk, i feel like i need to buy a spare one so i have one to use when it is in being serviced, i don't care about a 360 scroll i would rather a 180 wheel that work for more than 3 months at a time. will think very long and hard before purchasing another apple product again if this is the quality of what is being offered now

    Abolute garbage!

This is a horrible mouse. I cannot even believe Apple puts it name on it, they ought to be ashamed!

Just resting my fingers/hand on it causes it to go crazy and go into multi window mode (whatever it's called). That's supposed to be done by squeezing the mouse, not just using it or lightly touching it.

Trust me, this mouse will give you total frustration. The worst mouse on the market, hands down.

    scroll ball problems

This is my second mouse since I purchased my computer about a year ago. When the scroll ball on this one quit functioning, I just sprayed it with electronic cleaner, both on the ball and on the bottom and it began to function properly immediately. No fuss, no residue. Apple should sell this type of product.

    Perfect

I just got this mouse the other day, and I really love it.
The design is absolutely beautiful, the shape is very ergonomic, and the scroll ball is great.
The side-buttons are also very great and useful for opening programs.
I'm having no trouble at all with the right click, I find it very natural.

    A clear 5/5!

    Quite Happy

I purchased this Mighty Mouse when I purchased my MacBook Pro. I'm very happy with the mouse and it has all the functions that I need to get things down. May take a little time to get used to for some people, however, I soon got used to it.

    Another quality product from Apple!

    Definitely a source of stress

While the mouse is aesthetically pleasing and functionally neat, it does cause me a lot of stress. Ever month the scroll ball will stop working and I start wondering if I'll have to replace it.. then after 15 minutes of vigorous attempts at cleaning it starts working again. I have had the product for less than 9 months and I'm not sure how long I can keep dodging the bullet. So buy with caution.

Easy on the eyes, hard to use

    Pros: looks nice

    Cons: everything else.

Apple really screwed up with this one. I'm getting tired of Apple sacrificing functionality to make a product look more attractive. The clickers on this mouse are actually on the bottom...this is done to avoid putting ugly buttons on the top of the mouse. As a result, right clicks are commonly misinterpreted as left clicks. The scroll ball is a great concept, but it just doesn't work well and has poor tactile feedback. All too often its non-responsive. It would help if the ball was bigger. The squeeze-click idea is simply lame, and doesn't work well in day-to-day use. Finally, the ergonomics are very poor.

Buy just about any other mouse and you'll be happier.

    How to fix your rollerball

Like many of you I was extremely frustrated when my mouse started to malfunction. Fortunately all I had to do was take an alcohol prep pad and wipe down the mouse thoroughly (hold down rollerball and roll it use prep pad) my mouse started to work immediately. Hope this little tid bit helps.
