Yep. 4 months and it won't scroll down

Right on schedule. Loved it while it worked. Maddening to know that if I could just take it apart I could fix it in 5 seconds. This mouse costs as much as the fancy new keyboards. It should last better than this.

    No good for nose pickers!

As long as you keep your scrolling finger free of "debris," you will have years of trouble free use from this wonderful product.

    great at first then............

i have been a an Apple user going on 3 years now w/ no means of going back. i got my iMac last summer and it came w/ the mighty mouse. i only started using it in november of 2006 but notcied the great functionality it has especially since i'm a moviemaker. to scroll in the timeline of iMovie, Final Cut, and Soundtrack makes things so easy w/ this mouse. but like ever else i started noticing problems a few months later, february. the scroll ball crapped out on me. my mom had just bout a mac too and gave me her mighty mouse. i switched the unused one in march and here it is august, i'm having the same problem again. i've tried cleaning it w/ alcohol, peroxide, water but it only works for a day after that. i will not buy another one until they fix this. that thing is way too much money to have it work for a few month~!!! apple will have to completely redesign this thing for me to buy a new one~!!!

    Good but....

I have owned two different mighty mice a wired and wireless and both have been great that was until the scroll ball broke and i could no longer scroll down. since that was the direction i scrolled the most it was a huge inconvenience and makes the scroll ball all but useless if i can only scroll up and side to side (which i never used)

    Nit-Picking!

Like I said the cord for it is way too short for those whom don't use it with the keyboard! If your going to get one of these to use separate from the keyboard, then look at the Razer. I also don't like it doesn't do ctrl-clicks either, this is a hassle when using it to open menus. Other then these nit-picks this is an all around great mouse, I really love the scroll ball on it, though it could be a bit bigger IMHO. I love how it feels in my hand and how light it is.

Works great a few months at a time.

I give the Mighty Mouse four stars because it is, in fact, a great product. Obviously being built exclusively for Mac OS X has its advantages. It's small and compact, and you can program any of its buttons to do whatever you want, such as right-click, launch the Dashboard, activate Spotlight, etc.

But the biggest problem with the Mighty Mouse is it only works as advertised for, say, three to four months. It's usually around this time you start to notice the scroll ball isn't working so well. The problem is that dust and debris somehow finds its way into the cavity that holds the scroll ball, hindering its movement. And to compound this problem, Apple refuses to make it easy to access the scroll ball and clean it. Sure, you can take your mouse apart, but at the expense of cracking and ruining the outer ring. And even then, you still have to pull the shell apart, disconnect some ribbon cables and then unscrew the little cavity holding the scroll ball. It's far too much work for such a necessary task to keep your mouse in top shape. Apple needs to redesign the mouse in such a way that the bottom very easily snaps off, with immediate access to the ball, so it's easily cleaned and back in use.

    Highly Recommended

This mouse is much more useful than the one that originally came with my Power Mac G4. I have been using it for over a year and I have encountered zero problemos.

Works great – pro or amateur user –

I've been using this mouse for over a year and so far has been working great. I've been using it as a professional designer and as an animation student and has stood up to all those different clicks and scrolls of different programs.

    I highly recommend it it.

    Great product.

    Great functionality, poor durability

I love Apple! I am a huge fan. I like the way the Mighty Mouse feels. I love the functionality, and customizability. If only the scroll wheel would work properly for more than 6 months. Even so.. it gets dirty, which is to be expected. Problem is, there is no way to open it up and give it a good cleaning with out voiding the warranty, or possibly causing permanent damage.

    I expected more.

well, just got this mouse for a week. it is brand new
first of all, I have to say, the look of this mouse is perfect, there is no doubt about it.

    but..
the inside of this thing is not as sophisticated as it looks like.
First, the scroll ball, as you might have read on the apple website, it can do a 360 degree scrolling(you have to enable it in preferences). well It could,
    but..
it is not what you might have imagined, the scrolling is not very smooth especially when you do a 45 degree scrolling, it's kinda slow and unpredictable, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

secondly, it is the right click or "secondary button", it is also unpredictable, sometimes you have to put your finger way right to get a right-click, if it's not right enough it may think it is a left click, this may be quite
    annoying when browsing websites.

Apple's stuff have always been so perfect and sophisticated, so I expected a lot on this mighty mouse.
If this mouse is from another brand, it could be a successful product. but it's apple, it should be way better than this.

If you don't mind your mouse doesn't match the look of your mac,and spending a little bit more, get a logitech.
    but..
    I do mind.

I wish Apple would replace this mouse already!

I really want to like this mouse. I have two major gripes with this mouse. The scroll ball stops working for me only when scrolling down. I can clean it with an alcohol pad and it's ok for a few days, but it doesn't stay working for very long. Rumor has it that if you keep your hands clean, you won't have any problems! Good luck! The second problem for me is the side buttons. This is just not a good design for editing photos in Photoshop (at least for me.) By default these buttons activate Exposé. They are on the sensitive side so quite often when I am working on a picture I must lightly squeeze the buttons and the windows explode. The work around to this is to just turn the buttons off. The problem is, I do like them occasionally, just not in Photoshop! I guess the real solution for me is to get a Wacom tablet, but I would like a mouse that wasn't so much trouble!

Treat it carefully, and it'll be your favorite mouse.

This is the most innovative mouse that I've ever used. It's very responsive, and in my experience it has also been quite durable. For the people who have complained of the scroll ball not working, I haven't had any similar experiences. I've used it for over a year and it still works flawlessly. I would guess that those who have experienced problems have simply been a little rough on it. I don't need to tell about all of the amazing uses, but I'll affirm all of Apple's claims regarding the mouse's useful features. The ability to reassign what each of the buttons does is also really cool. Overall, I highly recommend this product.

Is this the best mouse ever?

This is the most ergonomic mouse I have ever used. It feel so good in the hand and I have spent many hours just touching it with love in my eyes. If the little ball on top stops working wipe it with a cloth. A small price to pay for such a thing of beauty.

    perfect until...

The SCROLL BALL becomes quite uncooperative. I've owned my computer for less than a year and my the scroll bar is already giving me problems. Apple, this is unacceptable!!

    Not So Mighty After All

Apple's Mighty Mouse works excellent when it's new but the scroll wheel just stops functioning properly after a while. Unfortunately, I purchased the Wireless Mighty Mouse and still experienced the same exact issue. Apple should really consider redesigning a better quality and longer lasting mouse. Truly a disappointment.

    Very Nice!

This mouse is sweet! I just upgraded from an Apple Pro Mouse that I used for 6 years. The scrolling feature is great. The Mighty Mouse takes a little getting used to, but once you do it really speeds up productivity. I can't believe so many people are complaining about the scroll ball, it works very nice for me. If you keep your hands and your mouse clean, you shouldn't have any problems. Just be aware of where your pointer is when you're using the scroll feature and it should be smooth sailing. I found, that if you put the pointer over specific areas in some applications this allows you to move sliders. In iTunes, if you put the pointer over the volume you can scroll it up and down. Also the ability to scroll through my whole iTunes Library with one small motion is very nice! The Mighty mouse is another great product from Apple.

    Worst mouse so far

I love Apple products and I have used them for long time, but i don't recommend you to buy this mouse before Apple doesn't solve the scrolling problem!. I thougt I was getting a wonderful mouse, but after using it few months the middle button stop working, so the scroll function disappear. This is irritating because the mouse is a daily working tool. I don't understand why after so many people complaining about the same problem Apple still continues selling the same product. Is there an improved version Apple could send me to replace this one?.
