    As advertised!

I am a professional photographer and I wanted a way to preview photos on my iPad during shoots without always bringing my MacBook Pro with me. After reading some of the negative reviews I was leery about purchasing this product. However, I decided to purchase the product because I have lost my faith in the online reviews. I am very happy I did, because this connector worked PERFECTLY with my camera's and a 6:1 card reader. I have an iPad2 with iOS7 and the USB connector works flawlessly. I shoot mostly to CF cards and in RAW format. I have nothing negative to say, the connector works as advertised!

    Great Accessory

This accessory is easy to use, fast and does the job, as advertised. Perfect for traveling or at home. Great way to share pics. Also with Apple TV, to mirror on large screens for presentation or casual viewing.

Lightning connection and the Retina iPad

It seems to me (and I don't even own the camera and USB connection kit)
that it depends on the model iPad that you own, again it's just my understanding that the new 'Lightning' connection on the later iPads is not a 'Powered' connection therefore it will not power USB as USB requires a powered connection. it also seems that the latest op sys iOS7 has reduced the power available to the older larger connection that is common to the earlier iPads.
I have a later retina iPad I love it, but, I wanted to take video using a remote USB mic but have come to the understanding that it is not possible with the iPad that I have. Seems to me to be backward technology, I have thought if it might work using a 'Powered USB multi port adapter' I have an old 4 port one that I used on an old computer that only had 2 USB ports, I don't know if it would work or not, plus I not sure I'm prepared to risk the purchase price of the Apple SD and USB kit in case it does not work.
Come on Apple your losing a lot of friends with this issue get it sorted, cos if not next time for me it's the Android route. There do not seem to be as many problems with other tablets

takes too long to review large amounts of photos

Works for a small number of photos (say 50 or less) but it takes too long to preview the thumbnails (before the import) so if youre travelling for a long period of time and want to import a selection of photos at a time (and don't want to wipe the photos from the sd card after import) then it takes longer and longer to review any new photos (as it has to load up each picture from the beginning of the card) as you add more pictures to your sd card every day.

Would be really nice to view something larger than a thumbnail on the camera kit before importing. Not worth the money.

Great but only if you have the right gear

This was incredibly useful when I had an iPad 3rd gen running iOS 6. And a great value at $30 for both USB and SD adapters.

But now I have an iPad Air running iOS 7. I tried each of these with a 30-pin to Lightning adapter. Neither works. I am forced to buy new, separate SD to lightning and USB to lightning adapters. Apple is not kind to its repeat customers.

Works for my ipad 3 running IOS 6

This thing works flawlessly on my ipad 3. Where is the kit for the lightning connector that has been out FOR A YEAR!!!? I'm very disappointed to learn that this wont work if I update to IOS7 because at some point I will be forced to do so. Lots of disappointment with apple lately. ...

After reading the bad reviews, I was afraid to buy the camera connector. I was 2500 miles from home and so wanted to get pictures from my daughters destination beach wedding to Facebook! I didn't pack my laptop , just my iPad . I inserted the connector to the iPad and it was instant success. My beautiful daughters photos were shared and I was very pleased. Was so happy to see the photos on the iPad too!

First time I've ever been let down by Apple

The USB import connector will not work with my iPad2. I tried importing from my iPhone 4s and Nikon d7000 with their respective USB cords, and nothing. The SD card connector works, but that is all - thank goodness for that. Very sad that the USB connector doesn't work, and no help on the discussion boards either. :(

    Doesn't work with IOS 7

I am furious. Got stuck 100s of miles from home thinking I can view and email my camera's photos with my Apple reader. Boy am I surprised! Wish somebody would have told me. Steve Jobs would never have let this happen.

However, after updating to ios7, the ipad no longer recognizes this accessory.

It doesn't support large or medium sized cameras!!????

I bought the conector kit with high hopes that I could use my IPad to upload photos trough my Sony DHC-HX9V camera instead of having to use our slow dell home computer. But when I took the adapters out of the box I first tried the SD card unit, and it wasn't supported by my card, "because I had a memory stick pro duo type card" but the strange thing about that was that it fit sng into the adapter but when I plugged it in to the iPad it didn't respond. So then I tried the USB adapter, I plugged it in and it kept giving me a messge every time I tried coneting it saying that "too much power reqired"! And might I remind you that I don't have a giant DSLR camara or anything like that. I just have a medium sized compact type camara! A very common upper class one of today!! So I was very disappointed!!! But then I went online and they said that when iOS 4 had came out that they downgraded the power rating for exterly connected components. "WITCH IS VERY STUPID"!!!! And then later I tried another Sony camara that we have which is a smaller compact camara than mine, and I somehow was able to get trough. So what is this thing with power rating and "too much power" this is simply outrageous and Apple needs to fix it!!!! Plus those Camara adapter kits don't come cheap for two little components $30!! So all and all I am very disappointed and can't believe that a company like Apple would have such a software glitch!!......

    Love this accessory!

I wish I had this all along, but only recently learned of this handy accessory. I take LOTS of pics and like to look at them on a screen larger than my camera before I download them to my computer. This solves the problem so I can see them in my iPad 2! Now I don't have to carry my laptop with me on vacation just so I can download and view my pics. I researched many versions of this accessory made by others and felt safe ONLY buying from Apple. I was pleasantly surprised to walk into one of their stores and be able to buy it on the spot! It works effortlessly and appears to be made very well.

    A waste of money

The adapter will download raw files from my Nikon with no problem. I can view the pictures on the ipad with no problems.

However the problems arise when transferring the photographs to a PC for editing. They will only transfer as small TIFF files using a third party program. OK only for viewing photographs on the ipad after taking, but of no use to serious photographers.

A waste of time and money.
