    Very disappointing mouse!

This is the first product that Apple has made that I have been disappointed with. The scroll ball started malfunctioning within the first 4 months of ownership and failed to work completely before a year was up. I am surprised after reading all these similar negative reviews that Apple doesn't pull/fix the product!

    very unreliable

i've never doubted an apple product until i came upon this mouse. not only did the scroll ball stop working after a couple months use, the left click also stopped working altogether. i really hope apple comes up with a new design as this one is a complete failure. i really wish i listened to the previous reviews.

Awesome until it BREAKS in a year

This is a beautiful mouse which works as intended UNTIL the scrollball breaks on you in about a year. We have had two mice break exactly in the same fashion and around the same time here at the office. I see it's a common problem from reading the reviews. I guess I will be getting a logitech to replace it. I'll end up with an ugly looking mouse, but at least it will last. :( Come on Apple, fix this problem.

    very nice!

I had this mouse for almost a year now, and still I've had no problem with it.
I love the 360 degree scroll ball, works great.

    Could be better

I echo everyone else's experiences. This has the potential to be a good mouse, except for a few problems ... Firstly the cable is too short and inflexible (to make us buy the more expensive wireless mouse perhaps?), and secondly, the scroll ball is frustratingly useless. I've only had mine for 3 months and the ball has stopped functioning. I've tried cleaning it but it's made no difference. It will work for a few seconds but then stops again. I expected better from an Apple product - I'm sure there are better mice for a lower price.

    Just awful!

I have always been a Mac user since '92 but this is by far the worst mouse I have ever used! The scroll wheel is cool but is constantly in need of cleaning. I am always mistakenly clicking on the side buttons because they are far too sensitive. The scroll wheel is also a button but is also too sensive and I'm always missing clicks. It jumps around the screen somewhat randomly if you move it too fast and the mouse WILL break when you finally break down and decide to clean it. AVOID this piece of junk!!! Apple what were you thinking when you released this?

I have had mine replaced by apple a few times and each time the same failure occurs: The scroll wheel in the center ceases to function. Other than that, It's great.

    Great mouse!

I just got this mouse and it works great. There's actually subjects on apple support on how to clean the mouse, for those who have issues with that. Overall it's great and I'm happy b/c it matches my macbook. lol

    Love It Hate It

I love the scrolling and can't live without it. It lasts about a year, can't be cleaned, and must be replaced. Planned obsolescense stinks!

Easy to use... easy to clean too!

This is a wonderful mouse to use, and the extra features make navigating my Mac so much easier. That said, yes, the little scroll ball can get stuck because human fingers are grubby and sticky. All those old skin cells do clog things up. I'm amazed by the number of people who claim their mouse is now useless. Get a lint free cloth, put some isopropyl alcohol on it, and rub it back and forth on the mouse ball while holding the mouse upside down. Works every time for me... voila, working track ball!

    Mouse is pretty but ...

The design of the mouse precludes resting one's hand/wrist on it for support thus ones wrist and hand gets sore after a while. Right clicking to work, requires no pressure on the mouse itself other than for right click.

I think the ballistics could be improved as well. I am currently using MS Mouse 6000.

I would prefer to use Apples mouse but ...

    Worth the $49

Went to the Apple Store on tax-free weekend and bought an Mighty Mouse and a case for my MacBook. The Mighty Mouse takes some getting used to especially because my old mouse fit perfectly in my hand (two-button mouse that was originally for my PC). I activated both buttons expecting them to be difficult to use but I am happy to wrong. I also like the squeeze buttons on the side, I use them all the time for Expose. All in all it is well worth the $49 dollars... go out and get one!

    I like it.

Being a PC transfer to mac, I like this mouse. I bought a 'pc' mouse and it drives me nuts! As for breaking.. we have a whole lab of these mice at my college, and it's been a year.. no problems... so.. who knows?

    Look elsewhere

In typical Mac fashion; the Mighty Mouse plugged in and worked instantly. But, after a few months, the roller ball would only scroll up. And, the mouse left and right clicks are sometimes hard to perform. Also, its PRICEY. I bought a Logitech mouse for $25, that works great. I can not recomend this mouse. Buy a third party mouse, you'll be happier.

Was just getting used to it

When the scroll quit working. My mouse lasted a total of 7 months. Apple should not be providing junk accessories to an otherwise good Imac that I have enjoyed for 7 months.

    This is Great

I love the mighty mouse. It looks remarkably simple but it has 3 buttons, a side button, and 4 direction scrolling. It rarly gets confused to what button I am trying to press. The scroll wheel will stop working after a couple of months... If you don't clean it like the manuel sugest. To clean it just take an alcohol wipe or paper towel sprayed with Windex, turn the mouse over and scroll the wheel in all directions with the cloth.

    I don't like it either!

Well, I would----if it had worked for longer than 3 months. Because that is, in fact, how long the little tiny ball at the top will last--maybe---if you're lucky.

    Almost perfect.

This is by far the most useful and intuitive mouse I have ever used. Being able to track not only up and down, but also left and right, is highly advantageous; as is the ability to customize the buttons to whatever is needed. The side buttons are also extremely convenient as they can allow you to either switch easily between windows, bring up the dashboard, or a couple other things.

My one and only concern is the trackball. Our college library has numerous iMacs and they all have this mouse. Perhaps because they are heavily used (literally 24/7) or because no one bothers to clean their hands, not a single one of the trackballs will work anymore. You can sit there and turn it all you want but it won't scroll. However, my personal mouse has only experienced this drawback a few times and all it took to get rid of it was cleaning the ball while turning it, but this still took a few minutes of time before it would work properly.

Apple, this is a great product, but it would be nice if we could take the mouse apart and clean the ball like we used to be able to before optical and laser mice took over the market.
