Does NOT work with video camera

I bought this so I could directly download our dog show videos to the iPad for viewing. Says there is not enough power to run the device. Don't buy this if you want to download video direclty from the camera. Since that is the only thing I wanted to directly download to the iPad, it is pretty useless to me.

    Useless for CF cards

I have a DSLR camera and wanted to be able to download photos to my iPad but I can use any card readers cause it's says the reader draws to much power and I can't connect my camera directly because it's unsupported...why bother having this product if you can't even use it for USB devices. Incredibly disappointed and would not have purchased if I knew CF card readers weren't supported.

    Ipad2 & sony cyber shot

The connector kit was a great gadget for initially uploading 800+ photos from a sony cyber shot......until i wanted to repeat the process a few weeks later. I get an error message "device uses too much power" every time. I have plugged and unplugged the usb, camera and connector kit in every order possible multiple times to no avail. The ipad has been reset and the camera battery is fully charged and still nothing. What a waste.

iPad Camera Connection Kit worth the money!

What a great buy! There were six of us on a cruise - I used the attachment to download everyone's photos from their SD card to my iPad every day, and at the end of the trip everyone got a CD with ALL of the vacation photos and videos. Made it very easy to share the whole library. Helpful hint - if you do this, integration is easier if you make sure everyone's camera is set to the same date/time - makes it much easier to organize photos.

    works kinda well

seems the usb option will not work with any camera that:

    1) doesn't have a usb port
    2) has a rechargible battery in it that can be recharged by means of usb port.. current draw ill be too high for the ipad.
    3) a usb card reader that has a light on it or requires special power needs (like all of them).
only one style that can be speculated that will work if it has its own power plug to give power to the usb reader.. or possibly use a powered usb port multiplier to see if it can work with the ipad.. dont have one.. but someone out there try it and post your results if you happen to have one.

the sd card reader seems to work quite nicely for those cameras that use sd cards.. unfortunaely some of my cameras use either picturefx cards or cf cards.
havent tried any of the sdxc style cards yet.

    Sony Cyber-Shot not compatible

A great product that we used when traveling across the USA. The one item that is deceiving in the write up....it does NOT work with the Sony Cyber-shot point and shoot camera. It worked with my old Nikon camera but NOT with our brand new Sony Cyber-shot. When we looked up the information online, it confirmed that the product & Sony CS were not compatible.

    Awesome product!!

A great accessory for anyone using their iPad for photos. (Which is just about everyone!) Best accessory I have purchased for any of my iOS devices.

    I recommend this highly!

    Dead useful little gadget

What will they think of next! Just picked this up for my iPad 2 and I am so happy with how easy it is to 'lock and load'...I used the USB cable connection for both direct to the camera and a card reader for another external memory card. Worked perfectly! I love being able to bypass my PC to load just a few pictures to the device. Now, WHY can't this thing also be compatible with iPods and iPhones? That would be perfection.

    Lets state the obvious...

I'm a huge Apple fan, with that said, why don't iPad users have the ability to plug a usb flash storage (thumb drive) into our iPads and transfer files? The only reason I can see is that Apple doesn't want to give up the ability to sell 3 different iPads based on storage size. Come on Apple, please get back to making devices that made your customers completely happy, not just a little happy. For this reason, I will only give 2 stars to this adapter set.

    Perfect accessory for photographers

I recently used the Camera Connection Kit to upload over 800 photos to my iPad2. It took very little time and worked flawlessly. One of the best buys I've made and perfect for any photographer.

    Useful, no fuss, and small

I have owned the Connection Kit for a few months now. The USB interface has turned out to be more universal than the SD card interface. My camera can be accessed with both but I prefer to pop out the SD card because there is no fumbling with a cable and plug. But recently, while on vacation, I wanted to transfer pictures from other cameras and they used an xD card. I did not have a cable so was dead in the water. Yesterday I bought a USB-A to both mini-B and micro-B cable from iGo. This adapter is about the same size as one of the interfaces so is a nice match. I know there are still cameras that don't use a standard USB plug but I am closer to universal access now.

In all cases that I have used these interfaces with SD cards and cameras, they simply work. When tried on my iPod touch 4th generation or with other USB devices, I get an error message. Fair enough.

    Take on vacation

I just took this little connector on vacation and it was amazing. Photos straight from camera to pad (thus freeing up the camera memory) and then straight from pad to flickr (freeing up the pad memory). Invaluable addition to the trip!

It works both on my D40 & D90 but the only downside is you cannot ZOOM IN the picture if you don't import.I'll be returning this tomorrow.

    USB adapter

I have used the USB adapter with my Canon 50D and it works great. I only wish that you could use it for a flash drive also. When using it with a flash drive I get the message not enough power.

    Handy, especially when traveling

I love my original iPad and use it constantly for work and play. I don't know how I did without it before. I also happen to travel a lot. I invested in these little handy gizmos for a recent 4 week vacation where I was planning on taking a lot of photos.

The adapter is just what I needed and I continue to use it regularly (note: I only use one of these, since it fits both of my cameras memory cards). I'm able to download all of my daily photo images into my iPad, freeing up memory space in my camera. I also get the benefits of being able to view and edit my recent photos on the large, gorgeous iPad screen. Finally, I can easily upload and share photos with family and friends, to Facebook, to Flickr, etc. via my iPad.

Be aware that these are small adapters, and in the case of my Kodak Easyshare Touch camera, the micro SD card is freakin' microscopic and requires an adapter that came with the SD card. You need to take care to not lose anything when working with them! I keep everything in a small cloth bag that floats around in the bottom of my purse when I travel.

All in all, a great tool for getting the job done.

p.s. Works great with 3 different Kodak cameras and also with my old Olympus.

Camera Connection does NOT work with a Nikon D3100

I tried. The Genius Bar guys tried. The camera connection adapter does not make a connection between a DS 3100 and an iPad 2. I have to transfer photographs to my pc and then to the iPad 2. I hope that someone is working on this problem!
