    Just bought a new one again

    I've barely had the cord any time at all, treated it gently, and the tip just fell off after a couple days of it only half of the time giving me a charge. And now I have to buy this one, because I have no other options and it's ludicrously overpriced. If I were not required to use on of their laptops, I would refuse to touch Apple because of this. As is, I will never be buying anything from Apple that I'm not required to. You've lost a customer.

    Not cool, Apple.

    I've got a 2-yr-old macbook and have had to get a new charger each year. I had a windows computer where the charger was less than 20 dollars and it lasted five years before it was deemed totally unsafe--and the replacement had the previous issues FIXED. These computers can survive an approximately 5 ft fall with no issues, provided they land on something like carpet or a chair, so the whole "magsafe" concept probably isn't even REQUIRED. Apple, FIX THIS!!!

    Extremely disatisfied

    I buy one of those every year and they always break. I am at my third one and the plastic around the cable is falling appart (the first two, the connections were loose), I will need to buy a new one. I usually love Apple products but on this one they failed miserably. They reinvented a lot of platforms, now is the time to reinvent the computer charger.

    not even 1 year

    I had gotten the Mac book as a graduation gift from my grandmother, not even a full year later and the charger stopped working. Before it had died the design of it was very inconvenient, the charger never stayed in place to charge my Mac book. I love my computer my the charging design and the charger it self are terrible.

    If there was any alternative...

    I recently purchased this charger because my 3rd one in 5 years had failed. I experienced common problems such as splitting near the magsafe connector, as well as one charger that just stopped working, sans any physical damage. To make matters worse the Genius Bar wanted to charge me to replace the physically undamaged charger! I sincerely hope that Apple decides to finally make a charger that lasts through "real world" use.

    piece of garbage

    I had my first adapter for a little over a year before it went out, not my second one which i have only had a couple of months is starting to show the same signs my first did before it went out on me! Apple needs to figure out what is up with their power adapters!!!

    I feel I have been conned by Apple

    Having converted to being a Mac user and enthusing about the simplicity ever since; I am now on my third power adapter in three months and if this rate continues it will make what was an expensive conversion a ridiculous cost. This adapter clearly has design faults, I thought I had been particularly unlucky until recently, when I read the reviews. As Apple are so clever with everything else Mac; one wonders why when they must be aware of the problem, are they charging so much for faulty goods, this will lose them trade in the long run. Maybe they are only produced in China?!

    Horrible design.

    This cable takes the cake as the worst product that Apple has ever made. Apple should be ashamed that they haven't had a replacement program or update for this piece of junk.

    Sometimes thin and light STINKS

    Mine last generally about 9 months before they fray and I have to replace them. I got a replacement a couple of weeks ago. Well, today the cord got caught underneath my chair, I put my weight on it, and it crimped the cord so badly that it was crushed. These things can't take ANY wear or abuse. If you don't treat the thing like a magic fairy unicorn, it dies. MagSafe is nice and all, but I've had to replace 4 power cords already.

    Meanwhile, my MBP has fallen to the floor and survived. What good is it when the cord is light and thin in order to prevent something your computer is tough enough to deal with, but so light and thin it falls apart?

    Very Highly Priced

    I bought my macbook pro exactly 8 months ago and the power adapter no longer works ! i have always used the macbook and the power cable with great care ! went to the store i bought it from to get a new one and was shocked to see the price ! the rep at the store tells me that there is only a 6 months warranty on the power adapter purchased along with the macbook while apple extends a 1 year warranty if purchased without the macbook ! what kind of logic is that? is anyone at apple reading this ??

    Really, Apple? Get it together.

    I was SO happy and relieved to read these reviews and see easily that I wasn't going crazy with my frustration towards my charger. I've owned my macbook pro for roughly a year and a half and just recently my charger seems to become less useful by the day. At first it was only showing issues with one particular outlet. Now, no matter where I plug it in it takes several minutes for me to position it in a way that it will charge, which is beyond frustrating. Like most other reviewers, I haven't abused my charger in any way, shape, or form. The price of this product is absolutely outrageous. $80 for a charger that will last me another year?! Absolutely shameful. Get it together, apple, and spend less time developing new products and more time fixing the already defective products you're currently selling.

    Adapter lifetime approximately 1 year

    Lasted only 1 year, as the previous adapter. Don't know why apple can't make a simple adapter that lasts longer than 1 year, like other company do.

    I see I'm not alone

    Just another message conveying disappointment that I need to buy another one already. The charging has been intermittent for the last few days, and finally conked out about 2 hours ago. The cable was not stepped on or abused in any way. My thought is that the wires separated near the magnetic connector. Once I get the new one and verify its functionality, I think it's time for some surgery on the original.
    Please consider a redesign of the cable; clearly the ends need some strengthening. I would gladly give up some flexibility for a more sturdily built cable.

    Not sturdy.

    My fiance and I have both found that these cords last under two years with careful use. The plastic on the computer end tends to loosen and break open. It helps not to travel with it, and not to use the clip when you do, but it seems ridiculous that apple would design a laptop charger without travel in mind, let alone include a method to secure it that actively hurts the product. As durable and reliable as the MacBook Pro itself is, the power cable is just the opposite.

    broke charger

    mine charges for about 15-20 minutes and STOPS charging, then i have to take out the plug and put it back in to charge it..is this a factory error? would i get a new one for free?

    It's unfair that we the users would have to keep buying such a terrible charger! The reviews are terrible and Apple does not seem to do anything about it. The cord is so thin that it wears down and ends up getting slight dents in it. I am not the only one that has experienced this problem and do not understand why the charger is so expensive when it does not even live up to Apple's glorious title.

    4 cords in 4 years!

    I have two apple computers a 2010 macbook pro and a 2008 macbook and both of the power cord had to be replace not once but 4 times. One times when the cord started to fray after 4 months I took it in to the apple store and they said it was my fault because I used it too much. Isn't that what a power cord is suppose to do, charge my computer. At first when you get a new power cord you think its perfect and there is nothing wrong but after awhile you start seeing something that the cord is not working properly and then find out there is a little dent in the cord where the cord hooks on to the computer. Eventually that whole becomes bigger and once it starts there is no stopping and you know you have to get a new one. I am tired of paying for new cords every year.
