    Great!!

Extened my network range easily with a few taps from my iPhone. Don't know why I didn't do this sooner.

    Returned the first day

I bough this hoping to extend my Wi-Fi, but sadly it failed. It never connected to my router in the first place, I rested it and restored it to factory default 3 times. I tried a lot of times and it never connected. Very disappointing with this product. I looked at the booklet in side and look at my router. The router was perfectly capable but every time my iPhone said "An unexpected error has accored, please try again"

    excellent product. love the simplicity

Completely unsure what 'Nick W from London' is on about. this is the most simple WiFi/Router I have even had to setup. Great iOS app can setup pretty much everything (haven't found something yet) Although I do like Airport Utility 5.6 better than 6, you can still use any version to access the airport so its great that way. Love the fact it has a power cable and two network sockets now, allowing you to place it somewhere away from the walls and use it as a proper router with a wired network. Kind of dose away with the need for the Extreme for small homes.

The review that 'Nick W from London' has wrote is either just a complete insult to the Airport Express, or he has bout some cheap netgear router thinking its the same thing, as I don't think any can be daft enough to use apples simple to use products and software.

Airplay stutter with optical cable and extarnal DAC!

Don't buy this if you want use this with an external DAC (Digital to Audio Converter) Using airplay with normal audio cable is fine, but you would have to live with the limited sound of the airport's internal DAC. It appears that when it's used with optical cable to an external DAC (mine is a Dacmagic 100) the sound will stutter. This was NOT the case with the prior generation of Airport Express. Because my solely reason for buying this was for high quality airplay I will now try to return it to Apple or make them exchange it for the older model. For more on the problem: Search for "Airport Express (square) skips unbearably with Airplay" in Apple Support Communities.

Easy set up and cool profile

Got it today, unboxed it and plugged it into my mac and the auto set-up came up. 2min later it was running and all my devices connected. Simple. price wise better than some of the belkin "N" routers on the markets and a lot smaller than them. Can't speak on range compared to Belkin but fine for medium sized apartment.

Less range then 8 y.o. 1st gen Express

This new Airport Express is cute and all, but it has less range then our 8 year old 1st generation Airport Express. We use these in the apartment for "wireless" speakers and to extend the range of our Airport Extreme. We thought that this new one would help with intermittent connectivity in one of the further away rooms that the old Express lived in, but boy were we sorely wrong. This new one's reach wasnt even close to what the old one had. We also have a 2009 Mac Mini in this room and that too has a much farther range then this thing. We now have it living in a room that's closer to the Extreme. So far so good, but it's only been 10 minutes, so anything can happen. Your milage may very. FYI: The room that it didnt work in is about 12 feet away, but is separated by 3 walls (with 2 doorways).

    Firmware update needed

While the streamed sound quality was marginally superior to the previous 'in the wall' version there was a constant 'glitch'. Similar to a CD track skipping. Or a timing error
in the stream. Not a complete dropout but a random sound imperfection.
    Tried forums - no answer.

Returned via Amazon as not fit for purpose.

All other APE's (3) work fine.

    Using Netgear DGND 4000 N750 router/modem.

    So good!

I had two previous airport express base stations. One started on fire internally and the other just didn't last. I spent the last 3 years switching routers and just came back to this one. Yes it is more expensive than comparable models but the set up is so easy. AirPlay and wifi printing are awesome. Plus I can configure 100% wirelessly. The others required me to configure first by direct connect and then wireless connection. Oh and the range and speed are so much better. I just hope this one doesn't burn and lasts.

Took me literally five minutes to setup using AirPort Utility and Airplay is really cool.

    Unusable - constantly drops network

Purchased this to extend the network from my Time Capsule and in "extend a network" mode it is constantly dropping the network requiring a reboot to join again then drops again after 5-15 minutes. Works slightly better in "join a network" mode. Had to go back to my previous generation Airport Express which isn't as fast but is perfectly reliable.

There are many with the same issues yet no firmware update has been issued by Apple, Google "new airport express extend drops network" to see the scope of the issue.

    Problem fixed

I am extremely happy with the airport express. I had a linksys wireless modem that my mac keeps dropping out on because of interference from other wireless networks in the apartment. I decided to get the airport. The problem has since been gone, wireless internet has never been faster and it was easy to setup. And its a beautiful device. Go buy one!

    Nothing but trouble

The first two boxes I purchased were faulty and had to be returned to apple within weeks as their status lights began flashing orange while the unit would broadcast on all channels blocking any Wifi signals from other sources in the area. Now the third and current box will not connect to my work PC at all and of the three Macs in our house it only connect to one immediately; with the other two it’s a case of switching them on (or waking from sleep) then five minutes of going into internet preferences deleting old locations adding new locations switching Airport on and off before finally it decides to kick in – no explanation and no help on this issue, despite reading numerous online help pages. Also self-assigned IP is another frequently occurring problem; this means you see and connect to the base station but it then won’t connect to the internet. The unit is riddled with issues and is shoddy rubbish for something that is more than twice the price of the competitors products that do the same job. Avoid yourself the trouble and save some money and don’t make the same mistake I did.

    Amazing!!

Just purchased the Airport Express & am very happy with it. It was easy to set up & I love how I can stream my music from all of my Apple products to my Bose using Airplay. Excellent wi-fi connection. Very happy with this purchase. Excellent customer service prior to purchase. Another home run for Apple.

    Airport Express

I use five Airport Expresses along with an eight megabyte Mac Mini and Time Capsule to listen to music throughout my home. I work at home and can go anywhere in the house, including front and back yards, and never leave my music behind, usually. Sometimes I dream of the old days of flipping records because my music didn't quit, stammer, or stutter for no apparent reason, or require me to reboot my computer or Airport Expresses, or restart iTunes to restore all of the Airport Expresses, or have Airport expresses dropout completely, or require me to make sure that not more than one MacBookPro isn't running Time Machine, or use the microwave oven. Numerous phone calls to Apple, countless trips to forums, and Apple Store Geniuses (nothing against Apple Store Geniuses, they are the backbone of Apple customer service) without a solution. I continue to use AirPlay, formally Air Tunes, to listen to music but often times concoct ways to have a hard wired system.

    Express upgrade

No Doubt this is an upgrade from thePrior express models! set up took less then 2 minutes. Good signal even on my front porch & Back Yard. Guest feature is a plus. Only wished I could add a USB networked flash drive from the USB port.

    Excellent

I ordered this product last Friday, and it arrived today, thought it was late due to delays because of Hurricane Sandy. Got it set up in about 10 minutes, and its great! I have my MacBook Pro hooked up, and am streaming iTunes to it via AirPlay. The performance of it is great!
