I have been a Mac faithful for many years. I have recently purchased this mouse and I have to say that it is, without a doubt, the worst mouse I have ever used. The side buttons are too easily clicked while trying to right click is a lesson in futility. Even the simple left click sometimes takes more than one click to do the job. I do like the scroll button, though. The ability to scroll left and right without holding a key is very nice.

But, this mouse will be going back. There are better out there.

    scrolling not working anymore

Had thise mouse for a year and now the scroll ball doesn't scroll down anymore.

For the 3 times the scroll ball didn't work I cleaned it (with apple's instructions) and everything was fine, but at this time cleaning the scroll ball does not work anymore.

I thought this mouse would last a long time but I guess it didn't... Due to how the mouse was made there is no way to fix the scrolling, you can't even take the mouse apart. Seesh, what bad design.

Next time I buy a mouse it won't be a mighty mouse.

the mighty mouse is by far the best mouse on the market.

all of you people complaining about the scroll not working because it gets so dirty should seriously consider washing your hands before you use your computer. dont blame apple for the copious ammounts of grease from your local take aways clogging up your mouse

    thank you

    wake up apple

i bought a mighty mouse 2 months ago and already the scroll button is not workin. this my third mighty mouse in 2 years. i dont know if apple people are actually looking at this reviews and are doing something about it this product looks very nice but nice is useless if it is not functional. there is more negative reviews here than positive and the negative reviews speaks of one thing the scroll button stop working the way it should be. pls apple wake up and do something about it.

    like it alot

I bought a logitech mouse YEARS ago and love it. It's seen better days though, and I've been in the market for a new mouse. I've read the might mouse reviews on here and it's gotten it's fair share of negative remarks.

Our local best buy has a 'apple store' in it, and I just decided to impulse buy the mighty mouse.

It's been about 3 weeks, and so far, I've had no problems with it.

    Very good product.

    Don't buy it!!

I don't like this mouse! I don't like that I spent money on it to replace one that was five years old and worked better (and already got rid of...). I can't even get the scroll button to work properly. For the mouse to cost this much and to only be able to scroll down, but not back up after only a few months of use is lame! I have since started to use a Microsoft (barf) mouse that I have been using for a few years at work (bought second hand for only $2.00) and it works better. I will definitely not spend more money for an Apple mouse.
P.S. I am not unhappy with Apple as a whole, I have been using their computers and products faithfully for the past 12 or more years, I am just unhappy with this Mighty Mouse.

    Mouse works Fantastic!

I've had my mighty mouse for almost 2-years. It works great! some of the problems mentionedd below have never been an issue. I'm a graphic designer so I use the right click and scroll ball on a regular basis. The scroll ball has never givien me any of the problems mentioned, and the right click, while sometimes touchy, hasn't been a problem, you just have to make sure you click on the right side near the top (where you should) and not in the middle of the mouse. as far as to click and drag, if you click then pinch int he side buttons, you can pick up the mouse and drag without any problems. I love it!

Inovative thinking. Horrible execution. My second Mighty Mouse (only because someone gave it to me) is losing it's scroll ball control. Cleaning techniques that are suggested by Apple do not work. You can't take it apart to clean it either. I love you Apple but this mouse is a WASTE OF MONEY! STAY AWAY from this one.

Scroll-ball is great - while it lasts

The best feature is the scroll-ball, while it works. But it soon clogs and stops working.

The "one button masquerading as two" takes some getting used to - you have to lift up your left finger when right-clicking.

And I have to disable the side buttons, as they activate too often by accident.

A poorly executed design. Which is a shame, as the scroll-ball is fantastic while it works.

Worst Mouse I've ever used (reasons included)

Problems include the following. The right click ability is horribly insensitive. As a result I often try to right click but it left clicks instead. I really have to get my finger all the way to the right side of the mouse to get a right click to occur. This means I have to pay much greater attention to my clicking.. Which is annoying and disruptive to my work flow.

Because of its design you cannot pickup the mouse and move it and keep the click depressed. So if you are trying to do a very long click/drag for some reason and run out of mouse pad. The click releases when you picukup the mouse to move it and you loose your drag. HORRIBLE design here I cannot tell you how irritating this is.

Those two flaws alone make this the worst mouse I've ever used. It's my main input into my Mac and it should be so simple and elegant that I don't even have to think about it being there. Unfortunetly with the mighty mouse I'm constantly reminded that it is there because it's constantly doing what I don't want it to do.

    unwanted clicks

Looks nice, the scroll ball is nice until it quits working, then you have to clean it. I have had two of these and both would always click if both front fingers taped the front of the mouse at the same time. I was able to make it so it didn't do anything when you tapped it, but to do that I had to disable the side buttons. do not buy this. it is disappointing. Get a Kensington Ci75m Black. it only has three buttons, but it works, and looks great with the new iMac and is wireless.

    Was Happy...

Same issues as RC below, after just a few weeks the down function of the mighty mouse failed. Now I'm stuck with another cost to use the the iMac. Was happy, now not happy :(

    Scrolling nipple useless

A good mouse, starting to catch up with a pc mouse (that have had left /right click and centre scrolling for years now), but this nipple scroll is useless after a few months and with no way of opening to clean it, the best you can do is rub it with a lint free cloth to lift off some of the grease. As far as design goes this has to rate as very poor.

    Great looks, poor functioning

    The Good:
    -Simple and elegant
-Multi-directional scroll ball is very helpful and fast

    The Bad:
-The short length of the cord requires that you attach the mouse to the USB on the side of the keyboard. When you do so, the mouse has limited area to move because the cord is in the way. When the cord is pressed against the front of the mouse, it becomes impossible to click (either right or left) as the top shell cannot collapse to complete the click.

    Great... while it works!

I bought mine with my Mac Mini in April 2006. The mouse worked brilliantly until last month when I had a couple of instances of the scroll-ball sticking. Today the scroll-ball has all but given up entirely, and now only occasionally scrolls upwards and to the right - left and downwards scrolling has stopped working altogether.
I cannot remember how much I paid for it last April, but it was less than £35. For less than 2 years of service I am much loathed to pay £35 for a replacement!!!
