Be very careful with this power cord

Sure this power cord works great, if you only have it in a climate controlled room and that is the only thing you will ever do with it, but if you are a student, this isn't practical. Power cord broke, even though I took good care of it, luckily I had a power cord from my old macbook. Best advice, charge it before you go, and keep the cord in a climate controlled environment, unless you have $80 burning a hole in your pocket.

    It's not perfect product

This product is too large to connect on the wall directly. I was likely to kick it sometimes.
After I used this adaptor for about 1 year, it became not to charge my MacbookPro. It seem a poor contact at the connection part and cable.

    Fourth replacement this year!

I'm here to order my fourth replacement cord this year! We have four Mac laptops, and all four of their power cords no longer charge the laptops. With the $240 we've spent in cords this year . . .

    I love It and I don't Understand...

So, I don't understand really all this reviews... Look, I will try to explain with examples.

I am owner of some dedicated servers from a particular NOC (Network Operation Center). Now, many former clients complained because this provider suspended their Servers while my Account is always working perfectly.

Talking with the CEO of this hosting company I realized that all this account were suspended because they were abusing the provider's AUP and TOS... of course if you misuse a service or a product soon or later is going to be broken!

    Same thing with Computers!

Now, I own more than 6 Macs, and I never had troubles. While in Texas for job, I closed the connector out of my bag and with the Zip I damaged it. My bad! The MagSafe stopped to work and also the battery stopped to charge fully.

I had to change it after to weeks because the cord was really and seriously damaged.

After I changed the MagSafe, my "Travel" MacBook (2007) work perfectly and the Charge of the Battery last more.

So, due to my fault I had to change the MagSafe... that lasted a lot and the new one is working perfectly! So it's true that WE make the QUALITY of it! If we treat things good they will last a lot but if we use them as TRASH, they are going to finish inside the Trash Can!

The product is worthy all the money I spent for it and I know I am going to have care of it to preserve it.

    Flawed Design

I have the newest version of this charger, and it is just as bad as the last one. The connection at the port is broken after a few months, and to be honest, my computer and charger don't even move that much from my house. Most of the time the charger is sitting on a desk or my bed, not being abused or twisted. Whoever is pumping out the ideas for power sources should stop, and nominate someone new. If the connection at the power block does not break, the connection at the port will. I payed over a thousand dollars for a computer that works great, and I'm very happy with it, but why can't that include the price of a charger that works even half as well? I'm done. Have a nice day!

    Quality of a bargain brand!

The charger that came with the computer, lasted longer than the replacement i bought. The one that came with lasted 4 years. the replacement lasted 2 months the quality of the chargers are horrible apple needs to think of alternative remaking of its charging products.

    Knock

    Hi
I find it totallly disgusting how these chargers burn out so quickly and just stop working alltogether. you have to constantly replace at £50.00 a pop. Apple make billions of dollars surely they should be able to fix this charger problem once and for all.

    A shame!!

80$ for a charger that lasted 4 months!!!! Apple should review the price and the quality of these chargers! That's a shame!

    Get your act together

Honestly, Apple? I expected better. It caused my MacBook to just turn off unexpectedly innumerable times, before only charging intermittently and then killing itself. And when you consider the price we pay for it; I now have to fork out £50 because of a faulty product. Just plain unacceptable.

Works fine for a year, just bought extra one to change my laptop at work

Not sure what people are complaining about here or how do they manage to burn power adapters so quickly. Perhaps consider a power surge protector to use with this adapter will be what is all needed. I use that in most of every power socket in my home to protect my equipment.

    EHHH~~

Well, its has about 2 and half years owning this macbook pro and now my started to flicker and die off. When it died, I got pretty frustrated. While I was writing this review though, I had angled my mac book in a way that was against the pillow. I had my charger on my macbook just hoping somehow it would turn on before I actually order one. When my charger was leaning against my pillow, suddenly the charger started working and my macbook was charging. So I bent the place where the wire and the little rectangle thing that a green/orange light appears, then WALLAH! Its working. I thinkn the connecting points on the mac get weak after a time or so and sometimes, we just need to pop it back in either by bending it or just playing around with it until it somehow connects.

I give this review 4 stars because it has served me well all this time. However, the cost is just too expensive. I committed to a macbook pro so did many others, and had been an adamant Apple fan, but its unfair that Apple should have some products in their stores that do not last long. Based on the other comments and reviews of others, I think I just got lucky with mine.

13 months and it stopped working

My dell charger worked for 3 year!! and this one stopped working 1 month after my warranty expired, as if apple did write some code to fail it and I have to buy new one.

Whats the use of beauty if it doesn't work long enough!! It shouldn't even get 1 star!!

    Not a good product

I purchased a MacBook Pro in May 2010 and am disappointed to say that the quality of the power adapter leaves much to be desired. The adapter that came with the computer failed within a year and the replacement failed in another 6 months. This time though Apple wants about $80 for it.

I paid more than twice the price when compared to a PC laptop hoping that the premium would translate into better quantity. The RAM failed in the computer last month. Looks like Apple is more form and style than substance. This was my first Mac product (MBP 13 inches) and'll probably be my last.

A Trick That Worked for Me

The mag charger for my MacBook Pro simply quit working one day after being able to use it without problems for a year. (note: Computer/charger has never been dropped, over heated, wet, etc. I am very cautious with my computer and its accessories). I was able to figure out a trick with my charger where I would charge my laptop ONLY when I was not actually using it. Since my charger broke, whenever I would use it while I was operating my Mac it would quit working. As long as I charged my Mac while it was not being used I was able to get it to work.
As of right now that is what I am doing to get by and as a caution to those who still have a working charger. MAKE SURE you unplug it from the wall outlet when you aren't using it. The charger gets one star for the one year that it worked.
I hope this was somewhat helpful apple customers.

great concept but I think it need a little more work.

I have a mid 2010 macbook unibody, I barely had the use the magsafe at all because I charge it at night and and I have a good battery all during the day. well a couple days ago it just went out. the LED light dim green regardless of whether it was plugged up or not. so I bought a new one. The new one works great but the old one (coupled with some reviews) gives me the impression that I might be buying a new magsafe every year or so. Im hoping that my assumptions are wrong.

    Broken in 1 year

I use my MacBook no more than 10 hours per week, and in one year the wires of the power cord broke off from the magnetic head. It is disappointing.
