Good for importing not good exporting

It works great but the problem is getting them off the IPad to print the pictures
It should go both ways I have one IPad but will be looking at another manufacturer.

    Camera kit for iPad

Unfortunately I am very upset the USB connecting does not work with my Samsung TL205 Camera ,and I am assuming because the USB connection not only is how you charge and download and it draws power as it does that same, the I pad can't regulate the difference, but i was lucky in the fact that it uses a SD card and that part works (so far) . My partners camera charges up on a separate cord then it down loads and his camera works off of the USB .His Camera is a GE E1680w so that seems to be the problem that i see .so if your camera charges and down loads through the same USB connecter it will only work if it uses a SD card you can remove, and if your camera uses a separate download cable then your power charging cable you should be able to use the USB connecter . PS: I have and iPad ,and my partner has a iPad 2. hope this can help ! Apple may have some glitches but it still is a easier and better product then any Windows product I have used . Good Luck to all.

    Camera Connection Kit

The USB connector will connect some cameras (but not a Canon EOS) to an Ipad2 but the SD card connector does not work at all. The I-store in Glasgow confirmed this is an operating system fault and "hoped" it might be resolved in a future update of the operating system

Doesnt Work with my new Camera

I used the camera connection kit bery sucessfully for about 18 months with a Fuji Camera. That camera Was lost and replaced with a cheap Nikon coolpix s3200. Now nothing really works. If i try to hook the camera directly to the ipad using the usb adapter, it tells me my camera draws too much power. If I try taking the memory card out of the camera and use the card reader to import my pictures, then when i return the ds card to the camera, the I get an error message unless i delete the old images off the card first. The ipad is not the only place i wish to down load my pictures to. i want keep them on the camera and download pictures to the ipad. So basically unless there is a secret trick that someone can share with me, the days of using my ipad to preview and share my pictures are over. What a shame.

The least apple can do, is provide us with a list of the few remainong cameras that work its connection kit so that we dont all waste more money on this lost and once great functionality.

    Works Fine

I was a bit apprehensive about purchasing this piece of kit for my iPad2 after reading some of the recent reviews on here. But I took the plunge as the guy at the Apple store said I could return it within 14 days if it didn't work with my cameras. I'm glad to say it did. I've only tried the connecting to camera module but it works great with a Canon S95 and Canon Ixus 220 HS. Tried stills and video importing both work fine. My iPad2 is running IOS 5.01. Only downside (and the reason it doesn't get 5 stars) is the price.

D700 owners this is for you

Just bought an iPad, and bought this kit add on too. Of course, it's a pain that Apple charge £25 for something that should be included as standard (USB connectivity) but once you get over that this product just works.

I shoot RAW + JPEG on a Nikon D700. The iPad handles them perfectly, and when I get back to my home computer I can import my files directly from the iPad into Lightroom 3 without the need to use iPhoto.

I was concerned about whether this kit would work, but it does, seamlessly, straight out the box and my photos look fantastic!

    Stupid product, waste of $35

Ok, so its great that I can upload my photos, and then open them up in a image process app however, I CAN NOT THEN RE-EXPORT to an SD card!

I dont see why you didnt just add a SD slot to the iPad anyway, you put on on the Air and Macs... I am really starting to regret my iPad purchase now!

    Easy for NON-Technical Person

My husband is president of his company, doesn't have time to research all of the apple technology. He couldn't figure out how to get photo's off of his camera. I bought this kit - plug in to your iPad, iPhone, insert scan disc and he has his photo's. It's great for him, instant gratification. I would recommend this - it's really a great addition. I purchased one for myself as well. It's in my camera bag!

    Great Little Tools

Love these little tools! Thanks Apple for giving us an easier way to transfer our pics! No more going to the PC to transfer all my pics! Now I can share my camera photos right away. So easy to use. Pluged it in to my iPad, then to my camera & right away an import option came up with all of my photos. Love it!

    Not so happy

I bought Ipad2 then i got this camera connection kit,, the first camera connection kit i got it worked fine then i tried the 2nd time doesnt worked anymore..got it replaced 2nd and 3rd time still not working.. I went to apple store they are amazed that its not working ( camera kit) so they restore the factory settings of my ipad to check if its just the software...then its not the software after restoring the settings..theres something wrong with the Ipad2 thats the reason the kit isnt working...the Ipad2hardware...i just got the ipad for 3days but im amazed its a defective unit. So they have my ipad2 replaced now the camera kit is working both usb and sd...so for u guys u should try having ur ipad checked at the apple store...it might be a defective one..

Does well for photos, video it depends on your file format.

For JPEG & RAW great; for video it depends on your video format.
I purchased this for a secondary backup while traveling and for picture/images, this work quite well. I am using a Canon 50D and the only hurdle was that this camera uses Compact Flash instead of SD/SDHC cards. At first I was disappointed, but in the end I just need to carry the USB camera cable which is actually smaller than a Compact Flash reader and the same USB cable…so at the end of the day this is fine.
iPad loaded the pictures and transferred the images fine. When I went to iPhoto (Mac) it did not see the iPad (first gen). I attached the iPad USB cable to my Mac and then it saw the iPad and was able to easily and quickly download the pictures from the iPad to iPhoto.
I also have a Canon HF200 that uses SDHC cards and although the pictures from this camcorder come through fine, the video from this camcorder (Format: AVCHD) is NOT supported by this device or the iPad.

    Camera connection kit

Bit worried by some of the reviews for this kit but happy to say I find it fantastic for both my IPAD2 and IPHONE 3GS. Both the direct connection to camera/phone and the SD card work exactly as described. Well done apple.
Cannot understand why people get so angry when this does not work for them. A full refund or help is at hand if brought at the Apple Store .

    Rendered useless by Apple

    1) Cannot move photos FROM the ipad TO the camera/sd card
    2) Imported photos show up allover the place, no possibility to organise them, and cannot be deleted from a single location. Mercy!
    3) Photos dropped into the sd card cannot be read on the ipad 2. ONly photos recorded by a camera.
    4) USB sticks won't work, as the power supply is very very limited

Apple, give us all a break and make the ipad more useful to us photographers by correcting all of the above. Then, I might consider rating higher than one star.

    Even worse than I expected

No official instructions and it turned out to be just another Apple control rip-off, overpriced and does not work; what's worse you don't know it won't work until you've paid for it because neither the box nor any Apple publication on the web tell you of its limitations. I bought it hoping to effortlessly transfer files to and from my iPad, of course this is not possible except in very specific circumstances. I'd be happy with it if I could just upload photos from my memory stick or camera, but this is not possible unless I create specific subdirectories and use a very low powered USB stick. Too much faffing around. The UI is bad enough with the iPad, despite what Apple believe, but the camera connection kit is possibly the worst consumer experience I've ever had. Is it too much to ask that I can use my iPad on the move to show my photos to friends or shall we continue to have to squint at the 2" display on my camera?

    Great except...

This contraption is great for uploading photos and is perfect except for one thing. I cant figure out how to delete the photos off the iPad without having to individually delete them. Would be nice if that could be fixed.
