    DISLIKE!

Maybe the trick is to: 1) Buy another new charger $80! 2) Immediately wrap it in electrical tape 3)Hope it will last more than 6 months! Can't believe that Apple sells these inferior products!

    Now ordering my 3rd charger...

I am all for everything Apple - everything except these chargers. They are too expensive to be replacing all the time. I am very cautious when I am using them, but somehow the wires always end up being exposed. I am seeing that I am definitely not alone in this - PLEASE FIX THIS!

    Daylight robbery

Like everyone else on here my charger has become frayed through normal use after 2 years. I spent £1000 on a Mac Book Pro and now I am beyond frustrated at the fact that I have to fork out £65 to buy a new charger and will continue to be forced in to buying new chargers until Apple recognise that this is an issue and do something about it. At least reduce the price if you can't improve the product!

Third charger in four years. That's ridicoulus!

Dear Apple! Please do something with the charger cable (this between charder unit and a Mac). In my case it breaks too often. I try to take care of it but it doesn't help. I travel a lot and I assume that portable computer as MacBoook Pro should be design to be solid notebook with durable parts. Your computers cost a lot of money so I recommend to focus on a charger as well. Thank you in advance.

    DO NOT LAST!

I have had 3 of these now, the first one the wires got twisted up inside the protective cover and stopped working, luckily that got replaced free as it did not have exposed wires. The second one at the beggining of the smaller wire overtime it bent and i suppose stretched the protective casing and then got exposed and after a while failed to work, i nearly dindn't get the thing replaced for free even though i just treated it like any normal sort of charger. The only reason they replaced it was because of me pointing out the flawed design. and my current one is starting to get twisted inside like my first one, i doubt it will be the last one i will have, and if i had to pay for each time it broke i would have invested $300 by now, these things have an absolutely atrocious design.

rubber is melting off the wire cable

After 3 years the rubber suddenly began to peel off the cable so quickly I can't even keep it taped up. This can't be safe.

Aaargh! Another dead adapter, another $80

What is wrong with Apple? Thousands of engineers developing great products and they can't build a reliable power adapter? I'm really disgusted. Obviously Apple could care less about its customers. Our newly dead adapter lasted less than a year. Zero stars.

    surprise surprise!

I know everyone that reads this will find it an utter surprise that I think this power adapter is terrible! I'm not going to reiterate what everyone says but as I sit her and write this review, I am staring at the black electrical tape that is wrapped around half of my adapter cord. Honestly, Apple you have some beautiful and functional products and I love them BUT for shame, providing such an utter, cheap and breakable adapter to people who spend $1000+ on a macbook. When does it get to the point you actually bother to LISTEN to the hundreds of thousands of complaints about this and FIX THIS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT???

    Guess What?

Not that this review is any different then the thousands of others, but I need to vent. My power cord is wrapped from top to bottom in electric tape because the insulation has a half-life of about a week. I try so hard to love Apple and I really do love my computer but it doesn't hold a candle to the pure rage of a battery and charging cord designed to fail in order to force people to repeatedly buy a new one. When I can afford a new computer Apple no longer exists to me. My $300 PC from middle school still has a functioning power cord almost 10 years later, is that really too much to ask from a company that charges $1,000 for a laptop?

ZERO STARS would be too generous

If you're going to give us such a shoddy, fragile charger, DON'T charge $80 for a replacement. What a effin' joke. Do either one of the following: 1) make a better charger or 2) charge $10 for a replacement.

    On sixth power cord...

Apple should head its head in shame for continuing to sell these faulty power cords, at $80 no less!! Why hasn't there been a recall?? Terrible product!!!!

    Terrible

This charger doesn't last. I have had to buy 4 chargers over the last couple of years. After reading other reviews, I am convinced this is a poor design. Upgrade this immediately, especially since it's $80 to replace and a computer over $1200 shouldn't have problems like this.

    Aaaak!!!

Well, my charger did last 18 months. It cracked, sparked and burnt the rubber right by the magnet. And like everyone else, 80 bux??? This is a travesty. Just glad something didn't catch fire.

    Worst Charger Ever.

Like everyone else, my charger started fraying and there was no stopping it! I wrapped almost half of my cord in electrical tape so it could last me a little bit longer, but then it started fraying elsewhere. I'm scared this pos is going to catch on fire so off to the apple store I go! Also, the white gets quite dirty if you travel with your charger a lot.

Good Quality of build and design

I like these series design and durability, because after almost 4 years of use, the quality of body and white color of the charger are still the same as the first day, this is what I love about Apple products.

    MacBook Quality: A.......MagSafe Quality: F

I'm on my third MagSafe in 3yrs and I need a fourth.

It's a shame Apple hasn't redesigned these yet. The terrible ratings and the amount of users who need replacements should've driven them to update it, but no luck so far. Perhaps a braided cord? Something needs to be done because spending hundreds of dollars on replacement Power Adapters, after paying a premium for the laptop itself, is just not good enough.

Not worth the laughable price tag.

Firstly I have to say I like Apple products, I am a graphic designer and they are great for what I do from a day-to-day basis. I also get it yes.. of course you need to make them more expensive than the competition to give the user the satisfaction that they are paying for Apple quality and the positive benefits that come with that.

What I don't get is the need to make Apple users pay way over the odds for simple things like chargers, adaptors, headphones etc. If your adaptors were made of some kind of nigh-on unbreakable wire then fine, great, charge nearly £70 for a simple adaptor. But they aren't. Oh what's that you say? They have a lovely gimmicky magnet which allows you to find where the charge socket on your laptop is in the dark?? No, not just the dark, but it helps the cable from not tearing. Er... but it doesn't does it. As many people here have mentioned, the main area where the cable snaps, tears or rips is by the heavy part of the charger - the actual power adaptor. Is there any super duper magnet or tangle free system here to help? ..... No. It tangles, it tears, it becomes defunct like any cheap adaptor anywhere else.

Sort it out Apple, either make the power adaptor worth the pounds/euros/dollars or just make it cheaper. Stop taking the Mick.

Its not like people wouldn't ever need to buy an adaptor ever again as every-time you bring out a new machine you change the connector anyway!

    Quality is utter disappointment

There should be free replacements offered for these adapters but I just went to the apple store and they said I shouldn't have waited til the cable frayed to come in. NOBODY has time to be checking if their cord is intact every time they use their laptop. And quite frankly, the cord suddenly frayed one day without any provocation. APPLE NEEDS TO FIX THIS

Yet another failed charger and Apple product shut down

Yet another Charger less than 18 months stopped working. Now sharing one charger with three laptops. Why should I buy another given the lack of reliability ?

Also I have a failed power book and one dead iMac This is getting very expensive ( products don't last much beyond 4 years )

Not to mention I phones that last 12 to 18 months before home button fatigue or software crashes and freezes.

Beautiful products that age badly !

Time apple started offering replacement packages for loyal but disappointed customers
